    Excellent video Jack, Really apreciate your ideas on rehoming old birds. I have an unrelated question that watching this video made me think of. Can an old bird be trained for racing if it was never trained or flown as a young bird? I ask because I have a lot of breeders that grew up here but have never been out.

    • @burakloft568
      @burakloft568  3 роки тому +1

      Yes old bird can be trained to race. But I would take it slow. Like let them loft fly for month or 2. Than take out slowly. The birds that never flown that grown Up there. I would do the same thing like I did for re-homing old birds. Than you can train them slowly after they been flying for about 2 months. That is how I would do it.

The pigeons are being kept in small coops (3x4x4 feet) up on stilts. I'm trying to give them a clip so they can still fly roof to roof at their new home but not migrate back to me and settle into their new home.
    I have some pairs in coops that are on babies also and want to just open the coops and let the parents decide to stay for their babies (we have a pigeon door). Can I just open it up and let then choose to stay?

      That is great question. Other people might have a different ways but this. But this is what l have done in the past. I cut there food to 1/2 what normal would feed them for like 4 or 5 days and every time I feed them I make whistling sound Letting them know it’s feeding time and they get used to that So every day I try to feed them by hand. by the fifth day some of them will come and eat out of my hand. because they are hungry enough to not be so scared. If that don’t work try to cut their food back even more just until they get used to you then go back up to normal rations
