Very good point regarding meal ordering in restaurants. I have seen another UA-cam channel where 2 adults and 2 kids ordering one okonomiyaki at a proper restaurant and it’s really terrible. Japanese people never do this and it is frowned upon. Even if they don’t say anything up front for sure they’ll be talking behind your back about it. This leads to foreigners getting a bad rep. Please remember to order minimum one item per person at any restaurant to be respectful.
Thanks for all the tips! Heading to Japan in the spring, can’t wait! As far as the bidet toilets- my son and daughter-in-law live in Jeju South Korea and having been there many times, (as well as Seoul) I made the decision to buy 2 of them for my home. It was also a wonderful wedding present for my son… we went out to shop for it together and got the best one for them to enjoy. Because my husband and I travel a lot, we ALWAYS miss our bidet and wish more countries would come on board!
Japan is probably up there with the difficulty of the language, but you figure it out and manage to get around. What I really like is that you feel super safe, walked around Tokyo at New Years eve in the middle of the night without any worries. Now I just need to figure out where I want to travel next, most of the easy countries is checked off so it probably be more and more challenging.
Great information!! Absolutely love your videos ! As a Nova Scotian myself I’m so proud of you both and all your success ❤️ So excited about your next adventure!
I always fly into Tokyo (Narita Airport) everything there is very laid out with English translations. Cheapeast way to get into Tokyo from Narita is by bus! I always take the train!! Looking forward to seeing your travels through Hawaii thanks for the great videos!!
I love Japanese convenience stores. They are the best in the world! When I was working in Japan, the convenience store bento was my staple. You might not see drive-through in Japan, but you will see convenience stores everywhere.
Thank you for introducing my country Japan. I must tell you that ICOCA, SUICA, or PASMO cards can be used in some cafes, shops, restaurants, vending machines in stations, and some restaurants as well as convenient stores. Like VISA, Mastercard, or AMEX, you can find SUICA or ICOCA signs where you can use those cards for payment. As ICOCA, SUICA and PASMO are interconnected, if you find one of these 3 signs, I think you can use any of these 3 cards. I live in Japan, but I don't use cash often. Watch vending machines and shops and cafes, and you'll find these signs. Some shops or restaurants choose not to show these signs even if cards are accepted. So, if you cannot speak Japanese, I recommend you to show your credit card or ICOCA card and ask, " Credit card, OK?", or "ICOCA card OK?" Most Japanese know those English words.
Very helpful video. I am a little intimidated by Japan. If we ever decide to visit we will contact you. So excited to see what island you’ll be visiting! Another great job guys~Cara 😊
Fantastic video! These types of videos are what make you stand out from everyone else! Thanks for the travel tips! I’m very interested to see some Hawaii videos that’s for sure! Safe travels, y’all 😊
I am so happy you're going to Hawaii! When you said you were going to the US in the past, I have to admit I was a little disappointed, but Hawaii is definitely on my bucket list!! 😎🌴
This is a very informative and helpful video! If I can add one more tip - try to get a business card of your hotel. Just in case you get lost or do take a taxi, showing the card to someone for directions will greatly help you get back to your home base.
Great tip TT! We did that in Beijing actually. But now that we mainly try to avoid taxis and use Ubers, Lyfts, Grabs etc that usually solves that issue 👍 - Trevor
Who knew toilets could be something to be so excited about and look forward to! 😂🤣. They sound….. uhmmmm…, almost fun. 🤭 Thanks for another great video. Looking forward to seeing your Hawaii videos! Safe travels.
Line ups are not a thing in Japan, but a thing in Tokyo (or only some places in Osaka) from point of view of Japanese living in a local city, though Japanese from Tokyo don't know about this fact.
I don’t know I’m on the fence about Japan. The biggest reason it being so expensive. As far as Hawaii, you’ll feel you’re in the United States but of course the geography is that of a pacific island. It’s also quite expensive but very beautiful. You guys have been to gorgeous beaches so Hawaii won’t be that different from the beaches you’ve been to. Have fun.
But the many of us have been living in Asia for many years and been to Japan many times lol 😅 Also fyi korea and Japan are also east asia 🌏 The height of the people in Japan was my biggest culture shock when i first went lol Also how did you pay so much for a hotel? I found some super affordable foreigner friendly ones for 30 or 40 a night on airbnb
Hello guys.. first up, there's no need of background music really.. esp the looping music it's basically annoying 😊😅 other than that great travel tips❣️
Honestly, an in-depth video about Japan’s toilets, vending machines and convenience stores alone could easily be done if one were inclined to do so, those aspects of the country are so advanced 😅. As sad as I am about this series being over, I am equally excited about the next adventure to Hawaii 🏄!
The most important thing is not to insult Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan. An American UA-camr shouted to Japanese people on a train in Japan, "We're going to drop another atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which indiscriminately killed scores of civilians, is the N-word in Japan.
Why should we all speak English if we live in Japan? Stop complaining! If you complain, please do not come. We Japanese are so tired of UA-camrs like you guys come and complain about our country in public. Again, the train system wasn’t built for the tourists, it’s for locals.
That is not true, where there are foreign language guidance, the first one you will find is English. A lot have Chinese and Korean too but again, if they have foreign language guidance, there is always English.

Good to know... maybe it was just the Osaka airport. We had no issues at all catching the train to Narita on our flight out of Japan 👍 - Trevor
Anna and Trevor, you guys are awesome. Thanks for so much great information on this video.

When I was in Vancouver, it was always Japanese restaurants that had lineups outside. Perhaps they were homesick haha.

Japan and Korea are the same. Less nationals speak English. With transpo taxis are expensive so it would be practical to ride their subway transpo.
