I like how the camper decided at the end that as you're not going to keep it, then it'll just dismantle itself instead... :P
4x4 anytime... You can camp anywhere if you put on some decent 4x4 tyres on!
Close the (plastic)window while driving! One blow of wind and it’s gone! 😱
We're lucky here in the UK as when our vehicles get to 40 years old they don't require tax or mot. 3 years to go on my eribacar 😊
here its 8 years between MOT and the tax drops by 75% at 35 years... currently the 4x4 is a whopping 2400 euros a year.... :O cant wait for it to be 35 years old....
Yes! It saves us 0.8% of motoring costs! (I've never understood British people's obsession with MOT and tax costs).
Camper vans are a great idea if you get some use out of them well my 1997 Toyota Hilux came with cruise control but it doesn't work and it was an optional extra which the first owner had it fitted and l have never seen cruise control fitted to any other generation 5 Hilux but it also have air-conditioning which does work especially l live in Australia and in summer it gets pretty warm and the Hilux is also has a carburator but once you go over 2 litres with four cylinder engine the Hilux has a 2.4 litre engine the fuel economy drops and running the air-conditioning it drops even further and l like than in your 4X4 Camper van the only problem is ceiling hight for you
The lack of headroom will always annoy you but why not use an awning tent with it so you can stand up and have more room for baby stuff, changing and chemical toilet etc.
Ah no worries about the speedo cable. Toss yer phone into the holder you already have mounted on the windshield, pull up the GPS speed data…good to go! 🍻
Yea that takes care of speed, but not odometer.. But just recived a new cable today :D
I’ve been running leafs for nearly 6 years now. They’ve been great for all the reasons you give. Perfect for doing the boring miles comfortably and quickly. Maintenance has been a huge perk too - servicing is cheap and the only mechanical jobs I did on my old leaf were brakes (rust, not wear) and front bottom arms at 70,000 miles. I think an electric car for the commute and another car for high days/holidays is the best combination 👍
It's not a good idea to remove the insulation but you're willing to remove the entire roof?
Maybe you could buy an old caravan and use the interior and the electric luxury to upgrade your 4x4
Well, it might come as a surprise, but i also vote for the 4x4!
:O
Enjoy all the trips
Nice campers these. I do like the look of the facelift verdion better, especially the doors. But understand that the 4x4 is a lot cooler 👌😃
Seppo, you can easily build an interior as fine as the white one. One of the best purchase you can do is a 12v compressor fridge. They work very very well and use almost no electricity form your leisure battery. I have a "china" one on my t4 since 2021 and it's just amazing. The other thing is buying a solar panel...And than you can buy all the water pump for the sink and maybe a shower in the back. An other very useful thing is an awning (Fiamma made very good one). They transform your experience. So... it's very very fun building your own camper! You wont regret it!
I think your right... and I will enjoy it so much more if I made it myself! :D Im gonna look into a 12v compressore fridge!
Entertaining as always. I also have a camper to build, after I finish the house. It will be smaller as it has to be baised on a SWB VW form factor as it needs to fit under a 2m barrier and into a normal parking space. I miss my old LWB GMC 2500, lods of space and power.....but 2km per liter on a good day.....at the time it was 83c (american) for a gallon (4 litres) so we didn't care
wow 2kml! :P
A better engine and four-wheel drive is definitely the way to go.
Sell them both and buy one that suits you, you have enough ‘projects’ 😂
heheh but I am breathing for projects!
Has your daughter started showing an interest in fixing up cars?
Not really.. but Im proud to say that she has been in more classic cars then many people get to do in a life time already... :D
Maybe you need a donor caravan for some of the interior fittings...
Yea or a pick a part place with caravans :D
yep, 4x4 is the way :D
Great content as always. I have a similar year camper to there and would be very interested to know what make and model the cruise control unit is and how it works. Will you be moving the cruise control to the 4 x 4?
Think its a universal thing? not sure... but it seems very simple and I am unsure whether it just holds the throttle cable in place when you press it... :P
It wont work on the 4x4 as its a totally different engine :)
