Yilin is such a typical Chinese girl: modest, low profiled and kind. Yilin doesn't know where her beauty is, which makes her more attractive. I've watched many interviews about her and she just didn't talk that much. I'm a big fan of gymnastics, but I don't really care which colour of the medal she got here. Other gymnasts who attended this olympic games performed excellently as well. Their work cannot be judged only by a medal. They deserve much more as respect, encouragement and understanding.

Russia was trying to adapt to the new scoring system still at this point. Semenova was in tears at bars finals because her routine was tops in 2007 and not so much in 2008..just very hard for her.
yes exactly! shawn was lucky not to get her 2.5 twisting yurchenko downgraded to a DTY... the judges could've turned around and say she wasn't completely around. Natia jsut had glue on her feet that night, every single landing nailed except for her bars dismount. As for floor event finals, sandra has better leaps than shawn and triple spin. Dance important in gymnastics, not just tumbling, otherwise go and watch trampoline or something. If you don't see all this, you do not appreciate gymnastics

I really wanted Johnson and Yilin to go 1, 2 in the AA. But I think despite some scoring controversy; based on performances the appropriate medals were awarded. Liukin was just on target that night. I also wanted Yilin to take the UB gold as consolation for the AA, but oh well. History won't be rewritten because of my opinion.

But agree that was rush judging, specially if you consider Shawn's score on vault...
I think her and Yilin were a bit harshly judged on Vt, while Yuyuan's lack of hight and distance should have been much more deducted (on top of the fall) and Shawn's amanar shouldn't have been credited. Guessing possible deductions for Liukin: -Slight piking on the first part of the second phase (just after pushing on the table) -lack of distance -legs crossed -longitudinal rotation a bit too uncompleted when landing. -out of the axe, she lands near the line. It was a beautiful vault.

He Kexin was perfectly known by the judges and the clear favourite (and to my taste, the best) for almost everybody. But, you're right she didn't deserved the gold, Yang had better execution that day. But I somehow agree with it, because Kexin's routine is much more interesting than either Yang or Liukin's. But for the AA the winner is always someone better known than Yang. YYL was astounding on AA and deserved the gold as well as Nastia. The judging could have balanced the results either way.

She was impressive from start to end. the problem is that she just wasn't as known by the judges as NAstia. Either of the two could have come out with the gold.
Oh yeah, I was also mad that Cheng Fei took the bronze on beam instead of Anna Palova, Anna deserves the bronze not some very bad form Chinese (no offense, I am Chinese, but I can really tell that Anna's routine was better enough that she would have beatten Cheng Fei.) I also felt bad for Samatha and Chellise, they were so happy to be at the Olympics, but it was cut short because of injury and can only compete on bars in the team competition. Fate is really curel to gymnastics at 2008 Olympics.

This NBC footage team crew was on crack...where was Anna Pavlova? She qualified in the top group of 6 (the group that NBC always had their cameras on) and she placed fourth at the last Olympics (robbed). I know she is not in this montage because she placed 7th (1 spot out of the top 6 which were shown here) but NBC was even showing Shawn and Nastia giving death stares to each other during Pavlova's beam routine (third highest beam score in the AA behind Nastia and Shawn of 15.975)
I am very disappointed in the 2008 Olympics. The USA didn't win the team gold, Nastia won the all-around even though Shawn Johnson deserves (the judges gave her too low scores on bars and vault, even though they looked better then they were scored), the Romanions beat the Russains and Sandra wining floor instead of Shawn Johnson. I didn't care that Nastia didn't win bars and beam, thats for her taking the all-around title that should belong to Shawn Johson! I deserve to say my own opinnion!
