The most exceptional performance by Timmy Xu (Bai Luo Yin). The opening scenes - when he relives a public humiliation of a school bully who claims his absent mother is a prostitute - as he seeks to submerge his tragedy in alcohol is a masterpiece both in performance by both Timmy Xu (Bao Luo Yin) and Johnny Huang (Gu Hai) . The street scape of a lost neighbourhood bar in the backstreets of Beijing is poetry. Xu however raises the benchmark to the very top and the chemistry between the two young actors in their first film is to be seen to be believed. Having worked all of my life in television, one learns that great television is where you see it, hear it and smell it. As if a dimension impossible to achieve but conveyed and it is here. I can feel the frost of the night on Bao Luo Yin's face as I witness the catharsis at the loss of a his mother and the absence of love from age seven to seventeen... The forensics of the beauty created are interesting to ponder, for despite the power of the performances in the bar scene is also the intricate direction, lighting and use of music. It is very beautiful! "I'm using my own unique way to love you..." Stunning!

Gu Hai proudly declared he used that crappy bike to woo Bai Luo Yin, and since they didn’t discuss in advance, it caught Bai Luo Yin by surprise that he said the bike is so crappy it would collapse if he got on, and the two accidentally repeated the same conversation they had here. It’s so funny and moving.:-)

Because of the stereotypes that love and hate are two sides of the same coin and bring a person closer, and the other stereotype that the closest form of love is that of family. So having the ties of family in a BL make it that much closer to feeling like a marriage, in areas of the world where gay marriage is illegal.
