My fellow Narmaya beginners. I have a success story to share. I faced off against a Belial that definitely knew the game better than i did. I got nearly perfected the first round. I was overwhelmed, this dude had his combos down and everything, and i don't know his moveset or how he kept getting these big combos started. Before round 2, i took a moment to reflect on the loss, and realized he was getting big combos off of jumping in. I started keeping my distance and poking with standing medium into the long range special, and then when he would jump in i would DP him! It actually worked really well!! That with some dash light -> autocombo vs grab mix ups i took the round! I then got beat the third round and lost the game. but practicing spacing and anti airs really does work wonders!!!! I made him work harder that third round compared to the first. I think the appropriate mindset for us beginners is to play to improve rather than play to win, and in that mindset, that game was a big W. Im super hyped to continue improving!
Really needed this. Coming from accent core im kinda struggling with how slower paced the game is, so a basic rundown how the neutral is played is super helpful
This is immensely valuable for any beginner like myself really wanting to get into the game but who might be feeling lost on what to do or feeling too overwhelmed going through the first stages of learning. Thank you so much for the effort you put into these !
Yeah I myself was looking for some decent recourses that were updated for the new game to send to friends but didn't find any. So I decided to make some. Glad to hear it helps.
THANK YOU SO MUCH , i'm a beginner and also in fighting games in general , she catched my eyes as soon as i saw a stream of her , she literally made me buy the game at this point xD, This is so valuable i couldnt be thankfull enough ♥
Kagura (blue) normals are really really good for corner pressure. 5L is plus, and you can set up some really strong strike/throw setplay. Plus it's a natural frametrap into k5H, if that hit you get your full corner combo. Or you can do k5L > j. k214H, also super super good and gets you a full corner combo if it lands. Her strike/throw is super good
Thanks for putting this in the comments. I kind of wish I went more in depth in this guide but I think for a vid just to get people into the character its fine. I go into Kagura stance more in pt. 2.
Bookmarking this for later. I think Narmaya will be my second main, next to Zeta. I'm not a FG player and this is the first time I've been into a FG since SF 3rd Strike!
Fighting game lingo like DP and meaty might make it hard for beginner-beginners to understand. The numbers for directional input as well. But it might be hard to avoid some of that shorthand while also keeping it brief.
@@SemiQuest I tried Narmaya on a free weekend a couple weeks back and committed! I'm now learning some more complicated stance switch combos and how to pressure in Kagura stance. Your vid made it all possible so just wanted to shout back some love~ Especially cuz I was looking for a beginner Zooey guide for my friend who's only playing the free version rn as well and of course your GOATed content pops up. Cheers!
For sure, I can take any requests for characters. I have zeta coming soon and after that I'm open to suggestions! Hopefully I can get a decent amount of the cast before DLC comes out.
My first take would have been Zeta, so gg xD After her I'm particularly interested in Vira and Nier (even if Nier seems so hard to master D:)@@SemiQuest
So that combo kind of hard but, I would say slow down a little when doing it, at least get the inputs out then make it faster. There is kind of a rhythm for the jump cancel when doing the 236H~U jc. j.214H (back special + H). I use the easy imput for the instant air 214H. You can also just practice that part and if you do it right the 235H~U jc. j.214H will hit. If you need a specific part explained more I can definitely help more.
I think it will be better if you just used Granblue terms like sayin 5L 2L instead of 5P 2P, unless the person who watch plays Guilty Gear, they wouldn't get it right away. Nonetheless great beginner guide.
Yeah my bad. I'm going to fix it in future guides. I made this vid just for the discord people and my friends. Didn't expect it to do so well so I didn't re-record. And thanks for feedback!
it's also worth mentioning that jump M is the ONLY air normal that hits cross up, in both stances. jump H and jump U look like they should hit behind you but they don't. also pink jump U is like the longest normal ever. with how hitboxes work in granblue I have won matches via whiffpunishes from across the screen that look ridiculous.
I’m about 11hrs into the game and struggling with getting halfway through the first combo you showed at the end. I think this guide showed me pivotal: this game’s fast. Like, really fast. Relative to my time playing strive, I have to play at a whole new, currently very uncomfortable speed to make these strings even possible. How do you get used to the speed?
Main thing is definitely to slow down first then once you get used to dealing with things slowly start going faster. Also that combo at the end is pretty optimal so I recommend just doing easier combos that you can land and get used to playing the game. As you improve your ability to input things naturally gets better and you will get the combo easy.
@@SemiQuest thanks, man. As a pianist, I should’ve known to take things slow, buy I also have a habit of rushing these things, so I was getting pretty discouraged. I really appreciate your advice!
Hello, thanks for the guide: I've tried random block confirming from 5M and I can't do it. Is it more of a hit confirm on ppl walking forward with a buffered special or do you actually hit confirm it off "random" hits?
I'm still struggling with H mist finer into jH crescent moon. I've tried both traditional and simple inputs and it still doesn't work. When I press U after H mist finer then I try to do the jH crescent moon I end up do the H rapid slash instead. Can you give me some tips on how to do it? Thanks. I'm using a leverless controller btw
I'm using a snackbox micro and its the default controls. So on a 8 button device it is just L M Special Throw U H Block Dash If you are trying to do the same on layout on keyboard you can use ASD for left, down, right. space for up. Then for the buttons above you can do: U I O P J K L : Pretty similar layout to my snack box.
ok I see interesting. I am using a custom hitbox, but with larger 8 buttons. L M H U Special Block And my pinky is kinda bad hitting that U button lol, maybe I'll switch to smaller 8 buttons hitting that U lol @@SemiQuest
LMUH are all together on the left then special and the other three buttons are grouped together on the right. Idk feels fine for me just because I'm used GGST and UNI but anything works as long as it is comfy.
@@SemiQuest sorry for pestering about this but is that like an artist or a game? nothing concrete really comes up when i google it, since its a pretty common word. i especially really like the music you used in the super beginner section
Ye mb. Honestly I don't like it either but I just originally made the vid to send to some friends. Didn't expect the support and views that it has gotten. Fr I thought I would only get maybe 20 views with some people from the discord viewing the vid.
This video is super useful ! Thank you very much !❤ But as a super beginner I can’t replicate even the easy combo 🥲 it’s like I press the same buttons but it doesn’t do the same moves 😭

That's true. I didn't mention air moves that much because new players jump way too much, but I'll have to admit it's a pretty good tool to use.
"We'll start with mist finer"
I really want to play her but I can't even get the SSBA combo in training mode
Just do what you can and adjust your combos for your skill level. Don't worry about the hard stuff yet!

Isn't your med DP still invincible? Why not just use that?
so you say, that its possible to hit confirm 5M? i need to try that. or do you mean hit confirming the 5M, Slash?
Yes, it's one of your key hit confirms.
Hello, thanks for the guide: I've tried random block confirming from 5M and I can't do it. Is it more of a hit confirm on ppl walking forward with a buffered special or do you actually hit confirm it off "random" hits?
Random hits, but also some situations you can kinda know it hits and just buffer. Just practice in and out of matches

personally, after H mist, I hold up+back to do crescent moon, as it puts you forward anyway
