As for Sting and the Police. Sting likes 9ths and the left hand to this song is a 9ths-fest. I find this song great fun to play. I have been playing it for years and only now have I decided to polish it up a bit and make a recording. I hope you like it too.
Piano faces cam= 10/10
Killing it man, respect
Thank you. For many years I kept the camera pointing only at my hands because I pull ridiculous faces while playing. Now I still pull faces but I don't care so much. :)
Aside from the great song, it's great to see someone enjoying their performance. Great job!
Thank you - it certainly is a great song, although I was trying to avoid swinging about too much while playing.
I'd love to hear you cover 'Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic'.
yes, please!
The chorus sounds so perfect. Greetings from Finland.
Thank you. Sting is a pioneer of driving rhythms in the vocals.
Great playing !
The sound of the nordstage is just so amazing :O
Ditto
Grew up listening to the police in my dads car, excellent job Paul!!!
Really impressive: Greetings from Norway. :-)
This is a mine of gold for memes
the sound out of that thing
Just one word Paul - Great!
Hi Paul
Brilliant rendition !
You looked as though you
enjoyed playing that .........
We enjoyed watching !!
Best wishes ,
John 👏👏👏🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Yes, I LOVE it! "You should have known this right from the start", but it is good that you "decided to polish it up a bit and make a recording"! Thank you :)
Go Paul
U r a mazing
👍👍👍
10* rating from me
Thank god you had the idea of making your arrangments public. I never had so much fun playing piano than when I discovered your channel! Thank you so much!
You are very welcome Iris, and thank you for your comment. Sorry for my slow reply. There are so many good tunes which work well on the piano and so much fun to be had.
Really good cover. Excellent timing and emotion in what you did. Thanks, Paul.
Thanks Andy. It's a good song and satisfying to know that you approve of my rendition.
Love it Paulwwells beautifully played keep up the good work :)
Dude much respect you play the best songs!!
SUPERBLY DONE.
You should have more subscribers! Keep up the great work you do!
Great performance Paul, bravo! 👏👏
One of the best covers of UA-cam 😉
Thank you for your kind comments :)
perfect as always.
Execution is flawless, as always. Loved the patch you chose for this.
Thank you Philip. Yes - I'm continuing to tweak the patch, varying it from song to song, but a hint of stereo chorus electric piano certainly warms and broadens out the sound a lot.
Piano playing: 10
Facial Expressions: 11!
I didn't see what I had recorded until it came back to me edited and ready to upload. I was really embarrassed and nearly got it removed. I had no idea I pull such crazy faces. Thank you for commenting. Now I don't feel so bad. :)
Ohh yes. 😘😘😘👍👍👍
Thanks Jim. I see we share our admiration of all of Sting's work.
Short, precise, accurate, love it ! May be a little more bass line in the slow chord center part, just remembering the motion there...
Thank you Markus. I've just had a listen to the original (maybe I should have done that before recording it) and you are right, there are more thirds in the bass line.
paulwwells yeah, but it's already awesome close play if you didn 't listened to it before this version. I must admit it pushed me to play it again after a while, forgot a bit, but have the chance to be able to learn fast after looking at you here, songs mostly and by the way this one I listened quite often in the early 80' 😉
Great cover!!
We do llike it too... well done sir
Thanks Tom, I'm glad you like it.

AMAZING PIANIST :D
Message in a piano
Paul...just fantastic as usual. I was wondering about the action on the keyboard of that model of Nord Synthesiser. Is it weighted at all or is it more akin to that of an organ? Keep up the great work man!
Hi John. Thanks, and thanks for your question. I would say the Nord is very nicely weighted. Like all keyboards it takes a little bit of getting used to but it feels very much like you're playing a carefully balanced grand piano. Definitely nothing like an electric organ.
Uff
Nice job Paul! Did you use the Roland integra again for the bass or is it all just the Nord stage 2?
Thanks. The Integra is playing the usual bass sound, but also a chorus electric piano for about the two octaves above middle C
Can we get a tutorial on this?
Hello Paul, could you please make a tutorial of this song because I have the sheets but I have a very hard time actually reading the sheets. I need to learn the song for school and my music teacher helps my during the lessons but if there was a tutorial I could also learn in my free time
Thank you Nicky. I'll try to catch up with making tutorials. I have a backlog of songs with sheet music which I need to catch up on.
paulwwells okay succes!
How does one seemingly split their brain in order to play both the melody and the bass line??? Coming from a bass player perspective?
Hi RJ - thanks for your question. Do you ever sing lead vocals and play bass? I am always impressed that it is possible to practice alone for this.
I cant find the sheets on your website. Is it possible to get it somewhere else?
Hi Moruos - I have added a link to my work in progress board at the bottom of paulwwells.com and Message in a Bottle is on the board to have sheets made - so I will get there eventually. Sorry I cannot help any more than that at the moment.
Great Mr.Wells. I personalty don`t like the f minor to Db.
Thanks. "I hope that someone gets my unusual chord progression". I know what you mean, it's a bit edgy - but it preferable to the world of only super-safe boring chord changes music seems to have dug itself into these days.
Hi. Would you please write the intro notes??
C G D - Ab Eb Bb - Bb F C - F C G Ab
How do you arrange the pieces you play?
Hi Patrick. Thank you for your question. I try making arrangements for lots of songs. I have a spotify playlist of songs which I think might work well on piano and I listen to it while I am working. If I cannot find a good sounding arrangement for a song I give up. Many songs do not have enough of a hook to work well on keyboards alone. If a song has a strong recognisable phrase then I just keep playing it whenever I have a few spare minutes. Each time I play it I make small changes to get it to sound better.
paulwwells Thank you very much for your answer. I think you have a realy unique way of arranging your music. Its really different to the usual covers on UA-cam because its on the piano. It catches so much of the original song and it creates similar feelings, of the original aswell. I really love them, please keep up the good work!
