Nancy was one of the most significant influences and inspirations in my early years of learning guitar. She is an icon for millions of musicians. Crushing on her since 1976 :)
Hi Nancy, I remember seeing you playing your guitar in the courtyard at Interlake High. I wish I would have gotten to know you but I was busy smoking way too much weed in the parking lot. Ran into ya at the old Albertsons in Woodinville when we were in our 30s, I don't think you remembered me, but I appreciate you pretending like you did! Thanks for staying alive and rocking us out, you turned into a great guitarist, and I watch and listen to your play intently.
Nancy Wilson - one of the most underrated guitarists in the world, she's proficient enough to play with anyone, and she has a great voice as well. I've loved her ever since 1976 - what's not to love???🥰 Oh, and did I mention she's good-looking as well? 😏
I love how down to earth that she is, and how she really loves these albums that are so different from the type of music that she’s traditionally played.
Solid list of must-have records from a rock icon in Nancy Wilson. She's still going strong after all these years and showing no signs of slowing down which is really impressive. Rock on !
Ah, Tumbleweed Connections. Completely wore that one out from playing it over and over in the seventies -- back when people's whole lives revolved around have a good stereo system. Glad to hear it made Nacy's top five.
Everything that Nancy Wilson says about those albums carry alot of weight. I thank her for sharing her thoughts about them; they mean alot. She is a well spoken sage contemplating the greatness of those she has joined.
What an amazing musician, I've always admired this remarkable woman. To hear her intimate thoughts on her favorites is pretty dang awesome. Thank you .
I've been with Heart since the beginning and love both sisters but gravitated more to Nancy because she sang AND was a versatile guitar player. She just rocks. And I loved learning about her fave 5 albums, of which Wrecking Ball is definitely on my list.
When I was growing up and playing guitar in a band, I had such a crush on Nancy, I thought here is this beautiful woman and she also plays guitar, what could be better than that.
I love it, Nancy Wilson for sure I followed Nancy's guitar playing for years she seemed so at ease with what she was doing. Great to see her and give some advice on what she listens to and how it makes her feel about each album. She listens to very good artists.
Before Heart the Wilson sisters played at local bars in the NW area. One night the bar I worked at got so much snow no one could leave. Spent the night with the girls from Heart looked pretty good on my memories list. We played board games, did a puzzle and eventually slept in the booths.
Yes! Wrecking Ball. There was a time where this was THE album I'd buy for a friend's birthday, or any special occasion. This album is to be treasured and shared. Oh, and Tumbleweed Connection. Great taste.
Even if those choices were not mine, I admire her taste and explanations. I'd be interested in her top 10, 0r 20, or 100 since the world of good music is so vast.
Nancy is aging so beautifully. And great picks for albums. Allison, Emmylou, Joni, major crushes in my life. Along with Nancy. Elton is great also, but for me it is Madman Across the Water. I saw Springsteen in 1975 in Seattle at the Paramount right as he was blowing up. Great concert but I can do without him now.
Saw Heart in '78 Baton Rouge (they looked like a deck of cards!); and then in '82 Santa Barbara (Big hair and big moves from Nancy- never saw anyone move like that with a guitar, not even Page). And then all the myriad changes through the decades- Really very much a "Time Machine" for me...
I've been in love with Nancy for decades. I love her taste in music. She also isvthe.most gorgeous baby boomer woman as well as being a bad ass rock star!
Nancy is an amazing guitarist and her dance moves while playing are top notch ! She kicked up her leg very high all while holding the guitar and it’s fantastic. She was aerobically fit and in great shape and that’s probably why she looks so young. Vocal exercises are recommended for warming up but I know Ann and herself warm up to certain songs while on the road.
That voice is clear, distinctive, loud and oh so beautiful. It's too bad she didn't use it far more during her early and entire career as an instrument.
