f(x) is SM's female experimental group. They have songs that do not sound like anything in Kpop during their era. They were doing stuff like EDM and heavy bass sounds long before it became normal in Kpop
Thank you for the shout out 💕 Somebody already said it but I have to reiterate, f(x) were ahead of their time. When this came out EDM wasn't big like nowadays, no one was making music like this in kpop. These girls were trendsetters! Btw, this song is a critique about how poorly the Sewol Ferry Disaster was handled, google it if you're interested. Warning 🚨 it's sad and might make you angry. Thanks for checking them out and can't wait to see more f(x) reactions~
Red Velvet's "One of these Nights" is about the same topic. The lyrics for the song are not, the video unmistakably is. Even though SM has officially denied it, there are WAY too many similarities to ignore.
Yessss thank u for this reaction!! f(x) was so ahead of their time and has arguably the most diverse and experimental discography in kpop as of right now. Would love to see you react more of their stuff, especially for their b-sides! p.s. the one you liked is Krystal! Blonde hair is krystal, short red haired rapper is Amber, short blue hair is Luna, long black hair is Victoria, and long brown hair with the ponytail is Sulli (she left the group around this time)
This is the group that inspired Red Velvet's experimental concept! It's just a shame that their company replaced f(x) with Red Velvet, just like Blackpink replaced 2NE1. These companies did these older groups so dirty imo.
f(x) has unfortunately been saddled with a production/management company (SM) that doesn't know what to do with them, but doesn't want anybody else to have these talented and creative ladies either; they've been all but sequestered for four years since their last contract renewal. HOWEVER, these contracts are just now expiring! The first member to officially leave SM is Amber (bright red hair, the rapper), this news just broke in the last day or so.
a lot of their music had revolutionary undertones. You would probably like Rum Pum Pum Pum. Luna from this group, Hani from Exid and Solar from Mamamoo did a video called Honeybee. I recommend Honeybee.
Fun Fact: alot of Red velvet songs that are released today that are unique sound was because of f(x)'s experiment on the public. Because the public like f(x)'s songs SM entertainment was able to use the data from the past and form better songs for their new groups. Please also check out f(x) member Amber and Luna they now produce alot of their own songs even though SM haven't been putting out any songs out for SM for years. Also please check out F(x) 4 wall
Can I suggest you to do a reaction to Brown Eyed Girls? They are one of the oldest groups, who still are active today (2006-now). They popularized (or actually I think they have introduced) the sexy concept to kpop, and they have always been known for pushing boundaries with their concept and lyrics. From them I would recommend “warm hole” & “abracadabra” as two diffrent songs :)
Just an fyi... this song and video are a tribute to the over 300 high-school students who needlessly and tragically died in the Sewol Ferry sinking. Red Velvet's video for "One Of These Nights" ( hands-down the most beautiful song ever in the history of Kpop, and I'll fight anyone who says differently ) covers the same topic.
Nobody commented on your question about the eye patch & symbolism. The song is supposedly really about taking note of our need to stop the climate change path we are on, although the strict translation of the lyrics could be applied to more than one idea. Like the burning book, the red warning light, the unanswered phone, & the cat with different colored eyes, the women's eyes throughout the video are a warning that something is wrong. They only do makeup on one eye in some shots & in other shots their hair or an eye patch covers one eye. It symbolizes people not seeing (or choosing not to see, due to greed, selfishness, or a feeling of helplessness as they just keep on rushing through life) without stopping to think of the warning signs around them that we (the world) are in crisis. I think the military look of their outfits means we should all do our part to take up the cause to be "eco-warriors". [But when they did the song in Japan they had to change the line about the caterpillar, because there is (or was at the time) actually an eco-terrorist group in Japan called Caterpillar. They didn't want the song or the group to be associated with people that go too far that way.]
i liked it hanks another song for the playlist :) already have all (G)I-dle and Soyeon solo and collab stuff but looking forward to more dreamcatcher and ill drop a like for mamamoo only have the one you showed me :)

Yes!! F(X) the one who started unique concept and music style in Kpop
Thank you for the shout out 💕

I'm glad these idols were taking the chance to talk about it... but that's terrible it happened.

2NE1 also re-arranged "Come Back Home" live for this as well, and I'd put it up against "One of Theses Nights". Love both.
cheers
