In the Racing Pigeon News there was a great story about a couple who fly pigeons and they designed those boxes after realizing that the post office and pigeoneers needed a good sturdy shipping box
White birds with colors on the wings muscles are called saddles, those brownish pale ones are called dunns, or yellows, then u have a silver. The red and white bird i believe is called a red splash. I don’t know all the color names either because theres so many. But check out old videos on my channel if u want to learn about homing pigeons. Good luck! 👍
I would do the unboxing inside next time. Haha; you don't want them jumping out then you're out on some money cause that pigeon won't be sticking around. There's alot to learn for racing pigeons.
If your going to invest on a team of racers, then the way to go is pedigree, strain, and learn the science of the ‘eye sign ‘ on a homing pigeons they have almost complete all around vision called ‘ Monocular Vision they can see their coop from very far away, besides it can tell you their state of health. Good luck,
Those cream colored bird's are called "" Duns" or "" Yellow "". Strombergs? Foys Pigeon Supplies? The pressed cardboard ones work well. So do dog food bowls.
I used to raise colored homing pigeons in Georgia. Sadly, I had to get rid of my homers due to severe nose bleeds. The yellow birds are diluted reds. Either ash red or recessive red, diluted. Actual colors in pigeons are ash red, blue, and brown. Each color listed in order of dominance. The thing that changes the appearance of the colors, are a multitude of factors, called modifiers. Some are dominant and some are recessive.
Looking forward to more pigeon videos! I used pigeons to steady up a 1 year old setter, and would like to learn about more techniques for training my new GSP pup.
I was really into pigeon racing until a few years ago. At one point my wife and I went to Belgium and bought a pair that had superb breeding from the Herbots. They became our foundation pair and produced multiple winners including a 500 mile champ. I got burnt on the racing and now just use them for dog training, fun tosses and as pets. It was funny though because the Herbots usually sell their birds to wealthy chinese racers but they took pity on me being a firefighter and sold a pair that normally would have been thousands for five hundred bucks! Those are good looking birds, hope you enter some races.
Hi again I think those perishes are to close together don't do it like that the birds will be fighting all the time. Pigeons like to have some espace when they rest or sleep
I noticed my pigeon dont like perching under each other that may be an issue with the way you have the perches. I was thinking military airplane names. Thunderbird Stinger Ghostrider Lancer Spirit Galaxy Huron Liberty Hercules These will work for a litter of pups too.
Question for all you pigeon aficionados: Is it true that you can tell the better homers (longer distance bird) by the larger-size white puffs on their beaks? Or, do the larger puffs have more to do with the older the bird is? Thanks
The perches are too close and too low, your nest bowls buy a nest pad made of coconut fiber keeps the parasites off the babies. Move your boxes off the ground and make a plywood framed with 2x2 feed them there, also provide a container with grit. I agree with other post learn how to hold them cause they will stress out on you.
Great to see you improving the quality of your birds but can I advise you to read as much as you can plus watch some of the youtube videos on line where you can learn so much. First thing please take the time to learn how to hold a pigeon properly. Good luck👍
So, now you're a pigeon racer! I'm 62 and started with pigeons when I was 15 years old. Catching them under bridges and parking garages. Not a lot of barns in suburban NJ just outside of NYC. Lol! However, we trapped and hunted ducks and deer and fished sweet ( fresh) and Salt water. We moved to Amishland middle of PA 27 years ago and bought a house, raised a few children. Great pigeon club in Reading PA about 15 miles away. Enjoy your Pigeons, dogs and family. Not necessarily in that order.
I am trying to purchase a pair of pigeons to begin a coop . Would you be jume enough to send me the link to where you bought those please I would appreciate it
You need to learn how to hold a pigeon properly because every video you have of pigeons is horrible lol. Doesn’t really look like you care for the birds much, just keep in mind they are an investment to your dogs as well. Hope you get into it more. Good luck
@@StandingStoneKennels your pigeons are beautiful and healthy . Please call their home a loft chickens have a coop . A pigeon loft is worthy of these fantastic birds . Congratulations you’ve learned how to hold a pigeon correctly . We are all learners.

The perches between the boxes makes more sense cause pigeons are social birds but they also like a bit of espace

The pigeons your calling dilute are yellows. Looks like you have a yellow checker and a recessive yellow bird.
Yellow! Very cool

How true about herbots they are not cheap plus import fees!
My husband is really into pigeons but he hasn't found a place to buy English carrier within the United States. Any suggestions?
Cream birds are yellow which are the dilute to red
I like it! Also seeing tan and lemon as a color descriptor...
You must have got them from Foy's. That's where I get all my racing homers from. Jerry is great to deal with and is very knowledgeable.
Yes I did! Good guy for sure!

please handle the birds with confidence if you are afraid to Holden you can end up damaging the plumage and hearting the bird
You could just put perches on the ends...
We call them reds
Make some space/separate to the perch sir ..