NANCY NA ÉPOCA VOCÊ ERA A PRINCIPAL DA BANDA,EU ADORAVA VER O QUE FAZIA NO PALCO EU QUERIA MUITO FAZER O MESMO,PARABÉNS!! VALEU APENA TER CURTIDO HARTE. ❤❤❤❤
That's a pretty good list. I think I'd have to include We Sold Our Soul for Rock n Roll but hard to argue with any of these. I could listen to her talk for hours.
Great choices and what a classy lady! So hard to pick just five: Miles Davis - Sketches of Spain Brian Eno - Another Green World Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots Black Sabbath - Mob Rules King Crimson - Lizard
I remember seeing Nancy on Howard Stern show many ye are a ago. She had red hair and I didn’t recognize her. She sang a beautiful song. At the end with a brief silence, Howard says, “god I want to come on your face”.
1:04 - Nancy, you threw a pick in Rapid City SD in '78 which I caught ( gray medium dunlop / textured) a real working pick, not the souvenir type they throw now days.......Anyhoo, I kept it in a jar for years, and then decided to use it. It's now lodged permanently in my Ovation. Which is why I can never sell that guitar. (Seen you live 4x btw.)
5 records to cover all the bases? "What If", the Dixie Dregs; "Slow Turning", John Hiatt; "Hand of Kindness", Richard Thompson; "Into the Purple Valley", Ry Cooder; "Blue", Joni Mitchell. Valid alternate picks: "Mischief", Clive Gregson and Christine Collister; "Grant Street" (live), Sonny Landreth; "Hey, Where's Your Brother?", Johnny Winter; "Shoot Out the Lights", Richard and Linda Thompson; "Used Guitars", Marti Jones.
... not to mention that when I first saw the title of this video of her speaking, I thought, hmm, Nancy Wilson the jazz vocalist who recently passed. That should be interesting. 😊
Raising Sand is great! Raise the roof is even a little better. Love both records. Yes, I had a poster of Nancy with an ovation on my wall. Mmmmmm Saw Heart on the Bebe Le Strange tour as they were going through changes. They were great. Still love Ann and Nancy!
because of Anne channeling Robt Plant and Nancy with Sandy Denny on Battle of Evermore... I would suggest Sandy Denny & The Strawbs. Denny's 1st album and only all acoustic one. Recorded in 1969 and shelved til 1973 when the Strawbs got big doing prog rock.
1. Candy O - the cars 2. Colour of spring - Talk Talk 3. dark side of the moon - PINK FLOYD 4. NEBRASKA- BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN 5. HELLO I MUST BE GOING - PHIL COLLINS
Nancy is such a dear soul and a fine guitarist, I have been disappointed in some of these Stranded videos, and when I heard Nancy's first two choices I thought I would be again, but she more than redeemed herself with her last three choices. Viva Heart !
You have to see Nancy rocking out on youtube to her own song "barracuda" set up by Nuno Bettencourt and featuring Taylor Hawkins on drums, some female vocalist that I don't know and some other bass player. Its absolutely rock n roll power on steroids..
I'd love to see Nancy react to the huge wave of all female bands coming out of Japan right now like BAND MAID, Lovebites, Nemophila, Hanabie or Gacharic Spin. And thats only the tip of the iceberg.
I love her choices, especially Tumbleweed Connection (I love young Elton and Bernie), but my top 5 would have to include Abbey Road, Let It Bleed and All Things Must Pass.
My top 5 5. Van Halen 5150 4. Led Zep 1 3. Elton John's greatest hits 2. Bob Seger Against The Wind 1. Jimi Hendrx Smash hits In reality the list would have to be expanded to 100 albums and it would include probably 20 acts from each decade from the 40's through the 90's.
My 5 must have on desert isle. 1. Fates Warning " Parallels 2. Rush " Power Windows " 3. Al Stewart " The Year of the Cat " 4. Pink Floyd " Dark Side Of The Moon " 5. Helloween " Pink Bubbles Go Ape "
My top 5 would have to include the Pink Floyds/ Relics album. Ummagumma was my first choice but I have to have some Roger Barrett in my Floyd mix, feels wrong not to.
Robert Plant, Elton John. She has great taste. Springsteen?? No way. I've never understood the appeal. Kind of like Neil Young. I just dont hear or see it
Nancy was one of the most significant influences and inspirations in my early years of learning guitar. She is an icon for millions of musicians. Crushing on her since 1976 :)
Ha ha, my HS first talent show we played both Barracuda and Crazy on You, way back in the day. Excellent way to start for sure, for many of us....
That makes TWO OF US! LOL...........
So honest, genuine and humble for a superstar.
Talented, beautiful and eloquent. Nancy's everything a female artist could ever want to be.

