I was there and I never liked Prince music. The reason he trashed off stage. He tried to get us to sing a song called Jack me off. The crowd went berserk. I helped trash him off. And I would do it again.😊
Some intense movements there, you’re an opening act for a big well known rock group The Rolling Stones didn’t go so well get booed off the stage and wants to give up, call it a learning experience pick yourself up and try again. So far this is fantastic 👍🏾
Shame that there is no footage of these shows.. would love to see how they stood up to the crowd.... and to hear them play hard. I imagine it was amazing. Odd that none has surfaced ... I wonder what Prince did with all that footage that Morris recorded.. I bet he erased it... I wonder?
Morris Day has absolutely said he filmed it. However, Jerome said Prince trashed the Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis no-show immediately after the show where Lisa Coleman & Prince played their parts.
I was there on the 9th. down front. the crowd was giving him a chance on the first couple songs. they had a NEW WAVE feel. the crowd turned on him when he started flashing his G-string. Morris was running a video recorder and may very well be the only footage? If that is the case, does it still exist? If it does, it is very rare. You would think someone has stumbled on it by now.
You can see how the narrative of purple rain, about the struggles of making it and getting accepted was relevant in his life with his shaky showcase concert to warner executives and then support act mess with rolling stones
