It's beautifully sung by Shannon and the piano at the end is lovely. I like to listen to this while watching the final scene of the SERIES finale. It brings it all together.
I was about 9 when Lost started, my parents liked the show and I only watched every now and then. I'm 18 now and I've started the show on my own and honestly I am loving it so much.
The episodes of season 1 often have ended like this. Where you just see everybody on the beach doing whatever they do and have some great music with it. They stopped doing that somewhere in the middle of season 2. Shocking cliffhangers were more important^^But I always kinda missed those drama free moments, where you just could reflect what happened in the episode before! And I really love Maggies voice here
I was 14 when LOST started and I watched every episode until the very end :) Season 1 was by far the best because of these moments at the end. It's when we didn't know the characters well and we found out that they all had sorrow in their past :') I honestly don't think another show will ever match its brilliance.
It truly was a fascinating series. I think they ended it too soon. It should have been "Lock" to take over for Jacob. Lock was Jacobs true Choice. They should still make a movie with the real characters in it. That they wind up all by the "Island" still skipping like a record. That they never escaped the Island after it was moving through Time. I'm glad I have it on Blu-ray.
Beautiful example of taking a then-60-year old French song from from 1945, much covered, recognizable to many generations of people alive today. Shannon’s whispery version ends slowly and softly, only to be picked up and continued by piano. Wistful and so touching. And experienced emotionally by several characters. Makes you wonder what they were thinking in that moment. LOST was very good at emotionally wrapping or punctuating the scenes. The more obvious incidents feel hamhanded. But this one is perfect.
My fiance and I have started watching this show because I remembered this scene after watching Finding Nemo again. The first time I watched it, I was 10 years old. I'm 20 now, and I'm still tearing up at this song.
Just remember: make no attempt to look up spoilers and, instead, take your time ploughing through all six series. Flying blind is a blessing, not a curse. Don’t throw it away like I did.
I really think the first season was the best, because the characters were more interesting, they all seemed to have people that they missed, secrets and problems. In the following seasons they just look like they all forgot their past, and accepted too much their life on the island.. .. BOONE I MISS YOU
I'm watching the series for the first time now and this is the episode I am up to. I really hope that isn't the case cause the flashbacks and the character development is what separates this from other shows. Without that, it can be no way near as good.
@@tandemyeti2515 well.. the next seasons are nowhere as good as the first, but that doesn't mean you won't enjoy them just as much ! Have fun, I would love to be able to watch it again for the first time :)
I also think that the first season was the best. For me it had the best main characters. They killed off far too many of them too quickly and introduced too many new ones. I wish Shannon survived longer and Boone could pop up in her flashback episodes (well at least until season 5). A flashback about her time in Paris could have been interesting. Also her relationship with Sayid was just starting to grow.
Season 1 of Lost is like a poetry book. Each episode gets me everytime and makes me feel a different emotion than the one before. That's the kind of thing i can't find in the recent successful tv shows such as BB, GoT, TWD simply because this is unique.

I speak French on a daily basis and her french is horrific. Only one sentence is somewhat understandable but the rest.... Too bad. ould have liked to have seen an American serie using french correctly
She has a lovely voice. Her accent is really good BTW. It's funny because in the french version, Shannon says that she went to Berlin and not Paris, and back when I was a kid, it was a complete nonsense for me because "La Mer" is a french song. I learned, later, that she went to Paris in the original version. And in the French version, Danielle Rousseau is German, of course.
Me encanta esa canción!, me ecanta Lost!, me encanta el mar, y ver a Kate al final con el avión del amor de su infancia que murió por culpa de ella es simplemente

One of my favorite episodes, unfortunately it exposes a huge plot hole. The end of the French version of 'Finding Nemo' does not contain the song La Mer. it actually contains the song 'Beyond the Sea" - same melody, completely different lyrics and an understandable oversight. Had Shannon watched the movie over and over like she said, she would have learned the lyrics to the wrong song, and would not have recognized the words Danielle Rousseau had written in her notes.

Marta Pérez re-watching it now and I swear to god it *sucks* knowing how everyone’s going to die.
Beautiful and special Shannon. My favorite female character of Lost. Maggie Grace is an amazing actress!

Narwhal Fox Shannon was useless. Glad she died
Narwhal Fox too much drama with her

Tom Riddle she wasn’t useless. people made her feel useless so she never showed what she was fully capable of.
I love that this is scored by Michael Giacchino who would go on to score many Pixar films.
