Many years ago I was on a ferry, crossing the bay to the island of Paqueta' when an old musician borrowed a guitar from my travelling companion a gave us this song. This UA-cam recording is the first time I've heard this lament in 50 years. I remember it was at that very moment, that day that I learned to play guitar....the sensibility was engraved inside me. I bought a guitar as soon as I could, and what I couldn't express on accordion or piano found voice through the guitar.

Absolutely brilliant. It's just perfect, in all details. Did you catch those very subtle dissonant notes Thomas sings near the end, that resolve so beautifully in the end?
