Your video was very helpful Ty. My cyclone motor was leaking oil, Disassembling this thing was fun. I had a few loose motor bolts so oil was leaking… Tightened them up and stopped t leaking ! Ty 😆 👍🏻
I replaced the impeller on my Cyclone rake couple years ago i used a Commercial 5 blade orange hi flow miracle impeller. my housing was in great shape the frame and housing not needed. the impeller was hard to get in for a 5 blade but it went in. the impellers last several years before they develop problems mine is seasonally used for fall cleanup. mine was from around 2000 so the impeller was due for replacement. as the machine originally had an underpowered 5 hp Tecumseh on it its been repowered by a Predator 212cc engine needed the muffler modified and a shaft adapter for the impeller as i used the antiseize on the new impeller and shaft adapter and the shaft bolt. been using the predator engine for years now no problems.
Where did you get the shaft adapter? I am about to do the predator swap too. My Tecumseh was from 2000 also and quit on me a few weeks ago. My impeller looks good but maybe a 5 blade would be an improvement.
I replaced mine with the 5 blade and it makes a big difference I've had mine since 2003 and not had any problems with it it's the best investment I have ever made@@maxjones9139
@@maxjones9139 shaft adapters can be found on amazon or other sites, just need to know both shaft sizes of course. The adapters I've used have always been too thick, so I jammed them onto a socket with a 1/4" hex socket adapter to fit in my drill. Then I ziptie the drill trigger and use sandpaper to "turn" them down until they fit. A bit time consuming, but it works well.
@@aidenfindley8565 its a 3/4" to 1" shaft adapter, I'd at least get the predator 224 or find a cheap or free engine off marketplace, could take a briggs or something off a cheap snowblower maybe, if you're handy.
You guys did a very nice job, but I have one critique. I would have cleaned the mung and grime off the engine before assembling, and you would have had a perfect job. Its not too late.;)
I've been on the fence with which brand to get CR vs. DR, the plastic impeller design on the CR has been one of the only things I don't like about it. I don't understand why they chose plastic over metal, cost? I really like the non-pivoting trailer design of the CR, far less hose wear. Decisions, Decisions.
The plastic is much better for many reasons. First of all when wet leaves and grass sit in side the housing it becomes acidic in other words it rusts out steel very easily. A steel housing will not stand up to the vibration as this plastic will. Third Plastic has much lower friction than steel in other words the cuttings of leaves and grass slide through much better. Plus it is much lighter to handle. A plastic housing will out live a steel housing when using the same thickness of material. Just look at some old mower decks it is common to see them rotted right through where the wet grass sits in them all the time.
I would've just repaired the case with plastic staplers, plastic welder, and mesh - unless they gave me a hefty discount on parts. Hope my impeller never does this though, sheesh.
@@TheGAutomotiveAndMore yeah, I've been beating it up with sticks and stuff too lol, I'll have to look. Its got the Tecumseh engine, so you know its at least 20 years old.

Also curious as to where you got the shaft adapter and what size was needed.

Good job. Torque before Loctite sets. I agree, cleaning would have just been my A+ing it. Nice video.

Great video. I have an XL model to replace just the impeller on. Thanks!
Do u know what size the bolt u used to pull it with
Sorry I do not remember.
Just changed my impeller and I believe the bolt to remove the old impeller is 1/2”. 2002 5hp Tecumseh engine.
Do you know what the part number for that kit? I need to replace mine as well. Thanks for the help!
No I do not the customer bought the kit. Thanks for watching

I have a Dr and would not recommend it unless you have a small mower

I would check the impeller for cracking and replace it before it brakes. Pick up the sticks in your yard before you use it.
