      Basically that's the equivalent of Newcastle and Brighton & Hove Albion being a "derby".

    Lower-league soccer is my JAM! Brooklyn FC is starting play here in NYC soon (their women's team this year, then their men's team is debuting in the 2025 Championship season), and there are lots of lower-league sides around New York that I'd love to check out if I had the chance (especially any repping my borough of Manhattan).
    EDIT 1: As an NYC FC fan, I know all about having to make do with a baseball stadium while your shiny new stadium is still being built...
    EDIT 2: "Talking STUFF to the opposing goalie..." Goddamn, the Midwest can be so endearing.
    EDIT 3: I work at a dinosaur theme park in NJ and it's fun to try and keep track of how many different soccer team jerseys I've seen people wear. By a country mile, Messi, primarily his Inter Miami or Barcelona kits, takes the cake. Ronaldo, unsurprisingly, isn't far behind.

      I'm really falling in love with lower league soccer in America. It's so freaking endearing. You'll see another example when I post my Tulsa/Orange County vlog tonight.
      RE Edit 1: Yeah, that is less than ideal for sure
      RE Edit 2: Leave it to the kids to be vulgar and the grown-ups to be civil! (though that was NOT the case in Tulsa Friday night...)
      RE Edit 3: I work at a hospital and I've seen so many different soccer jerseys, whether it's Messi jerseys or hispanic patients wearing Mexican/South American kits. I did see a Ronaldo at Tulsa as well, but I saw like 4 Messis lol

      Well, there's a saying a lot of us in STL have: love the club, hate the league.
      If you're ever in town, PLEASE let me know!

    Great video, I’m from Omaha and it’s great to see 2nd, 3rd and 4th level teams getting recognition!
    Just a quick thing about Omaha: Werner Park is sort of the “Any outdoor event” stadium, right now it has Union Omaha, Omaha Storm Chasers, just about every High School Baseball Tournament, etc:

      I have a feeling once the new Union Omaha stadium opens, there will be a new "any outdoor event" stadium for non-baseball stuff!

      I have a feeling their new stadium might challenge Louisville's when it's done.

  • @topshelfbeas
    @topshelfbeas 3 місяці тому +5

    I'm glad they are getting their own SSS in the future, I'm glad that other usl teams are also. A trend I'm starting to notice is that within the new teams that are joining usl-C and usl1, sometimes even in usl 2, that they are all mostly building SSS' before they enter the league, which i think we will see a lot more of within the teams that don't have one yet, or it might become inforced from usl

    • @SoccerZombieSTL
      @SoccerZombieSTL  3 місяці тому +2

      I think part of it is league requirements, but also to "do it right" out of the gate. For instance, Fort Wayne FC wants to move up to USL1 from USL2, but they're trying to get a stadium first.

      @@SoccerZombieSTL yeah I’ve heard about that, also maybe an away day for the future, but I’ve been hearing great things going on in Maine and their future usl1 team, already sold out 63% of their season tickets

      Yes! Portland Hearts of Pine are doing real well, which doesn't surprise me given that region is both soccer-crazy as Vermont Green have proven. Not a lot of professional sports options in that region, so lots of opportunity to grow the game.

      @@SoccerZombieSTLWell Frankfurt games are boring most of the time... 😂
      I am following american soccer since 1996... mostly the MLS.
      It is impressive, to see the development of the game on and off the field in the US.

    • @SoccerZombieSTL
      @SoccerZombieSTL  3 місяці тому +2

      Yes, American soccer has come a LONG way since 1996. Oddly enough I didn't even get into MLS until my hometown St. Louis got a club. But in the last decade, the lower leagues have really taken off and there's more clubs being added every year at many levels. It's still a bit like the Wild West the lower you go, but USL seem to have the 2nd and 3rd tiers pretty well organized.
