- I tried shrimp from an indoor shrimp farm in Downey (Los Angeles County)! We made a video to capture fellow Columbia alum Steve Sutton's progress.
For a quick refresher, Steve and I met about a year ago. At the time Steve was raising capital and trying to secure space for his indoor shrimp farm. Steve's conviction was undeniable, and I was gripped by the tale of his journey. Steve took the road less traveled, getting his start picking clams off a conveyor belt, and eventually landing in Thailand to learn the ropes of the shrimp business. As we sat in a large open artist's space just outside of Downtown Long Beach last year, I couldn't help but think this idea was at once inspiring and crazy!
Considering all the challenges, it blew my mind to try his shrimp last week. Not only was it the freshest shrimp I've ever had, but it tasted amazing! I am so impressed by all that he has accomplished in the past year, and a huge believer in his vision for a more sustainable future.

"The shrimp are gonna get to hang out in condos; just like they do in the wild."
Watch it again. That wasn’t said.
Where do you get the babies shrimp. I'm having a hard time finding a place. Do you have any suggestions?
