- Jumpstart Math for 2nd Graders Full Walkthrough
Jumpstart Math for 2nd Graders, originally known as JumpStart 2nd Grade Math is a subject-based JumpStart game released by Knowledge Adventure in 1997 that focuses on 2nd grade math skills.
In 1999, JumpStart Math for Kindergartners and its first grade and second grade counterparts were packaged and sold together as the JumpStart Math Mastery bundle.
I got stoned out of my mind and remembered this game. I've been looking for it ever since. Finally found out it was real.
SAME.
boo
ims toned skarn
same lol
Randy Powers 😂
Thank you so much for uploading this, I think I'm about to cry with nostalgia :)
+Christopher Allen no problem!
I loved playing this game when I was in 2nd Grade, I could play it again! Jumpstart is truly one of the best educational software ever!
Thank you so much for this! It was my favorite game as a child, and I look forward to watching this video tonight. This screams of happy nostalgia.
@thanomyloans2585 A frog and dragonfly trying to save the royal family trapped inside a large mirror from an evil rat and his companions.
Oh my God. I have no words when I found this just with Google. I'm turning 23 this year and yes, I have played this game with my mom back in the late 90's. Oh my... speechless
This is one of my favorite JumpStart games, I love the medieval setting and there are amusing moments here and there. Plus they did a good job having the activities represent medieval life, such as stained glass windows, catapults, and jousting (though I doubt real knights rode turtles XD). It's a good way to live the lifestyle, outside of having a medieval-themed party or going to a renaissance fair of course.
Other favorites...well, all the ones that take place inside a classroom (preschool, kindergarten, 1st grade, and the first 2nd grade one) because they're good ways to relive those moments of your childhood. Especially since you can't actually go to the classes for real, meaning there are only two other methods: throw a party themed to the grade you want to relive, or sign up as a volunteer at your local elementary school (hopefully the one you used to go to). Actually the second one isn't a bad idea...considering doing that myself in fact.
I also like the first 4th grade one because it's cool that you get to be the hero of your class and save them from an evil witch (plus I love that they were creative with the monsters the kids are turned into, rather than sticking with generic monsters). And the 5th grade one, that one is actually a nostalgic one for me because it's one of the only few I ever played (I also played the Typing and 1st grade treasure hunt ones, other favorites of mine) and mystery is one of my favorite genres (alongside comedy). Oh, 3rd grade is cool too, I like the historical facts and Botley is one of my favorite JumpStart characters.
I also like the 'Math for' ones, at least Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade (obviously). I love the birthday party theme of the kindergarten one, and I like befriending the bugs in the 1st grade one. I also like Reading for 1st Grade due to the circus theme, and Reading for 2nd Grade because of the Indiana Jones-styled adventure you go on.
Oh! The nostalgia! I loved this game when I was a kid! NGL though, was getting super frustrated with your gameplay at 30:00 and 45:40ish with the gem thing.
But then I remembered how hard this game was for me as a kid, and I got over it.
Great play-through!
Songs:
3:57 The Time Song
5:43 The Chance Song
10:57 The Division Song
15:07 The Estimate Song
20:08 The 2D 3D Song
Very useful to ward off Buzzo (Ratso's 2nd in command) who is patrolling the 1st floor corridor to challenge CJ to a jousting challenge for bravery points
Daaaang so many memories flooding in, I thought I've completely forgotten how this game goes. The songs, the forging room, the stained glass room, the B A N Q U E T H A L L. Everything refreshes back in. Even down to their dialogues.
@thanomyloans2585 CJ & Edison met up with a princess whose family is trapped inside a mirror. They had to do math problems like fractions and stuff & each round frees one family member. We win when the two frees all the family members & thwart the rat king that took over their kingdom.
Okay, so confession time. This game gave me anxiety. Not only was I a dyslexic and bad at math, but this anxious-looking frog was constantly staring at me expecting I'd produce some miraculous answer. All the while, we routinely got ambushed by scary rats in silent, eerie hallways asking me MORE math problems I didn't know the answer to, and if I got them WRONG I was CAST INTO A FREAKIN DUNGEON where I had to answer MORE MATH PROBLEMS just so I could survive!! I'm embarrassed to say that I'm 24 years old now and realized I never had the courage to open the throne room door and face off against Ratso, which is the real reason I'm watching this walkthrough as an adult. Had no idea it was a stupid tic tac toe game. My 2nd grader mind had literally conjured the worst possible scenario and I freakin' stressed about it whenever I played this game.
Okay thank you because I was looking through the comments like, “… so I’m the only one that was uncomfortable the whole time?”
