@@maxrichards3881 I don't know why it's called blue laws, but since the term comes from europe, it probably doesn't relate to liberals/democrats.
I was confused about the "No singing at bus stops" but when he said the NYC Hustlers I was like "Oh those Aholes that give street vendors a bad name."
Those Buskers are Okay so long as they aren't being annoying about it.
Always loved these. Never laughed harder LMAO.
Hahah same
Although I'm from NJ, I've seen plenty of NY to know those laws aren't quite weird. You'd get it if you were here. I hope he does NJ, we're never too behind NY in being similar
Surprised the spittoon law still on the books. Spittoons were outlawed to combat TB.
"Every corporation, proprietor or other person owning, operating or controlling any store, factory, theater or other building or room which is used in common by the public or any depot or railroad station shall provide a sufficient number of nonabsorbent receptacles for expectoration and shall provide for the thorough cleansing and disinfection thereof at least once in 24 hours."
I just went to NYC Yesterday lol.
When is New Jersey getting one of these, here some samples
It's illegal to pump your own gas here.
In Newark It's illegal to get ice cream without a doctor's note after 6PM.
In Bernard Township its illegal to be sad.
It's illegal to slurp your soup
You put the gas one twice lol
But...the illegal to be sad one is really off-putting wtf
I'm guessing they really enforce the anti-self-service law huh?
@@Heavenlyhounds96 I mean, they did. But the past few months ive been able to pump my own gas here since there's not enough attendants to pump everyone. Yet I always still see the cones and long lines
@@Heavenlyhounds96 I doubt it's enforced but Oregon has a similar law about no Self Service
IIRC, the chopped tongue thing refers to meat. It's to keep delis and restaurants from cutting tongue with cheaper meat and selling at full price.
Wow, I'm not sure if that makes it more or less creepy. I guess that's why they are weird laws. Thanks for the correction @@Ben_Brainard
New York, how ya feeling? You can't be sneezin' around these parts.
I had forgotten all about the thumb on nose wiggle your fingers thing.
If only the pigeon was NY's state bird...
Super excited to see your show in San Jo! Bringing 3 friends! 😁
Best start to my morning
Just remember that in the town of Cushing Oklahoma one CAN NOT DRINK beer while only dressed in your underwear.
So If im in my underwear but wearing a hat....its legal?
@@ACertainGuy0 maybe
Half the state: welp, there go my day plans
@@ItalyHastaLaPasta no it is a city law. But here is an Oklahoma State law. One CAN NOT transport chickens in one's car.
@@richardmckinney4963 don't forget that it's illegal to go whaling in Oklahoma, as a state law 👀 but that chicken law, I blame Weatherford.
As someone from the Bronx, I approve of this video
Eww New York seems like such a bad place to live I don’t want to go there
"Nope."
I felt that 😅
Thanks for repping the Bills. 👏👏
"I'm in danger"
"You called this meeting"
as a new yorker, this all made logical sense. but you forgot one. it’s illegal to jump off a building, punishable by death. so Miles Morales in Into the Spiderverse would’ve been in the electric chair before he could save a soul
So would Daredevil. And Iron Man. And I'm pretty sure Captain America also jumped off a couple buildings in NYC.
@@seaborgium919 send them to the electric chair immediately! they’re criminals!
I cannot wait for the Indiana episode. We for sure have a lot of weird laws. My personal favorites include:
1. In South Bend, it's illegal to force a monkey to smoke a cigarette
2. Baths are forbidden between October and March
3. Residents are not allowed to eat their own severed body parts in Fridays
4. It is illegal to sell laughing gas with the intent to induce laughter
5.If any person has a puppet show, wire dancing or tumbling act in the state of Indiana and receives money for it, they will be fined $3 under the Act to Prevent Immoral Practices.
Sounds like New York never tried my Maw Maw's tongue roast recipie
Ben you should do a bloopers reel i would watch that in a heartbeat and id say others would too
Born and raised in Buffalo. Need to find a cop about that first one.
new york and texas accent is on point sir keep up the good work
The Texas one depends on where you are in Texas

Most of these laws seem like they should be in Florida as opposed to New York I mean honestly if the no cutting up the tongue had came from Florida would anybody see it as weird?
Florida and NY are similar in many ways. We have different brands of crazy, but they're about on the same level.
Regulations! Regulations! Regulations! That NY baby!
I'm looking at the Savoy Ballroom in NYC for that ban on 8-hour dance competitions

My first thought was a butcher cutting up a beef tongue.
I would love to see more weird state laws.
gosh i've missed this series!
In Texas we have a law that from the 1800’s which has technically never been written off the law books.
If two trains come to a point where the tracks cross each other, neither train may proceed unless the other train has already done so.
I think the train one is because of something to do with the tracks that are part of the road, probably excessive wear and tear due to how the road-imbeded tracks are constructed. I...wanna say it's specific to Buffalo and Buffalo area?
Nope, that was Syracuse. East Washington Street downtown used to have railroad tracks running right down the middle of it, and there’s several famous pictures of huge freight trains running down the street next to cars
@@trainmanrobbie3360 Ah. Thanks! Couldn't remember which one. The law I'm more familiar with is no singing at bus stops. (It's a really, really appreciated law that I wish would be enforced in trains and subways too, especially when you're trapped with tourists who don't know better that these are also our seagulls that should not be fed or humored.
@@hannaha4631 No problem! I’m also thankful that up here we don’t get nearly as many of the SoundCloud hustler types, not that I’ve seen at least. And the only tourists that we get are just stuck in our giant mall lol
Bless you.
When you realize New York weird laws make sense.
Pretty sure the dance contest one is connected to the Great Depression
I love how you do all the different states and make all sound not like you! Well done sir! I aspire to your level of impression
The kitten sneeze.
NY State Bird is the Eastern Bluebird, not the Pigeon.
It is illegal in DeWitt, NY to own a Shetland Pony.
It is legal in NY for women to go topless anywhere it is legal for a man to go topless, unless she is advertising a business.
It is illegal in Ocean City, NY for a man to go topless.
It is illegal to do anything in an elevator other than stand, face the door and wait for it to reach your desired floor.
It is illegal in New York City to carry an ice cream cone in your pocket on Sunday.
About the tongue chopping… what kind of tongue? You know there are people that like beef tongue, right? I used to, as long as it was cooked well.
Does this apply to all tongues? Or just human? I need to know… for reasons.
Idea for a video- the states react to the Monument Mythos series, specifically the monument in their state to see their reaction
I have never loved NY more…
Hahah I had grandparents raised in nyc . They told me all about this. So I totally understand this 😂😂😂😂😂
props to you for acknowledging Buffalo as the true football team of NY
I live in New York and my old high-school does a 12 hour dance contest every year
In Delaware pawn shops can't accept your wheelchair or fake leg/ arm for payment or pawn.
Ok, I actually understand the bus stop and train ones.... train for safety reasons, and bus stop to stop loitering, the latter is debatable due to one's stance on loitering
I need to see this for AZ
If you need more weird laws, you should check out HAI's crime spree (which included the puppet show law)
Wow I like new York I get it. Also are you considering doing more countries at the table if so I recommend Britain France and maybe Mexico since they are parents to most states. also I consider the states that used to be part of Mexico to be Mexico's kids Spain as there grandad. also yes I do know that alaska hawaii and Florida have different parents.
"Thumbing your nose" at someone is the old-fashioned middle finger.
Lol I live in NY have done the thumb and finger wiggling thing since I was a really young kid to mess with my aunt.
0:56 I guess they don't like lengua tacos there... 😂
New york is a whole ass mood
