I have said every season the difference between us and Celtic with regards goals, is they are always top heavy and rotate with strikers. We always mainly rely on one 1. Its been a problem since Morelos. Top teams have at least 3 to 4 quality striker options for different types of games. If our one main guy isn't firing, we haven't had anyone else. We now have Igamane, who hopefully does well when he gets scoring. To be fair Danilo costing so much and being injured doesn't help either. I hope Igamane is scoring for us soon and Danilo gets playing soon. Goals also need to come from other areas as well, but that doesn't get away from the fact we never load with enough strikers. The team needs to push more there. I suspect if we have Jefte at LB and Nana at RB. Things will improve in attack. Any idea when Danilo will be available again, also could we bring in a striker on loan if he is not going to be playing soon?
Tav can't play RB forever. Also at his age it would be ideal to be able to rest him. We also need to know who else can step up for the future of the position. Either Nana or Sterling should get a turn or run at RB. On current form it would be Nana. I think Sterling could do it, but I also thinknhe would be good at RCB as cover for Souttar, with Balogun covering Propper. Any captain should be big enough at any club to show the rest of the players that they are big enough to react to being on the bench or being given a rest the right way. A good captain won't become a trouble maker for being dropped. Its an opportunity for the captain to set the tone for the other subs and players that aren't playing regular. Show them the attitude and effort in training and the ideal way to go about things when dropped. I see an oppotunity for Tav to rest and be a positive example to others.
A rest? He should be working on his positional awareness which is dire. Clement doesn't escape criticism here. Tavernier is targeted game after game by every team yet still this leggy positionally inept player is first choice. Get a grip Clement.
You are right. If Clement is a good coach, he should be able to highlight the errors to Tav and coach that out of him on the defensive side. No player should be too old or past learning.