So much nostalgia on this one! I was in deep search of this game and resorted to reddit and it didn't disappoint! Now I am downloading this for my son😇
I recently realized a bit of brilliance: they don't explain where Ratso came from in the game, but if you play the equality song (about the squires and the pie) you'll see that Ratso was one of the squires, and a very greedy one at that. It's likely that he signed up as a squire because he wanted a high-ranking position like a knight, but he got too impatient and greedy to finish his training and so decided to learn some black magic and take over the kingdom instead.
@thanomyloans2585 using 2nd grade mathematics to free the princess' family and friends that were trapped in the mirror by an evil rat and his goons and also reclaiming the kingdom from their control
An excellent theroy!
Ratso sounds like Blitz
That banquet hall level is so nostalgic...
THATS THE ONLY PART I REMEMBER
@@chin5983 SAME
Who misses these type of games, humongous entertainment games, they need to bring them back into this generation
and include a print out diploma (when the player returns to his completed save file he or she may replay tic tac toe final challenge to re-watch the ending)
the word goblet is forever burned into my mind and reminds me of that food game.
i didnt even remember anything else about the game, just fascination the different shapes and colours of the plates gave me, as well as the word goblet.
such a tasty nostalgia
That's so funny, exactly the same. I can't hear the word goblet without thinking of that game...to this day. The food/shapes/colors, and the sounds they made when played...stuck with me. I'm 32 years old now in 2023, I must have played this in...1998 maybe? Wild
I am having such a nostalgia high right now. Thank you, Lingyan!
I remember playing this 19 years ago. How time flies!
One day, I want to get an old computer than can run these games and play through the entire Jumpstart series, just to see how many times I get tripped up on what they throw at me as an adult.
I remember this game, but I never remembered the title. Thanks for uploading!
Brought back a bunch of memories . I'm 27 on the bus to work smiling like a kid on Christmas
@thanomyloans2585 it's an educational game from the 90s and early 2000s . Match science English
My favorite Jumpstart game. I miss it.
I blame this game for my math frustrations... “are you sure you want to use THAT mold!?” *shakes head* yes!?
I’ve been looking for this for years!!!
Thank you so much, I was looking for this for ages! I remember I loved these games, especially the one at 22:00 XD Always made me hungry
This game was so awesome, I'm so happy to have found this once again 🤗🤗😃😃
They make any of these games for Linear Algebra in college?
36:30 omg that nostalgic music
I really love this one and it has the clock 🕒 time that can take you backwards and forwards even onto the different times.
Man, I hated having to go in that freaking dungeon.
Same with myself
I rather have all the math traps to be the Time Guards (No Dungeon)
1:32 still able to predict that cough after many years XD
Thanks so much for this! I used to play the catapult a lot during my childhood. So much nostalgia! ;u;
This game was so fun. There needs to be an adult remake of this lol
I'm not surprised I never beat this game. It takes FOREVER to save one person!
I wish they brought the princess back for future games, especially since it's more than hinted that CJ and the princess became really good friends.
0:23 KA Bookworm: This is JumpStart Math For Second Graders! You know. 123s, that kind of thing! Now, the hosts of our game, CJ and Edison!
Was this re-dubbed? Because the English version i remember has both CJ and the Princess with adult voices
I wish I could find this game, it's one of my favorites
Damn the nostalgia as someome who was born in the the late 90s and plans to become an Elementary School Teacher.
I was so frustrated when you did the glass windows. So many different ways you could make it in a cool colour combination and you just chose the colour that was next to it or similar, and the window became so boring, gah! XD
This game is like my entire childhood 😭😭
Good old days!
This game spooked me out for some reason

TELL ME MORE OR LESS!!!
BOY WHAT A MESS!
Wow this is so freaking dated.
Still very nostalgic.
My WHOLE childhood in one video🤗
I played this game in Swedish many times as a kid (because I live in Sweden). I also remember Duke Ratso sounding more menacing in the Swedish version. I'm not trying to offend anyone, but once I heard his voice in this version, I kind of bursted into laughter, while in Swedish, it's as if his voice actor orgasmed on every word he said.
Jag kan fortfarande höra hans röst, HAHA
Hi
Same
1:28:00 That rat knight armor used to give me nightmares as a kid
The woman singer on many of the songs in this game―sounds a lot like the same singer who sung the theme song for Dragon Tales? The music composition sounds like it's in the same style as the theme as well.
Way to help Sir C. J. save the royal family in this game, Sir Lingyan! Thou art awesome! :D
Make that double awesome
I love JUMPSTART but I was so scared of this one before BAHAHHAA
weeks, months, years, decades, and CENTURIES! man there were so many bops on this game. does anyone know where to find it online?
The moment you realize Ratso is actually Escargoon from the Kirby show.
He really sounds very similar.
23:42 “I want cake.”
Me too, buddy. Me too.
