- JustPlanes on the Flight Deck of the SUNWING Boeing 737-800 for departure from Montego Bay Jamaica for a flight to Toronto. In addition to the takeoff and a pilotsview the First Officer will present the top cockpit panel to you.
Just Planes is very happy to welcome Sunwing, the 281st airline in our Cockpit series! Sunwing was founded 15 years ago and today it operates a fleet of around 40 Boeing 737 to around 75 destinations! This program features some of the airlines Caribbean routes with flights to the Dominican Republic and Jamaica. Our crews will take you through all their work from the time they show up at the airport and prepare the flight to their work in the cockpit before takeoff and during the flight. They talk about the flightplan, route, fuel, about the 737, how they became pilots and a lot more including the checklists, takeoff and landing briefings with charts. Also included is the usual dose of great scenery!

The 737-800 is an amazing aircraft and I love the view of the cockpit. Awesome rainy takeoff that sounds great from both camera positioning. That camera view of the wing during the sunset is so beautiful. Beautiful terrain, landscape, coastline, and waters during the takeoff. I love going through the clouds and seeing how the rain reacts to a moving plane. Beautiful skies throughout this video as well. I love when a pilot shows us the plane's equipment and as he does, he points it out and explains about it. You can learn so much from him about this 737-800. I love it, awesome video.

Great vlog as always! Has the OH panel been the same since the roll out of the 737 back in 1967? If everything is self monetoring, I think it was very modern back then. I have seen the OH of the 707 and the 727. The one who is doing the monetoring there is the F/E. Does the AS pilots talk about the OH in the farewell flight to the -200 in 2006?

What is the power of the specs wore by the pilot ?
How come the stab trim is changing while 1st officer is flying manually, I thought that was only a FBW feature in Airbus; I know some older 737 had a pitch hold sytem on autopilot, is that what's happening here?
The pilot can adjust the trim while flying with an electric trim button on the yoke. The pilot is trimming himself like you would on for example a cessna, so its still old school flying
The 737 has a system called Speed Trim System (STS). It automatically adjusts the trim to make the pilots feel pressure to avoid pulling or pushing too much on the yoke during high thrust and low airspeed operations. MCAS on the 737 MAX was essentially an updated version of the STS.

Good question Michelle. In my 30 years of dealing and seeing pilots at work I would say they do not worry about either. Most important is the preparation they put into the flight checking the aircraft, the weather, the route, making sure they have enough fuel etc... if all that is prepared as it should they really have nothing to worry about... If you have to go into work every day worrying about something thats really no life I would say.