I think I could listen to Nancy Wilson talk for days. I'll bet she could tell some wonderful stories...
Everything that Nancy Wilson says about those albums carry alot of weight. I thank her for sharing her thoughts about them; they mean alot. She is a well spoken sage contemplating the greatness of those she has joined.

She's beautiful and can play and sing back up like nobody's business. What a treasure.
Nancy Wilson Rules! 🤘🏻
Absolutely ❤ Nancy Wilson!!!
I’ve always thought music is food for the soul and her passion and words seem to explain that very well.
Thanks! Got your recommendation! I appreciate your talents so glad that you did this video❤️🎸🎺🌹
So talented and gorgeous. Love this woman
Tumbleweed Connection and Western Stars two of my favorite albums!!
Before Heart the Wilson sisters played at local bars in the NW area. One night the bar I worked at got so much snow no one could leave. Spent the night with the girls from Heart looked pretty good on my memories list. We played board games, did a puzzle and eventually slept in the booths.
So agree with Tumbleweed Connection…my favorite Elton John album ever!
Yes! Wrecking Ball.
There was a time where this was THE album I'd buy for a friend's birthday, or any special occasion. This album is to be treasured and shared.
Oh, and Tumbleweed Connection. Great taste.
Just heard Wrecking Ball for the first time. To quote Darth Vader, “ impressive, most impressive. “
Wow this is a really diverse and cool list. I've always admired her. No less so now.
I love Nancy Wilson. She’s great! ❤
YES raising sand!!! pumped for their next one.
Even if those choices were not mine, I admire her taste and explanations. I'd be interested in her top 10, 0r 20, or 100 since the world of good music is so vast.
Joni Mitchell's Hejira is such a.great album, her use of altered tunnings, cinematic songs and of course Jaco 's hypnotic bass playing sublime!
1. Van Halen I
2. Van Halen Fair Warning
3. Led Zeppelin Physical Graffiti
4. Bruce Springsteen Darkness On The Edge of Town
5. Van Halen II

I saw Springsteen in 1975 in Seattle at the Paramount right as he was blowing up. Great concert but I can do without him now.
I also don't know what got in to Nancy to mention Springsteen. It stinks like a piece of poop. I assume it was a political pick.
Springsteen's' last two albums are great.
@@kitano0 - Okay Mrs Springsteen.
I'd love to be stranded on a desolate island with Nancy (or Ann)! With some Beatle albums.
I've been in love with Nancy for decades.
I love her taste in music.
She also isvthe.most gorgeous baby boomer woman as well as being a bad ass rock star!

Humility, Grace, and yes, Heart. Her choices are not the same as mine would be, but I'm sure willing to give them a try.
That voice is clear, distinctive, loud and oh so beautiful. It's too bad she didn't use it far more during her early and entire career as an instrument.
Nobody will ever understand the great taste in music Nancy Wilson has
I understand. 🤷🏻♂️
As a kid I was always captivated by Ann. After listening to this interview, I think Nancy is my favorite. What a wonderful human. 🩵
"Stranded" was a title of a Heart song with Nancy on lead from the 1990 album Brigade.
What a nearly impossible question. Mine would be:
The Beatles: Revolver
Led Zeppelin IV
Pink Floyd: Wish You Were Here
Heart: Private Audition

So hard to pick just five:
Miles Davis - Sketches of Spain
Brian Eno - Another Green World
Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots
Black Sabbath - Mob Rules
King Crimson - Lizard
I love her ❤

❤❣Nancy❣❤
Oh hi beautiful and thanks for the video and we love listening to her I really love her barracuda and y'all have a beautiful Christmas later
Nancy was 5 for 5 here. All 5 are good records. Good taste in music Nancy! Now grab your sister & get back on the road! We miss you!
1:04 - Nancy, you threw a pick in Rapid City SD in '78 which I caught ( gray medium dunlop / textured) a real working pick, not the souvenir type they throw now days.......Anyhoo, I kept it in a jar for years, and then decided to use it. When God was passing out gifts, Nancy was in ALL the right lines!
My guitar hero ❤️🎸

