The collaboration between Dead Poet Society and The Warning on "Hurt" started pretty organically. It all began when The Warning was working on Keep Me Fed with producer Anton DeLost, who also produced Dead Poet Society’s album Fission. When "Hurt" dropped, The Warning heard it in the studio and became instant fans, even congratulating Anton on the track’s success. Pau, in particular, loved the song, and it quickly became a favorite. The two bands first met on Shiprocked, where Pau was spotted singing along to "Hurt" on social media-a moment that caught Dead Poet Society's attention. Hearing the song live for the first time only deepened the connection for The Warning. The idea for a live collaboration came from Dead Poet Society’s A&R, who suggested they reach out to The Warning since both bands would be at Aftershock. Jack Underkofler, Dead Poet Society’s frontman, loved the idea but kept forgetting to send the message, repeatedly telling himself he’d do it at the next rest stop. Finally, the day before the festival, he messaged Ale on Instagram to ask if any of them wanted to perform "Hurt" on stage. Despite the last-minute request, Pau immediately said yes, and the result was an electric live performance that cemented the idea of recording a version together. In the new studio version, the instrumentals remain the same as the original track, played by Dead Poet Society. Dany, Pau, and Ale from The Warning contribute backing vocals, with Jack, Pau, and Dany sharing lead vocal duties.
Loved your reaction to this. This is exactly my kind of jam. The syncopation throughout is awesome and you made a really really good point about how the phrases have a delayed onset (different from syncopation because it's sort of linguistic in delay rather than metronomic; Eg, like how some poetry needs certain words to last a little longer or shorter to make the phrase impact in an unusual way. I think you're right that this is indeed the big hook of this song and sets it apart. Each line of lyrics ends 1 beat after the musical phrase in the verses, and yet it does not sound at all 'jammed' or crammed. It's very very creative and I think might make this song last a long time as a favorite of at least some of us.
Everything, I mean EVERYTHING The Warning is solid GOLD right now. They are the best band in the world and I am like a proud parent every time I watch them.
@@SDsailor7 From what I understand Ale's range is almost as good as Dany's, but it is really hard to tell because she really only sings backing vocals. Now there are a few videos out there that are interesting (The Warning - Pitch Perfect Challenge ua-cam.com/video/gO9lTdrWJcw/v-deo.html and Taratata Extra : The Warning "Qué Más Quieres" (2024) ua-cam.com/video/QSCgQRhs2CI/v-deo.html (Ale's voice in this one is really clear)).
Good song, love The Warning and whoever they perform with, 3 Days Grace, Dead Poets Society, Eruca Sativa, Band Maid, loved every performance. Thank you for this reaction and thank you for the sub-titles.
Please pardon my lack of Spanish, pero...I can hear Dany's voice and Pau's voice when they appear, pero...at the very end of the song...is it only the DPS drummer playing solo, or does Paulina accompany in a duet? I cannot tell!
Excellent Cami. Now you need to react to Pau and Dany performing it live with DPS in CDMX! ua-cam.com/video/SFB4pYCa1o0/v-deo.htmlsi=f-4glsAxwP_IDOtK 👍😎

I like this collaboration better than Show Them w/Band-Maid.

Great reaction, Cami. Your discussion of the vocals is right on. You are in the zone with this track.
Thank you 🫶🏻
This collaboration must be given a 10. Nice reaction Cami. 🤘
Thank you Fer 🤗

Anton DeLost produced this album before he produced Keep Me Fed. According to the credits Ale is somewhere in the vocal mix but I can't pick her out.
@@paulrowe006 ohhh that makes total sense!! Ale must be reinforcing the high notes and chorus is my best guest ❤️
@@CamiVocalistCan Ale hit high notes? I thought her voice in the songs is low? I would like to know.
Quizá esté reforzando las notas altas desde las bajas.@@SDsailor7

@@SDsailor7 Ale can sing a beautiful falsetto, I heard this in one of their shorts covering a covering a song.

Thank you for watching! I also love The warning ‼️ authentic talent and music 🎶 Greetings James
Love your reaction. Good analysis of the song ritmo. Está canción es 🔥.
Thanks!
Thank you so much for the support 🙏🏻
❤️⚡🤘 this is two amazing bands doing amazing things together. Thank you Anton!
Such a cool collaboration on a great song.
Nicely done.
I like it!!
💪🏻❤️🙏🏻
