I lived in Clawson from my birth until 16. This is back in the 60s and 70s. Life was much simpler back then and the only places were the Kmart, the Big D supermarket, the thunderbird lanes. My father worked at Vickers on Crooks Rd (now some other business). We used to walk around many open fields that are now covered by mini-malls. On Friday nights in the summer we would go to the the A and W Drive In on Main street then go park the car off 15 mile road by Berz airport and watch the airplanes land and takeoff. 4th of July was always an incredible event that stretched for weeks with all the things to do. I played little league baseball, swam in the high school pool for $.25 during winter months, rode my bike with the bike club during the summer. It was a wonderful place to be a kid.
I lived in Metro Detroit for my entire life. Grew up in Berkley, spent my 20s, 30s and some 40s in Ferndale and Royal Oak as a young lad should. But I've owned my first home in Clawson for almost 8 years now and I LOVE IT. The shops, food options, people and FREEEEE PARKING. There's nothing better than running up to (any great local restaurant ) and parking right out front or in back. And the variety of shops and restaurant rivals RO and Ferndale EASILY.
Even though this post is several months old, I like the thoughtful details of the overall life of Clawson, covering every aspect of daily living. I’ve watched quite a few realtors on UA-cam, going into detail about living in Michigan, but you stand out because you impart your own personality and professionalism to each video. Thank You!
Been living in clawson since 2016. love the town and the fact that its close to a lot of fun stuff. great for a growing family. however, most of the properties are Sears built homes from the 50s, and could definitely use a teardown and rebuild. also i would love to see the town getting a fiber connection, as its just minutes away from a business district that currently has it.
Grew up at 216 Nakota St. Went to Kenwood Elementary. We moved away when I was 11. But it still has a part of my heart. And if you can believe it, my parents bought the house, at that address for, $15,000 in the early 50s and sold it for $33,000 in 1971. I believe it lass sold for $260,000 and is worth over$300,000 now. Almost unbelievable, but true.
Very informative. I'm always unsure about the areas around Detroit so these videos are nice. What are your thoughts on Brighton? I like that it's still in the relative vicinity of both Ann Arbor and Detroit.
Thank you for watching! Brighton is a great spot and where I grew up. I have several videos covering different aspects of the city. Here's a video link to one: ua-cam.com/video/v0j4JVD3V8g/v-deo.htmlsi=EZowRm3hevkCDfHl and in the description there's links to several others based on what questions you may have!

Clawson is on the upswing. Everyone loves Renshaw Lounge too
It's always so packed. I started going at off times instead