Stranded 😳 Abandoned & Mandated 🤬 Love U Nancy Fan Since 1st Album release! ✌️🎸⭐🤟🔥⛄🎄🌹
Gotta say I love Ann as well.❤️❤️
Funny, when she mentioned Raising Sand, I immediately thought my #2 would be an Emmy Lou Harris album.
because of Anne channeling Robt Plant and Nancy with Sandy Denny on Battle of Evermore... I would suggest Sandy Denny & The Strawbs. Denny's 1st album and only all acoustic one. Recorded in 1969 and shelved til 1973 when the Strawbs got big doing prog rock.
What a cool, intelligent, rockin' chick. She's always been one of my favorites since I first heard her in 1976.
1. Candy O - the cars
2. Colour of spring - Talk Talk
3. dark side of the moon - PINK FLOYD
4. NEBRASKA- BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN
5. HELLO I MUST BE GOING - PHIL COLLINS
Love her
What a beauty.
What can you say about Nancy and Anne. Pioneers lots of love to them. I wish them future luck on their endeavors.
Nancy is such a dear soul and a fine guitarist, I have been disappointed in some of these Stranded videos, and when I heard Nancy's first two choices I thought I would be again, but she more than redeemed herself with her last three choices. Viva Heart !
I'm really surprised she didn't list Harry Nilsson's The Point!, because she's long-proclaimed to be a big fan of that album, both her and Ann.
She probably just ran out of "space," limited to only 5 top albums.
this beauty has still got it ! sizzle.
You have to see Nancy rocking out on youtube to her own song "barracuda" set up by Nuno Bettencourt and featuring Taylor Hawkins on drums, some female vocalist that I don't know and some other bass player. Its absolutely rock n roll power on steroids..

SO SHWEEEETTT...much love Tee with LIONS NAMED LEO.[the music worldwide}
soooo cool..!!
Bruce Springsteen? Seriously? I was onboard until she mentioned that dumpster fire. A political pick for sure.
I love her choices, especially Tumbleweed Connection (I love young Elton and Bernie), but my top 5 would have to include Abbey Road, Let It Bleed and All Things Must Pass.
My top 5
5. Van Halen 5150
4. Led Zep 1
3. Elton John's greatest hits
2. Bob Seger Against The Wind
1. Jimi Hendrx Smash hits
In reality the list would have to be expanded to 100 albums and it would include probably 20 acts from each decade from the 40's through the 90's.
My 5 must have on desert isle.
1. Fates Warning " Parallels
2. Rush " Power Windows "
3. Al Stewart " The Year of the Cat "
4. Pink Floyd " Dark Side Of The Moon "
5. Helloween " Pink Bubbles Go Ape "
My top 5 would have to include the Pink Floyds/ Relics album. Ummagumma was my first choice but I have to have some Roger Barrett in my Floyd mix, feels wrong not to.
I don't think I could go with never hearing The Who's Quadrophenia again.
Why am I not getting any sound? I am on other videos.
Interesting that many of her choices have a country/Americana bent - All GREAT records! Tumbleweed Connection is my favorite Elton album.
amazing for 67!
The poets heart speaks.
Being stranded on an island with Nancy Wilson doesn't sound too bad. 🏝
Hey, Anne and Nancy. We get it. You love Zeppelin. Enough already.
shes so beautiful.
What a delightful lady…
Very eclectic list, I dig it, and NO Seattle bands..
Have always loved Heart. Can’t stand Springsteen anymore.
He’s overrated IMHO. I saw him live once, and while it wasn’t a bad show, it was a little underwhelming.
I posted something similar. Very disappointed that Nancy would compromise her music integrity with politics.
@@shyman99 When did she do that?
@@rustybear5125 - Springsteen is garbage, so we know her motivation for naming him.
Robert Plant, Elton John. She has great taste. Springsteen?? No way. I've never understood the appeal. Kind of like Neil Young. I just dont hear or see it
Your latest album and the song “Arising”.
Chris Whitley-Living With The Law. Trust me
Its sad really. Not one real rock n roll album? Thanks for all the music you performed other people wrote!
