This visualization demonstrates and compares Slavic countries by GDP per capita in 2023 dollars, allowing for more accurate comparisons due to the stable dollar value. The global average GDP per capita is also provided for analysis. The data visualization spans from December 1960 to January 2024. The Slavic countries included are:

This cant be right .. In 2008 you have more nominal GDP than in 2024 but the same time you show less PPP in 2008 even with lower prices in 2008? How?
@@avitalshevaData has been adjusted for inflation, so prices from 2008 should also be corrected to 2023 levels. If you have these prices, multiply them by 1.43 and take a fresh look at the overall picture. Please give a countdown; I'm interested in the results.

Of just an a example we take Slovakia and GDP per capita, then you have fluctuation and peaks in certain years as 2008 , 2014 when GDP per capita was higher than even today! (?) But if so then with lower prices in 2008 and 2014 ( and there were definitely lower prices then as today) so you must have higher PPP. . By definition. But you dont in your video Or there is one other possible explanation and it is that in that times the Salaries were much lower in comparison to GDP per capita -- which mean that workers were much more exploited than today and much more profit were left to businesses
@@avitalsheva In this video, GDP is adjusted for inflation so that the unit of measurement consistently reflects 2023 values. This approach is important because using actual values from sources without adjustment would be inaccurate; the value of a 2023 dollar differs from that of a 2008 dollar. For instance, in 2008, you could buy 43% more with the same amount of money than in 2023. Additionally, if you have a factory that produces a consistent quantity of goods, its revenue would increase by 43% from 2008 to 2023 solely due to dollar depreciation, even though the actual amount of goods produced remains the same. By adjusting for inflation, this lack of real growth becomes evident. However, to fully understand the situation, it's crucial to adjust all figures, including wages, to provide a complete picture.

Same... russian people have had it rough. When its not vikings, mongols or ottomana they have their own leaders who oppress them and such centuries long oppression leaves mark on the people. Always when it looked like russian people wil finally get a chance to build a prosperous and civil society some catastrophe happens and they are stuck in mud for decades or even centuries to come.
It pains me that they we (the west) and russia are enemies. I wish we were better friends and prospered together in peace and harmony, but unfortunately I dont see it happening.
As long as russians hold their imperialistic views its not possible. Some might hate the US or Anglosphere but the americans or british never invaded or occupied us, contrary to russia.
I hope there will be more unity amongst Slavs in the future.

This can be compared,former communist Slovenia and Russia. V Rusku to bolo približne 33 946 medzinárodných dolárov na obyvateľa. Tento rozdiel ukazuje, že kúpna sila priemerného občana Slovinska bola vyššia ako priemerného občana Ruska v roku 2023. A teraz si ešte raz predstav žeby Slovinsko malo 144 milióna obyvateľov ako ďaleko by bolo v celkovom hdp pred Rusko. 😊

I live in Ljubljana Slovenia and I can tell you it is not a great place to live. I would much prefer to live in Bratislava and work in Vienna. I worked in Vienna as an IT engineer and I was rich there. Working as an IT engineer is terrible here in Slovenia - we earn less than waiters.

El GDP per capita por si sólo no indica nada. Debe ser comparado con un conjunto de indicadores como el costo de vida, el costo de alimentación, el índice de Gini, el PBI con valor agregado y sin Valor agregado, y la carga impositiva de cada país.

In the beginning they consisted of various nationalities, but over time they were almost completely dominated by the Ruthenian ethos. At that time they actually became a military class, but they had ambitions to become something more. In the 17th century, defending the lands they colonized against Turkic peoples and the Muscovites, they incurred huge costs, which benefited Ruthenia (Ukraine). At the same time, they had no nobility rights, so their land began to be taken over by the Rus nobility. This led to numerous Ukrainian-Cossack wars (I know that historical propaganda in Russia and Ukraine portrays this as Ukrainian-Polish conflicts, but this is untrue).
In the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, two nations of nobility were distinguished ( peasants and bourgeoisie were not recognized as part of the nation): Poles (Poles and Ruthenians, or Ukrainians), and Lithuanians (Lithuanians and Belorussians). Therefore, the Cossacks demanded that they be recognized as a third nation, which would be given the rights of nobility, and thus no one would have the right to claim their lands, and the Crown (the State) would have to pay them for their war services, because then their wars would not be the defense of their own homes, but the defense of the entire state, and for this they already deserve money from the State.
The Ruthenians long blocked the Cossacks' right to their own national identity, but this did not prevent the Cossacks from recognizing themselves as a separate nation. Eventually the Polish-Lithuanian state recognized the Cossacks as a third nation at the end of its existence. After the destruction of the Republic, the Cossacks were largely exterminated by Catherine the Great, and the remaining Cossacks were divided into several groups: Zaporozhian Cossacks, Donskoy Cossacks, Kuban Cossacks, Tersk Cossacks, Astrakhan Cossacks, Ural Cossacks, Transylvanian Cossacks, Orenburg Cossacks, Siberian Cossacks, Zabaikal Cossacks, Amur Cossacks, Ussuri Cossacks, Busk Cossacks, Lesser Russian Cossacks, Black Sea Cossacks and Azov Cossacks.
With the beginning of the birth of Ukrainian nationalism, some Cossacks recognized themselves as Ukrainians, others, as Russians, and still others retained their separate national identity. Both Russia and Ukraine are currently fighting the Cossack national identity.

