What a enviromentalist prasing someone who says patakas have no Impact : Diwali has no real connection with firecrackers. Traditionally, it was a vibrant celebration of Lord Rama’s return, marked by lighting diyas as an expression of love and devotion. Firecrackers, on the other hand, are harmful - they lead to significant pollution, which can be easily seen in the rise of AQI levels around Diwali. People often start setting off crackers days in advance, which worsens the issue. Unlike fireworks displays in places like the USA or Dubai, where a single entity handles it for a short duration, here everyone celebrates individually, and with our large population, the impact is massive.
Not only do firecrackers pollute the air, but they also terrify animals, especially loud ones like sutli bombs or horse crackers. It’s heartbreaking to see how such a beautiful festival, meant to honor a divine return, has turned into a celebration of noise and pollution rather than a true expression of joy and reverence.

Instead of stubble burning, farmers should sell the harvested waste biomass to biogas production units. The biogas units can use those biomass for production of biogas and fuels through processes like gasification and saccharification of wastes. Also the farmers can use the biomass for mushroom cultivations. I think this might help reduce air pollution levels.

What is harvested waste here ? can u give light on it. It's the leftover which is of no use. However what we can do we can celebrate our festival in other ways which are already there.

      @shivamsingh7389 Рік тому +4

@@vinodyadav-ip1se Harvested waste I believe is referring to the wheat stock that is left in the farm lands after harvesting the grains. It is of no use to the farmer, however it can be used to create biofuel, or even used as natural decomposed fertilizers. Once again, we can infact celebrate Diwali in different ways, I for one do not burn fire cracker and have no interest in adding to the pollution, but that doesn't mean we should take away the joy of celebration from the other kids and families. It is also about fairness, why exactly is Diwali targeted every year? But not other holidays like Eid, Christmas etc. There is mass slaughter of animals on Eid and huge deforestation during Christmas, but no one talks about it. But when it comes to Hindu festivals, there seems to be no end to the criticism.

Diwali marks Lord Rama's return to Ayodhya with Maa Sita and Lord Lakshman after spending 14 years in exile and defeating the King of Lanka, Ravana. The festival celebrates the country's cultural heritage and is observed all over the country.

People who burst firecrackers just burst them for 15-20mins of joy but people like me have to struggle to breathe these 2-3 days. Believe me it's hell. Apart from asthma I also have anxiety issues, whenever there's a loud noise my chest tightens up. It's not only about me but several people like me.... What joy can one get knowing well that their actions contribute to many people suffering? We feel that our "religion" is being attacked, Hindus suffer in this country etc etc just because we are not allowed to burn firecrackers??
Diwali was never about burning firecrackers, it's a festival of light. Light is not only a physical concept but also an abstract one. Don't let your immature actions harm others, diwali is my festival as well please don't ruin my festival of lights.

    I'll be honest
It causes a lot of noise pollution. It's kind of annoying for me but still I can understand as some people do have fun and it's a part of some people's income. I have seen multiple animals(dogs,cats,etc..) tremble with fear. I saw one yesterday which wasn't even able to move due to fear in my violin class and my neighbour's dog keeps running around the house in panic.
Most of the old street dogs don't panic that much but a few young street dogs and cats do panic. I saw my friend's hamster trembling.
I understand that there are many other factors that cause more pollution which should be stopped but Noise pollution is a big factor too in Diwali.

You're right mam. We can look at this problem in two perspectives.
    1) On an individual level, we are so focused on momentary pleasure that we tend to ignore long-term effects. We watch movies before exams and delay preperation till the last minute. We burn crackers on Diwali, see the smoke rising into the sky and we clap. In so many areas of our lives, we choose momentary pleasures that may cause serious harm in the future. Till that mentality changes among people, no cracker bans going to work.
    2) On a governmental level, it simply must ban crackers. That's it. No other way to say it. It must ban every stall that sells crackers. It must ban stubble burning and take action against those who break it. It can't always ask the citizenry politely, For the greater good, it needs to take a tougher stand. It wouldn't either. The minute you act tough, people revolt.

I am a Hindu and am not against Diwali, but our ancestors did not have crackers and they also celebrated Diwali with lamps, so why can't we?
edited ;-ok so after some research i got to know that firecraker used in ancient time also
but still as population in recent time is huge as compare to ancient time so firecrakes do not affect much that time but nowadays on the day of diwali whole india burst crakers which creates large amount of hazardous substance in one night and at the same time winters are there so all the fumes gets stuck in atmosphere which can definetly cause severe problem
at the end we are not totaly quit this but yes we can limit this atleast:)

The cigarette example was top notch stupidity. I don't smoke cigarettes if someone else smokes I can get away from them. But in times of Diwali people who have lung diseases are forced to breathe the air pollutants and smoke caused by crackers. If you want to die, please go and die what will an old man who has lung and heart disease do... what can a kid who has asthma do?

Santa was not part of original Christmas, same way some aspect are included with time. Firecracker are 600 year old. Even Lakshmi pujan was not originally a part of Diwali. This is just a process where people adopt something to make the festival more cheerful
