Hey Andy, train guy here. Y'all need to look at getting a fuel and tool cart like the Millennial Farmer has. Keep your equipment and trucks in the fields longer. Something minor breaks you'd have tools, maybe parts to get back in service quicker. Maybe your wife or Mom can drive it to a worksite. God bless your family that the harvest continues well.
Millennial Farmer has a lot fewer acres, and has that fuel rig because a sponsor provides it for free. More pieces of equipment require more people to run them around. Andy's family hasn't run a successful farming operation for 150 years because of pure luck. They know what their requirements are. Some things are in the "would be nice to have" category, rather than real needs. Some farms want huge shops and grain handling systems, others prefer to invest elsewhere.
@@davedammitt7691 I don’t know if that is correct they just got an s780 and the extra hours that they put on the combine would pay for a fuel trailer within 2 years
@@davedammitt7691I think all he is saying is that time is money and being more efficient would benefit an operation Andy’s size. Don’t think 25-30k would hurt them if it meant added efficiency.
You don't need to convince Andy, he has been complaining about not having one for ages, you need to convince his dad or one of the other elders who own enough of the farm to spend its money.
Lenny sure is a cute little farming buddy!! He speaks many words of wisdom. The grown ups just have to decipher what he is saying. Keep the vids coming 👍
Just out of curiousity, how come the combines don't cut a path sideways through the corn to make it easier for you to cut through instead of going alllll the way around the ends all the time?
Corn is harvest with the rows. You can pick across the rows for a short distance, but you won't get all of the corn ears in the head. It's just not worth wasting any crop.
Legally, the semi trailers can hold around 950 bushels of corn...maybe a little less. If it's dry, heavy corn, you can fit a little more than 1000 bushels on.
Andy... It looked like Lenny was enjoying some Dad time checking the equipment, looks like farming is in his future. Would it be cost effective from a fual usage stand point to trade in ya'lls current grain cart for one of the J&M 22 Series grain carts that have a higher capacity? I went to their website and their largest capacity 22 Series cart holds like 1412 bushels. I noticed when you did a time lapse it sure looked like you were averaging two combine hoppers per load in the cart. Also how many grain cart loads does it take to completely fill the haul trucks?
It takes 2 full combine loads to fill a semi. When the combines are full and dumping while harvesting, they actually can dump upwards of 6-650 bushels off before they are empty. A bigger cart always helps, but you will always have a limiting factor somewhere even if it isn't the cart. A full grain cart can fill about 1.4-1.5 trucks.
Just wondering what about having one driver stay at at the farm dumping trucks and the other guy runs trucks. Brings full trucks jumps out and into the empty heads for the field. Then you constantly moving .
I watch a ton of ag UA-cam so I apologize if you have answered this question either in comments or in a video prior but I was curious if those products that you talk about at the beginning of this video, especially the fungicides, would completely prevent white mold kill off in bean? I’ve seen many people that have mentioned white mold and how it caused quite a hit in yield so I was wondering I guess if a single pass with a premium fungicide is enough to prevent white mold or if not, how would you choose a product to fight such an issue in your field?
We are further south than a lot of the other UA-camrs, so we do not deal with white mold currently. Fungicides would definitely help, but I am not sure which one is the best. Many of the fungicides that we use aren't specifically targeted at white mold.
Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Just ran the Chinese Parent Company called ChemChina, or ''Syngenta,'' out of the state. Siting it is on a list of Chinese military Companies. There is a in depth article on it, online. Along with a video of the press conference. Looks like more money being sent over seas, and not staying stateside by patronizing this business. Employing a few local people doesn't benefit anyone if the intention is malice, to begin with. Just wanted to make you aware of the company you're pushing on your audience!
It's not out of the goodness of her heart. She won't run the many many other companies out It's all a political thing I'm sure. Someone didn't pay the big man or woman their cut, now they're making a big show of it to look good to voters
Name one agricultural chemical company that isn't either owned by a foreign entity or sourcing raw ingredients from China? That is the nature of the global economy. I have had nothing but great results from Syngenta's products, and the American employees that we have dealt with since long before their sale to ChemChina are still as reliable and effective as always. What malice could China gain from by harming our agricultural system? They literally need our crops to feed their gigantic population. The cheaper our food is the better!
@@aTrippyFarmer wasn’t trying to be negative, I understand it’s a double edged sword when it comes to the people they employ. As you said, nearly everything we consume comes from China. Agree on the trailer. The more u can stay in the field and not putting on extra hrs is a plus

@philhosier9185 Why do you make dumbass remarks like that?

Toddlers speak their own language. I am still learning!
Drone video again...outstanding your little helper is a cutie
Thanks 👍
Your collection of grain bins is interesting
They have been acquired over the last 40 years... that's why they don't all match!
So good to see mate, you seem like an awesome father at the same time raising the next generation to feed the country 🤙🏻🤙🏻
I appreciate that!

Good news, you got corn! You do a heck of a job editing too by the way.
I'm good at one thing at least!
Go Jeff hey Katy looking good get it done
👍👍👍
Last year I messaged about looking at Border View Farms for the mold concern, this year he should look to you for the answer.
I'm not sure about mold. We don't seem to get much of it around here... yet!
Great job Andy and Co. as always, another gem. Love the quote” always legal loads and we follow the rules” hahaha. Y’all stay safe and take care🇺🇸💪🏻🇺🇸
Thanks 👍
I would definitely look at a rodono extend to speed up your operations with all the bins you have
I will!
OK, was I the only one who turned on Subtitles/closed captions when Lenny talks?
Did it work? I can't always understand him!
Good job guys

What did you add to your wish list!?
Bigger Drapers!!
Time for fourth truck. I think Tony Fast has one for sale. Glad to see good yields .
Or a 2nd grain cart
We need more trucks!
Keep the trucks and trailers and add a mother bin so they can grab loads on their own 😂
I've yet to see a motherbin around here... I'll wait until the neighbors get one!

your operation really need a grain leg to get trucks dumped faster.
It would be nice, but those cost a fortune!

Too much corn, not enough trucks. Nice problem to have
I guess so. We need another trucker!
I don't see why would even try with 2 combines in corn
Old habits die hard!
Andy, In total how many acres do you farm?
A few thousand!
Time to buy another truck and trailer. Trucks should be cheaper this year.
I've heard they are way down in price!
👍👍👍👍👍

Thanks for watching!
Andy, do you use soil tests for greater yeilds ?
We soil test just to maintain soil quality. Yields are a result of that!
Another bad idea from your dad.
Less than optimal maybe... not necessarily bad!
