"turns out crocket and burnet are the same person" vaguely remember that line from high school. miami vice had some amazing cameos by some amazing people. frank was one.
His Baltimore accent would work well then. The way it's mixed with an occasional faux latino phrase here , is not convincing. An unknown would not have gotten the part with that delivery.
Such a great episode. Zappa did great in this episode since he was great. Then the very next year, the man Frank Sinatra guest starred on Magnum PI. Back then, that's when shows and movies had real music stars as guest stars. Nowadays we have the same ol' crap; Katy Perry, Ke$ha, Eminem, Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Iggy Azalea, Rick Ross, Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Drake, Meek Mill, Big Sean, Nicki Minaj, Juicy J, Wiz Khalifa, Kid Cudi, A$AP Ferg, A$AP Rocky, Fetty Wap, Charli XCX, Meghan Trainor, Taylor Swift, Jason Derulo, One Direction, and Maroon 5. It's time to trade in those "artists" for the real artists of music: Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, Frank Sinatra, Miles Davis, Louis Armstrong, Louis Prima, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Bing Crosby, Elvis Presley, Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, and Frank Zappa.
I'm a huge Zappa fan, have all of the official releases, spent way too much money on bootleg albums in the 80s, etc. etc. but I cannot listen to Francesco Zappa. Tried a few times. Just couldn't get into it. I know it isn't music composed by Frank Zappa, but maybe because it isn't played by real people it just doesn't have the "eyebrows" on it. Other than that, Zappa is thumbs up!
I always remember him saying 'I only deal in quarter ton blocks', that always cracked me up when I'd be watching this with my high roller gram of weasel dust
"Weasel dust ripped my nasal membranes, I learned to hate it every minute " ( This has been another public service anouncement from the Do it Now Foundation)
Jamie D'Hont It's by Jan Hammer on his Escape from Television or Miami Vice Complete OST. TRACK is "The Trial and The Search" 04:33. (Note- the track is a medley. The track you want is somewhere around 02:30) Also, the track is also used on a different episode of MV. The title "the search" was featured on an episode where Tubbs was drugged and left for dead by Haitian Voodoo worshippers. The music was feature when Crockett was "searching" for Tubbs. Hence the title.
i know zappa loved TV, but could someone link me an interview where he talks about this? It's hard to believe he was a fan of this show considering his own personal tastes.
"Weasel Dust" dealer Mario Fuente 😁 Frank Zappa looked like an albino, surrounded by sun worshippers on that episode. Was never a picnic kinda guy 😂 ... Music is the best :^{=
i'm surprised he never took more acting roles he has such a natural charisma i keep misremembering him as being a character in several John waters films!
Um.........ok. Zappa the drug lord. That was unsettling for me. So was Jan Hammer's soundtrack. I think they were both killed and replaced with clones prior to this series.
+ChrisAndTommy GoodTimeFolkRockShow Hardly. You don't see this kind of quality today. It's all "How much will I make an our, and can I send a selfie to my best friends while we're shooting?" Seldom any real talent. And don't even remind me of the music, Miami Vice's atmospheric tunes isn't even understood by the general public, as shitty consumer tunes are the only things in focus.
Mr Fuentes is waiting. Crockett is waiting. The electrifying wolves are waiting. The girls are waiting. Last but not least, event Morotto is waiting for the slambold cop. Everybody is waiting, wth! May be the LAG /Morphy
Massive Zappa fan here. Despite that, I find this one of the strangest projects he ever did. Seems inconsistent with his persona. “I’m the slime oozing out from you TV set”...15 years later, a guest spot on “Miami Vice”?!?
He stole my quarter-ounce green rosette. I could never forgive him for that.
Nor should you. 🧐
I tried to watch this on my kerosene powered computer. It ran out so I never got to that part... :'(
He was using the chicken to measure it.
"Weasel Dust"!!! ... Several connections here to Frank's career and life.
thought the same haha
His conceptual continuity
Does weasel dust rip your flesh? 😁
It's the dust of the grand wazoo.
This scene would have worked much better if Frank was playing a black market dental floss salesman from Montana.
While sitting on a toilet and using a rubber chicken to measure it. Wowie Zowie.
Lmao
What a depth Zappa add to this. Wonderful!
Man the 80’s looks and sounds awesome
No they were kinda lame
Long live Zappa!!!
Some ppl are just born with the magnetism that makes them a star in anything they do.
Some people like cupcakes better!
Some people are born with just the right moustache.
(But only in Centerville, cuz it's a real nice place to raise your kids up...)
@@kenlieck7756 true that! When one can create a logo utilizing a mustache and soul patch it can only be FZ.
Weasel Dust Ripped My Flesh!
+Brian T hahahaha. love it
I caught that reference.
"turns out crocket and burnet are the same person" vaguely remember that line from high school. miami vice had some amazing cameos by some amazing people. frank was one.
Wow!Zappa and Jan Hammer of Mahavishnu Orchestra in Miami Vice. Two of the greatest musicians in the world. I need to see this episode.
The music, at the beginning of this scene, is awesome.
miami vice had quite the stellar cast of guest stars and resplendent scenery.
"Resplendent Scenery"? I saw him do that one in Kansas with Terry Bozzio playing a fantastic yucca stalk solo in 13/17 time.
My god the transfers are amazing quality
Wow! I didn't know he did t.v. spots! This is fantastic! I love Zappa! ❤
He did that one spot.
@@absolutelypositively He probably figured that once was enough! LOL
@@absolutelypositively Not quite, he showed on a few shows, but it was pretty rare thing for him to do.
3 million of my favorite dollars.... lol
A Brilliant Ep! I wished we could have seen more of Frank Zappa as the same character in future eps....he was a force to be reckon with
Conceptual continuity of course :)
what izz?
ZaPPa would have made an EXCELLENT bad dude in "Breaking Bad" 👍😎
His Baltimore accent would work well then. The way it's mixed with an occasional faux latino phrase here , is not convincing. An unknown would not have gotten the part with that delivery.
"Weasel Dust". Ha, ha, ha
Best show ever
He is a dental floss tycoon.

