I absolutely cannot stand the ridiculous screaming of adolescent girls during this heart wrenching performance. These people do not deserve to be watching Matt pour his soul out into this song.
I know I’m 3 years late, but fans should know that this song is really personal to him. They need to show more respect to Matty when he’s playing this live
it bothers me way too fucking much how when matty took a swig of alcohol everyone started cheering. they think of him as some sort of sexual figure, rather than a dedicated, inspiring role model.
At my concert, Matty asked everyone to be quiet during this song, and this stupid fucking group of girls next to me wouldn't shut up. They weren't even talking about the concert, they were yelling to each other about some boy at their school. Matty and half the audience were in tears and these girls were acting like they didn't even want to be there, it was so disrespectful. Makes me sick.
Mirada Senior Well when they started playing 'Medicine' next, one of the girls said ridiculously loudly, 'I don't even really like this song!' and I was so pissed off at this point I just turned and screamed at her, 'Then why the FUCK are you here?!' and then all these people were like, 'Just get the fuck out!' and they looked like really shocked and arrogant but left to the back.
honestly I was going to go buy tickets for when they come to nz but fans like this make me not want to because I will like get kicked out of screaming my head off at ignorant people like that
Erin.Pover When I finally yelled at those girls, so many people jumped on board and started telling them to fuck off too. Honestly, despite that, it was the best concert I've been too. Go if you have the chance :)
mbake sarr i think matty wrote that in one of the songs in iliys because he remembered back to all those times he broke down in concerts during self-titled concerts
Why do people go to gigs to talk! My biggest bug bear. You have an artist pouring his heart out and all you can hear is people nattering, proper disrespectful
Those fan girls need to understand when it's okay to scream & shout and when it is clearly not. This is an emotinal song that Matty has poured his heart and soul into.Ugh, I am so glad I wasn't there as I probably would've cut someone. I just hope Matty is okay. x
He is singing this deep, emotional song... it gets so deep that he starts crying, and the people can't even pay him respect? He takes a sip of alcohol and they scream so loud that he has to shush them? God people, get some heart. I hate all of the comments saying "Dumb american white girls" because they aren't the only problem.. it's everybody. Christ, some fans they are. Can't even show any respect to the CRYING musician that has the guts to even sing about things so touchy in his life. They are lucky he even came out and sang for them at his state. He tries so hard to play and stays so strong and gets that disrespect in return? How annoying.. let him live. This is disgusting. I love you Matty. You should have the most respect in the world. These fans are horrible. Nobody deserves this. I'm glad he has the guts to tour again after something so horrible. I hope he's okay.
I hate how everyone thinks that most of the audience are teenage girls that just care about how he looks and just screams at him and just wants pictures and doesn't listen to the lyrics because That's not true yes I am a teenage girl I don't do drugs and yes I know they aren't the best role models but the music they created is absolutely amazing and they have such an excellent vibe so no their fans aren't just teenage girls that take drugs and complain about problems they have some of us do actually care about all the members and not just matty
well never been to a show, 27 yo male, as a musician got hella respect for him break ing down like that, knowing what this song is about lyrically sometimes I cry when I listen cause I think of being the older brother losing our father way too early and wanting to let my baby bro know I love him and apologize for leaving him and my ma when I did from a mental perspective
Don't take it personally when someone calls out the disrespectful/annoying fans, love. Of course not all the fans are like that, but there are certain moments in a concert where it's just not proper to scream at the top of your lungs. I'm sure Matty has gotten used to it but sometimes people just need to listen.
it is excruciating to see someone you love and who matters so much to you vulnerable...Matty..we love you...I know that the probability of you reading this message and all of the other beautiful messages of your supporters and people who love you is quite low...but i just want to tell you that the 1975 has always been my inspiration and also the reason why i feel so alive today..the band's music the band's art the band's masterpiece made me feel emotions that i have never felt. It is axiomatic that 1975 made myriads of people happy and i hope we make you happy too.
Fangirls have to stop yelling and just feel the music, it's frustrating. I hope Matt's okay now, his music it's inspiratinh for me, i hope he knows how he changed peoples lifes.
this is probably the reason why he doesn't perform this song anymore, so incredibly disrespectful, during my show in Amsterdam, April 1st 2016, he asked everybody to put their phones away during "Me", and guess what? everybody did. I'm so glad i was with such a respectful audience that was quiet during "Me" or quietly singing along. Matty was very emotional during the show but he did so fucking amazing, and i think that a good crowd also was a part of that.