Poland may look like being 4th but it has great momentum, in a few years, they can easily be in the lead. (In case of Romania, it's even more dynamic, but Romania isn't included here of course.) We, Czechs, are unfortunately a bit stagnant; we're resting on our laurels.
The nominal difference (which in todays globalised economy and world matters more) between Czechia and Poland is still quite huge, maybe it we stagnate for another 5 years then Poland might reach us. But 22 and 30,5 is not something that you do in 2 or 3 years. Also Czechia this and next year has already average/above average growth again. Poland has much larger % budget deficit and the EU started a trial with it and 8 others because of it. The debt there also rises faster than in CZ and inflation is still a bit higher in Poland. Also Poland has worse birth rates for a long time and higher emmigration. It grows quickly but there are still many things that it does worse than CZ.
@@Aggoenix as a Pole i mostly agree with you sir. Poland certainly has some unsolved problems and it will be difficult to maintain current level of growth in the future.
But one thing. I think you should compared us by PPP (numbers on the right side) rather than GDP per capita, as it is adjusted for purchasing power parity. Then the difference is not that big anymore - around 8%

Also keep in mind that Czechia is smaller country with high density which means you shouldn’t look at Poland as whole. As Poland is relatively big, there are parts of country that rural and disconnected from center of industry. Thus average is lowered. Czechia is more like Polish agglomerations and here your GDP is falling behind.

@@Timbiebimby In HDI Poland isnt far behind and slovenia being much smaller country has much easier job in this regard, also GDP doesnt tell the full story since Poland is a much larger country with many people living in rural areas, Cities in Poland are well developed with lot of job opportunities, GDP PPP is whats matters the most, since its representing the reality and the difference between Poland and Slovenia in PPP is marginal, you earn about 20% more on avarage but you also have 20% higher prices. Poland is basicly developed just as well as Slovenia at the moment. GDP isnt the best indicator my friend, Czech rep. has also higher GDP than Poland but they earn slightly less and have higher prices on many goods when compared to Poland.
Gdp per capita metric works great for economies with overinflated services sector but like every metric it got its flaws.

For all those who say that Bulgaria is the poorest in the EU, I would say to look at debt to GDP. Bulgaria is a frugal country with iron discipline and this indicator in Bulgaria is 20%. Anyone can take out debt and pretend to be rich!
You can truely see the impact of the EU, all EU countries have the highest GDP per capita and it raised a lot when those countries joined the EU

When it comes to per capita GDP only the PPP one is worth looking at. Nominal GDP is useless there as with per capita you are always looking for the purchasing power to measure the living standard of the country while nominal GDP is useful for measuring the whole country's power internationally. So don't sweat much over it guys as when you look at the PPP it's a really close battle.
GDP per capita is worth NOTHING. It doesn't display how wealth is divided between population. 1 % of the wealthiest own 99% of money and you are believing in some fairytales calles statistics.
Nah, PPP is quite an abstract construction, sure it helps in adjusting some daily needs prices for correct comparison. But saying that Nominal GDP per capita is useless is gross overestimation.

This video is a perfect example if you look at for example Poland vs Slovenia. I've been in both of them many many times and the standard of living is basically the same in both (as PPP here suggests as well) however nominal would think Slovenia is twice as better which is just simply not true not even close unless you are converting your whole salary into USD or something every month

Slovenia and Czechia ARE richer than Poland and got higher average salary too. 😅 Nothing fake about it. ESPECIALLY if you look median and mean wealth per adult citizen. Slovenia not only leaves the Poland in the dust on that list but is also ahead of Austria and Germany by the median wealth per adult citizen! Slovenia got more than 70 000 dollars of the median wealth per adult citizen for the 2023. Poland meanwhile got like 20 000 dollars. Really REALLY low, on that list. @@kerotomas1

Based on this, we can conclude that in Bulgaria, a country which lost 22% of its population in 15 years because people fled from there and which is known as the country with the largest population decline in the world, lives are better than in Montenegro.
Things are turning around in Bulgaria. The crisis of the 90s was caused by over-reliance on the USSR for exports in the 80s. There are more people moving TO Bulgaria now than moving out, both returning Bulgarians and immigrants from all over the world.