+jazzalex22 you sure did name a lot of musicians.
Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Deep Purple, Dio, Jackson 5, Lynyrd Sknyrd, Fleetwood Mac
True, very true....
There are no actual stars anymore. You think people will look back 40 years from now and buy Justin Beiber reissues? I hope not.
Many people considered a lot of the "real artists" you named to be "the same ol crap" back in the day.
I might be the only one who loves ALL of Frank's music.. He makes a great drug Lord❤
I'm a huge Zappa fan, have all of the official releases, spent way too much money on bootleg albums in the 80s, etc. etc. but I cannot listen to Francesco Zappa.

How many bloopers they made for this scene? Too funny 😀😀 all the villain gestures, man, how did the other actors keep a straight face!
probably why so much of the scene is zappa talking but not on camera lol
Great quality this video, this was my favorite episode.😊😊
I love Frank 🎸
3 million of my favorite dollars. hahaha
I always remember him saying 'I only deal in quarter ton blocks', that always cracked me up when I'd be watching this with my high roller gram of weasel dust
That Was Legendary Grand - Great!!!! - M2.H.B. 2015!
I waited long time meng for my Dweezil dust
I was addicted to weasel dust in the 80s, giving up was the hardest thing I ever had to do. I was nine.
That and the Jelly Bentines. Awful stuff. Even the CIA refused to traffic those.
That is awesome. Love the Zappa !!!
Zappa was great in this!!!
Love me some Frank Z!
Zappa's younger brother of Sopranos' *SHAH OF IRAN*
WEASEL DUST for my real friends, dusted weasels for my sham friends.
Shampoo for my real friends, real poo for my sham friends
champagne for my real friends ,real pain for my sham friends.
Frank was the real deal 👌 💯 🙌 😌
After years of faithful service, he hurried away with my favorite publicity photo of a boy named, Punky Meadows. (Oh, Punky!)
anyone knows the music from the beginning of the video?
Priceless
Is Don Johnson's jacket tucked into the back of his pants?
What's the name of the Jan Hammer piece that plays here?
0:03 Same Theme from Tale of the Goat.... "Zombie" 😄
Grande Frank !!
"Weasel dust ripped my nasal membranes, I learned to hate it every minute " ( This has been another public service anouncement from the Do it Now Foundation)

Weasel dust!
i know zappa loved TV, but could someone link me an interview where he talks about this? It's hard to believe he was a fan of this show considering his own personal tastes.
He was never a fan. He only did this appearance because his son Dweezil was a fan of the show.
cool francesco zappa
The $3million dollars in 1986 would be $7.3million now!
Smack dealer extraordinaire

Well, his acting is better than Dylan's.
"Weasel Dust" dealer Mario Fuente 😁 Frank Zappa looked like an albino, surrounded by sun worshippers on that episode. Was never a picnic kinda guy 😂 ... Music is the best :^{=
Studio Tan..
Surprised “Moroto” was never a secret word
I bet the Central Scrutinizer is his plug…
Lol. Zappa wrote satires about these shows
and he was a muffin
I just canot get off that good weasel dust. Im a bad man.
Frank could really act. I wish there was a closure to that story.
i'm surprised he never took more acting roles he has such a natural charisma i keep misremembering him as being a character in several John waters films!

Why did the bathing suit model get up to leave?
PAYBACK
would you like something to eat...as Zappa looks at the chick...
What inspired Frank to want to do that🙄🤮
weasel dust
I'd rather watch "Zappa Vice."
Frank is the best. I forgive him for that piss poor accent.
Massive Zappa fan here. Despite that, I find this one of the strangest projects he ever did. Seems inconsistent with his persona. “I’m the slime oozing out from you TV set”...15 years later, a guest spot on “Miami Vice”?!?
Back in the day, everyone wanted to be on Miami Vice
he probably did it for comedy reasons.
This is just to much
Not the greatest actor, but entertaining nonetheless.