+lovelylouise I was there too...we got such an amazing audience. I think that if this would've happened at our show everyone had been respectful. We are very lucky with someone as Matty in this world but he needs to walk away from the big weight on his shoulder.
lovelylouise Me too...I'd be sad if they would have a break but at least he would get the time and energy to fix his health. It is so sad because in a lot of interviews he says that they barely sleep....and that with his drinking going on. I respect him though, he continues for us. And next to that he always and I mean ALWAYS is respectful to other people. Sorry had to rant x
no need to be sorry!! i completely agree with you! i have a lot of respect for him, i really do, but i just worry about him so much :( we only see a part of his drinking while he's performing and meeting people, but in the time that he's hanging out with the boys or even when he's alone or whatever i'm pretty sure he drinks and smokes a lot. not trying to tell him what to do or be annoying, but shit man :(
it hurts so much to watch this...why didn't anybody stop him/them during the show? They need a break, a LONG break that they (especially Matty) can be happy again
02:00 He is saying "I want to go home." This fucks me up. Stop playing! Your fandom will understand ( Just not these screaming girls) We love and understand you! And even if you will never read this, or other beautiful texts. Stop if you have to, play if you want to, and just stay who you are. Do what you want, do what you have to do. But please stay a Band. When you splitt. I don't want to know what will happen. We love you. I love you.
+☯head.cars.bending☯ theyd just been touring for too long and it was starting to get to them, especially matty. a few shows he was like this in dec 2014
I think they're very used to it now. 2013-2014 I think was one of their first huge tours like that and I just think that they weren't mentally ready and Matty was in a vulnerable place in his life. They all seem to be doing very well now which makes me happy.
this makes me so sad and the screaming girls should know that this song means a lot to matty and should shut the fuck up and be respectful whilst he performed it and then continued to despite how upset he was
I honestly think some of the audience members were trying to cheer him on to get through the song, but it was just not a good move. It's really not gonna help someone to hear shrill voices when they're hurting like that and when he motioned for them to be quiet they kept going??? That's what pissed me off. Stop killin the vibe
Manon Petrosino: probably thought the song was over..... he took a like several second pause,, so like you usually do at the end of a song you're hearing live, they yelled and clapped. y'all gotta stop overreacting and complaining, the people going to the concert don't go so you can have a nice calm video they're going for the experience of seeing this amazing band, go listen to the studio versions or smth idk
Que rabia me da escuchar tantos murmullos sobre todo en una canción con tanto significado, mucha gente deberia estar en el lugar de esas personas que si sabe escuchar, reflexionar y disfrutar de la música y la letra aagg

some fans are so fucking rude hes sat their choking on his tear ans all they do is scream i feel embarrassed to be put in the same category of people to them
The one thing about The 1975 that makes my blood boil is the huge portion of the fandom that just scream all the fucking time. Ruins the vibe completely.
It's been like a week and I'm in love with this band, but I just couldn't see them live. Like a lot of you on here seem really nice but the crowds I've seen and the way he talks about the gigs, I don't think I could handle that, much less being grouped together with people like that :/ I guess I will sometime because they seem amazing live, and Matty is a great frontman, but I can't see them in a big venue at least...
I wish less crazy fangirls went to these gigs. It's not a case of them being a 'boyband' and only having young crazy fans - like there are plenty of people in her their fanbase, of all ages, who can appreciate their music from an artistic and emotional perspective and not just "Matty is so hot" and just fucking screaming when he's trying to make a gig or song special... like I get it, he's attractive. Obviously. But you shouldn't be at a gig because you fancy someone or want to see them get drunk and act like a rockstar (other videos I've seen). You're there for the music, for the performance, because you love their music and you want to experience it all in real life. I recognise that not all the people at the gigs are acting disrespectfully but they're drowned out by the rest. I just hope they know there are people who would respect the performance and enjoy it for what it is - it's just we stay at home and don't attend the gigs BECAUSE of these rude, selfish people. Whenever I go to a gig of someone really popular I'm always excited, initially, then totally embarrassed by the behaviour of everyone around me. People yelling sexual things at the singer, attacking me and my friends (my friend has scoliosis and at a Gerard way gig a girl ouched her in the back and she had to be pulled out), shoving, trying too hard to get to the front so everyone is suffocating, just screaming when I;m trying to hear. I get it, you're like 15 and you are excited/crushing on a band. We were all like that once, I get that you'll grow out of it. But - against popular belief - being a hormonal teenage girl is not an excuse to ruin a show for everyone else or be a stalker or whatever. Like do that with 1D if you want, it's what they were manufactured for; to be the harmless clean-cut boyband for young girls to fawn over. Don't do that with bands like this who made their own and just want to play and make it so you have a good time.
Wait...isn't this the same concert in which he stopped and apologized to a fan? I read her story, it is beautiful... And if this is the same concert, I'll take a wild guess and say he cried because he is very empathetic with the girl and really felt her pain... Along with other reasons.
@@AubrieLynnx18 if I'm right I think it was the gig where a girl was holding up a sign about her mum dying and matty said he was sorry and then kept asking her if she was okay