That ending with Ratso at 2x speed, worth it :P
What happens if you lose in tic-tac-toe?
ok here's a thought provoking question for you how do you suppose ratso got into the castle? was he already a royal subject who went rogue or did he invade and we just didn't see that though she does refer to ratso as though she already knows him
I remember that there is a mouse hole inside the hallway on the 1st floor next to the great hall entrance and under the musical tapestry (for 4 squires)
It's been more than 10 years, and I still remember the cough at 1:38
This was probably my most memorable jumpstart game... I had so much fun with it, but I got a bit scared of the rats lol. I also remembered having a crush on the narrator girl back in the day...
Oh my god. I always play this game when I was a kid. This game brings so much memories 🥹
I haven't played this since elementary school in the early 2000s
12:30 Why I spent as little time as possible on the first floor. The joust interruptions were the only problem I found with the game.
Is there a way to play this game on a newer computer??
2:50:49
Jumpstart 2nd Grade Math-Well Ratso I Know how much you hate loose ends, so you'll be glad to know this wraps up the command over the castle. I guess that puts an end to your challenges, Not to mention taking over the kingdom!
Carmen Sandiego Math Detective-Well Carmen I Know how much you hate loose ends, so you'll be glad to know this wraps up our old Prometheus Case. I guess that puts an end to your plans, not to mention VILE Central!
is it sad that i still know all the words to the songs?
this stressed the hell out of me but I liked the graphics
My favorite.
44:04 When we see that mouse/rat in the throne, that picture of cheese seems quickly like The Lion King poster when Simba looks forwards to heaven 😆 Maybe not when you watch straight ahead to that cheese but if you watch somewhere else it reminds me of it somehow 😅
can you still get this game? anywhere?
Incredible job on this computer game fellas!!🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
8:08 That mold?
In the final tic-tac-toe challenge, what happens if
1) C.J. loses to Ratso?
2) all spaces are filled but neither C.J. nor Ratso has three of their shields in a line?
None of those options are possible. The game is programmed so that whenever Ratso is one space away from winning the game, he will automatically make incorrect answers until the player wins the game.
I remember playing this all the time when I was in second grade.
@thanomyloans2585 You have to stop the rats from taking over the castle. I remember doing the Final Tic Tac Toe game and wondering out of curiosity what would happen if the bad guy won... but he never gave the right answer whenever I was only one space away from winning.
@thanomyloans2585 I was in second grade in the 2001-02 school year.
How do you download
I LOVE THIS!
Will you be playing Jumpstart Music?
It always gave me a jump when one of the rats would randomly jump you and throw you in the dungeons. Made me walk around the castle very scared.
I preferred this one over the reading one, it was always more difficult than this.
I don't remember the songs at all. I think I just didn't click on them as a kid. The things I remember most that sent me searching for this are the catapult game and "Zounds!"
ok but when are we getting a speedrun
4:23
They forgot Millenniums (year x1000)
I enjoyed this game but i remember i would bug my teacher to help me because some of the task where a little challenging. But she just told me to play another gay because it was to hard for me and she was anointed with having to keep helping me
7:30 Achievement
2:06 KA Bookworm: The dudette’s right! To do that, tap on the dial! Just like the one from the Bone Vault!
Rent was Due for the divide song!
my fav game
11:00 the 4 squires song
Am I the only one who was incredibly frustrated watching this? (Nostalgia aside) like the person playing this spent an hour and a half wandering around aimlessly not realising the characters were trying to direct him to particular places, they couldn’t seem to figure out what a forge was, and just completely gave up on trying to make a digital clock read 5:40 (« twenty to six ») 😆 I would’ve thought it was actually a second grader playing if it weren’t for the speedy work on other portions, like measuring the metals
my brother love it
21:48
1:55 🚀
Floyd what news we recapture the wartmongers
1:07:04
"Oh dear! What is this? I didn't order this! Wait-"
Yes you did! It's a *LEG* of lamb! Why are *YOU* complaining when the *RAT ON THE FAR RIGHT* should because he didn't get his *RECTANGULAR* plate?
Good morning
I loved this game. Treasure mountain, treasure cove, spy fox, nanosaur, national geographic 3D virtual dinosaur museum. All great games horror pinball
Am I the only one who thinks Ratso sounds like Paul Lynde
Shymiera Entwisle You’re not the only one.
Or John Stephenson doing his Paul Lynde imitation voice.
It tickles me that the final showdown with Ratso is a game of Hollywood Squares, the game show where Paul Lynde always sat in the middle square. I'm sure that can't be just a coincidence.
Now I do its so fun to wach
35:17 Jousting
I have to wonder the age and cognitive ability of the person that created this video
Can't believe that more people didn't notice..
Who else had a crush on the princess? >.>
Nice can you play this on a new computer