Mówiąc, że Rosja ma taki ogromny potencjał mam też na myśli to, że Rosja ma złoża chyba wszystkich pierwiastków świata.
Wojna ma do tego wszystkiego tyle, że Rosja się wyludnia tak jak Polska zresztą. Ludzie, którzy mogliby popychać Rosyjską gospodarkę do przodu giną bez sensu na wojnie. Rosja zamiast budować pokojowe relacje i wpływać politycznie na swoich sąsiadów to próbuje robić to siłą. Jeszcze przed wybuchem wojny Nord Stream 2 był poważnym problemem dla Polski i jej bezpieczeństwa. Myślę, że można powiedzieć, że niektórzy obawiali się zacieśniającej się współpracy Niemców z Rosją. Dwa potężne kraje, a pomiędzy nimi Polska z naszymi politykami...
Rosja przynajmniej w czasach ZSRR przodowała w nauce, więc na pewno ma potencjał intelektualny nawet dziś. No chyba, że ten potencjał ucieka z Rosji w strachu, że zostaną powołani na wojnę jako mięso armatnie, albo po prostu mają dość życia w totalitarnym systemie, gdzie kilka złych słów może Cię kosztować więzieniem.
Gdyby Rosja nie była tak agresywnym krajem, to myślę, że wasza bogata kultura mogłaby by być bardziej spopularyzowana i mieć większy wpływ na świat. Przed 2014 Rosyjska w moim mieście co roku odbywał się festiwal muzyki rosyjskiej (wcześniej się chyba nazywał festiwalem muzyki radzieckiej).
Chcę też zwrócić uwagę Rosjan, żeby może mieli większą sprawczość w stosunku do swoich oligarchów. W Polsce władza się faktycznie zmienia (pomimo, że właściwie rządzą ciągle dwie prawie takie same w swoich wynikach działań partie), a w Rosji od dziesięcioleci nie. Przez to nie ma nadziei na poprawę i właściwe wykorzystanie potencjału.
Rosja mogłaby być fajnym, normalnym i znacznie potężniejszym krajem niż jest aktualnie.

Czech republic also has its own currency, though we are more than 8000 USD richer than Poland...

If that was not co, there would not be any conflicts on whose is the particulair dish, which people make from both sides of the border in Slovenia and in Croatia. Find me a Slovene that does not have a relative be it far or narrow in Croatia or in Bosnia, Serbia. Same goes for Croats, who also have a lot of relatives in Slovenia. One really has to live isolated life, to think Slovenia does not have anything in common with other South Slavs, or be imersed in hatered of self and also very high thoughts of oneself in comparison to the most similar peoples.

Czechia and Slowakia GDP are strongly connected with car production in Germany. Croactian is dependening of turist volumes (prices are terrible comparing last years, definitely not for slavic). Мы пока не планируем заводить 3го ребенка, но поддержка на уровне государства действительно очень большая для семей с 3+ детей. В этом действительно закладывается будущее наших стран. А не в стоимости планшетов и автомобилей...

The largest mafias were locked up in prisons in 1997-2001. Unfortunately, in Ukraine, corruption and mafia (including in the judiciary) are doing great to this day.

You do not mention those people who leave these countries en masse in search of normality and those retirees who do not have money to pay for their basic needs. Russia is, of course, much richer than Ukraine or Belarus, because it has raw materials and agriculture. But even this relatively rich Russia, in terms of income per capita, is poorer than Poland, Slovakia or the Czech Republic. However, I am fully aware that the West is now heading towards dictatorship and censorship, but for now we still have a lot of freedom. @@MartinFoxTheOnly there is many parameters like in medical report. You cant have real picture by looking only at one of them, i never been in Albania and cant say. Maybe Albanian man can really have better life than Estonian but you personnaly may come there and face some non-exonomical problems.
Anyway GDP is poor parameter to measure and as we can see conclusions drawn on the basis of GDP calculation method did not work in practice, such as sanctions against Russia, the effect of which many predicted based on GDP, in reality had almost no effect

I live in Poland and I can tell you that people here are much more rich and the country is much more developed compared to Slovenia, Czech and Slovakia. And Im originally from Italy
So why they have lower/similar wages and lower HDI (development) when they are so much richer and developed? Brother average Pole is definitely not richer than average Slovenian. He might be on 90% of Czechia, but even there he is a slightly behind still. Why median wealth per capita or median household income of Poland is lower than CZ and SL by official state statistics? Poland is somewhere around the level of Hungary, Greece and Slovakia. Its true its growing quickly but to portrait it richer and more developed than CZ and SL is ridiculous. Have you even been in Slovenia longer than crossing to Croatia for vacations? 😂
@@Aggoenixanswer is very simple - Slovenia is a small country with everyone living is close proximity and Poland is a lot bigger. So you have rural eastern Poland and you have wealthy main cities. And you look at some average Poles does not exist.
There is more ppl living in Polish main cities than in Slovenia. And they generate more GDP there than in Slovenia. That is why that Italian guy have different perspective.

But my point stands, the completely average middle class guy in Slovenia is far wealthier than the same average in Poland thats all. Also Slovenia is extremely equal. 2013-й санкции и новая фишка в "гениальной" экономической политике Путина, "дешевом рубле", который конечно же так выгоден России (её чиновникам). В итоге страна, обогнавшая Польшу и Хорватию по ВВП на д.н полетела вниз рейтинга, но зато по паритету покупательской способности не рухнула и всё прекрасно: холопы по прежнему могут платить за квартиры и хлеб, а всякая там электроника и компьютерная техника, автомобили им не особо и нужны. Не жили хорошо, нечего и начинать.
