I live in Canada, and I come from Iran. Everyone respect each other here, and never laugh if you speak with an accent. I enjoyed your video, and even by looking at your mouth ,it can helped. I am also working on my accent by watching different UA-cam videos.
Your way of teaching is very good but your aim is the most motivational thing. From which everyone can get inspired and motivated to do something for the welfare of humanity
Love much how you explain the content clearly such as i don't need to use English Subtitles in this video.. it helpfully with me as a newbie English Learner.. Thanks ! 🍻
Hi Gabby Definitely "th" and "r" sounds are the most difficult for Brazilians. But I usually have some problems to pronounce words like "pattern". It not clear for me if this double t in the middle of the word. Sometime the sound is like "d" or a mix of "d" and "r".
@pahmi thoriq Cotton and button are pronounced with glottal stops in place of T, not a flapped D. The rule is that if the T is between two vowel or diphthong sounds, or after an R and before a vowel or diphthong, it will be flapped. If it's followed by a syllabic consonant, ends a word when the next word begins with a consonant, or it ends a thought group, it becomes a glottal stop. If it starts a stressed syllable or comes in certain consonant clusters, it will be true. And if it comes after N or in other consonant clusters, it will be dropped
I personally don't have problems with words individually, my main problem is to get to link some sounds during speaking (different words) for instance, "I asked you" "While you're..." "changed my..." etc. It'd be interesting if you come up with a video like this. Thanks for helping us.
I recently started watching your videos. I totally fell in love on your accent 🙏🙏🙏🙏 it's too fascinating and yet I can learn new things through those videos. Helpful and informative lecture. You are my honour teacher❤❤❤❤ From Bangladesh 🇧🇩
I love to watch her speak - her enunciation is perfect - I'm from LA so I speak southern Californian English - she doesn't have a regional accent - I have no idea where she was raised.
@@tompeled6193 You mat be right...I think she mentioned in one of her previous videos that she grew up in the Midwest...she has moved around a lot and has also taught English in different countries...
I haven't had any trouble with pronunciation any more since I learned the phonetic transcription of English. Many people ignore this part of learning a language but it's essential.
Hi Gabby, You know, I love your channel and I have learned much with your videos, I feel that my English is improving, slow but sure. My desire most is learn to speak English, that is the main purpose in my life because I want to go live in Los Angeles. Sometimes I feel so stress or stuck because I can read and write English but when someone is talking is very hard for me to understand. your videos help me much and I am grateful with you, because you make me believe I can learn to speak English. Your videos are the best
Hello Gabby how's going Since I started watching your videos my English has improved a lot Thanks a lot have a great Tuesday my dear teacher 😉🇧🇷 take care
I adore American sounds even if that's quite difficult to me. I feel like American accent sounds like a powerful rock song, but also sometimes romantic song. Amazing. And thank you for this lesson. Take care
Since I found your videos on youtube I become a Gabbyoholic listener. Even though I have watched it earlier, it's very useful to review some rules or ways to pronounce better. Thank you for your passion for teaching.
Hi teacher Gabby, greetings from Brazil!! To me, the most difficult sound is "RL" in girl and world. The last one is extremely hard! Although I think so in girl there is a SCHWA sound. Thanks for your lesson, and God bless you!
I'm so excited to learn how can I use my mouth and tongue to pronounce English correctly; especially with you 'Gabby'. So depends on this video, I wish that the next one will talk about it. Thanks Gabby
I'm an English learner and I feel pretty confident with my pronunciation after a few years of continuous self-learning. My strategies are: Learn how to read IPA + match your pronunciation with native speakers (try youglish.com) + train your ears by listening to songs, podcasts, watching movies, TV shows, news, UA-cam, etc + train your mouth by practicing more advanced technique such as flapped T, dark L, reductions, linking, glottal stop, dropped consonants, silent letters, etc to make you sound more natural when speaking + practice imitation and record yourself.
Hi Gabby, I've just started my own English learning UA-cam channel. I'm not as confident as you are but I hope to follow you and learn from you. This was a great video. Cheers!
Gabby, have you heard of the International Phonetic Alphabet? It is a phonetic alphabet that is used to write all the sounds of all the languages. It is based on the Latin alphabet and has many diacritics and symbols to represent things such as stress and tone.
Hi Gabby! I want to say thank you for all the valuable information here on UA-cam. I was wondering when are you going to be releasing the Go Natural English course? I love English! I graduated from college a few days ago and got my degree in both English translation and communication. I can pretty much hold my own weight when it comes to having conversations with native English speakers. The only thing I've been struggling with is pronouncing words like order, shorter, border....etc. Do you have any suggestions on how can I improve my pronunciation specifically with these types of words? My native language is Arabic by the way :) Thanks, Gabby :)
