there should be a button just to activate or not the "dual"(stereo) option, as this function could optionally work in all modes and that would be incredible btw, Its hard to decide between this and the keeley eccos delay.
I have a Volante, but man, the D1 and Keeley Eccos sound SO good too. I keep telling myself I don't need a second delay, that spot should be a modulation lol
I bought this pedal last week and haven’t had a chance to explore it too much yet, but this made me excited. P.s. I was assuming you were going to be like a lot of typical delay pedal demo people who just play arpeggiated chords or simple parts. It was a nice surprise when you ripped into some fast lead stuff and showed how you can use the attack setting to keep things out of the way when playing lots of notes. I play plenty of ambient things myself, but I also hoped that I could use that attack control to create a nice delay for busier lead stuff. Nice video all the way around!
Super video, Danke! Hab meins eben bestellt! Was sehr wenige erwähnen, dass man das Tempo vom Mako D1 auch über Midi Clock steuern kann, was für mich DER Kaufgrund war. Abgesehen von dem genialen Sound!
Thanks for showing that tape delay trick! Been trying to get a sound like that but didn’t think to use Digital, so that helps a ton! Can’t wait to try that.
Kris. Unrelated question. I have a new amp. PRS Sonzera 20. I need an OD that compliments it. I have tried BB AT, Soul Food, Hot Tubes, Pugilist and several blues breaker style pedals. My board is simple. Tuner-MXR 6b EQ- Xotic Super Clean- TC Forcefield- OD is vacant- and my FX loop is the Walrus Audio D1 when it gets here then into my TC HOF reverb. Any suggestions on drive/distortion. BTW this amp hated my LunaStone Red Fuzz 1.
Kris I ordered my D1 from a local store. It didn't work when it arrived. I emailed Walrus Audio and told them about it. THEY IMMEDIATELY SENT ME A REPLACEMENT AND A RETURN LABEL. I love this pedal but I love Walrus Audio more!
That's the video I've been waiting for! You could have kept going, I wouldn't have minded! The delay pedal should be plugged into the effects loop on the amp and not in the pedal chain, right?
Banjo Bones Thanks man! Well I only started uploading videos a year ago. UA-cam is a crowded place so it takes time for a new channel to grow. That’s alright though, I’m not in a hurry. Haha! I live in Germany for over 10 years now. How come?
3/4 of the price where I am - and still it seems you have to chose between stereo (dual) and the delay types you want. So no wide stereo vintage. I don't understand that.
Greetings Kris! Amazing content, quick question, Did you play the sound samples for a lot of guitar products on Thomann? The first playing part sounds and feels like the "Indie" samples on most of the products.. cheers and be safe!
Can you run two pedal chains into this pedal and then outputs to two different amps? Not looking for stereo, I'm hoping one delay pedal can be used in two different pedal chains. So when I switch from amp to amp, both pedal chains can use this delay pedal? Is that possible with stereo pedals like this?
Kris, would you choose this one instead of the timeline? Not because of the price, but due to what it offers. I have a timeline, and I'm starting to think about changing for the D1.
Try out a Syncopy Stone Deaf, another really good delay. It's analog with digital control. It have a volume and tone controls, which can be used as a booster for solos. 4 presets (128 with midi), expression pedal and modulation. Was braucht man noch?) l)
Hey Kris! What a beautiful review of the D1. I'm searching for THE perfect delay for my electric AND acoustic guitar. I am kind of torn back and forth between the D1 and the Timeline. On Ebay they are both around 300€. Sound on both devices is amazing! Just the size is smaller on the D1. Which one would you recommand? Greetings Friedemann :-)
Thanks Lot! That’s a very hard question man, both delays are absolutely fantastic. The Timeline is more rweakable and has analog dry-through, if that’s something that matters to you (that’s important if you wanna run a wet-dry setup). I think I prefer the D1 though for mono or standard stereo setups though, for quite a few reasons. 1. way smaller 2. Sounds magical 3. It has unique features like the bit crusher delay 4. Super easy to use You can’t go wrong with any of this two pedals, that’s the good part of this. Haha! Cheers
I love the oxygene bit! your a star Mr Barosci sir! Why do i always want the stuff in your videos? I have a kemper I should be happy... Hah! Good demo and review Thank you Kris Could you confirm.which Revv amp you use I'd like to get a profile and try it with.my Peavey Generation.( Tele) Thanks Kris I need to work so.i can spend hah!!
Paul Dugdale ahh Paul, thank you!! I play the Revv Dynamis 7/40 head. But if you want the distorted sounds that not gonna be enough. Haha! I always use the amp clean and use drive pedals for dirt. I use four overdrives mainly: King of Tone, Revv G2, Tate FX Antares and Coppersound Foxcatcher.
@@KrisBarocsi OK so I need the Revv g2 first then maybe the foxcatcher I.have the Fuchs drives the green and the red ( plush drive?) they are nice but can't get the bite!! I suppose it's all a learning experience! Thanks Kris. I hope the family are well
Chris im having a hard time choosing a delay i had the timeline returned it it was 740 dollars ugh i was gunna get a used one for 400 but its way to much lately I've been adventurous ambient kinda perhaps you could throw some names at me i can check on you tube .and for real Chris what are your personal top 5 delays tim from london canada
amit reznik it is hard. Both are fantastic. It depends on what you want from it. The Eccos probably has an even more realistic tape delay sound and the D1 offers endless possibilities. And the tweak and attack knobs... man!
So you said it doesn't get in the way of your tone what you are playing. I'm a man who HATES delay because of that alone. It just sounds cluttered. How sure are you I'll feel the same way about it as you do
Omg this intro 😂😂😂 Love it!
Szymon Szymanski haha! I know! And I’m sorry! I just had to leave it in. It’s so bad... 😂
Kris Barocsi it’s brilliant!
Beautiful intro indeed
pop corn :) all we needed to get entertained get yourselves confortable and enjoy !
Kris, believe it or not. I figured out the exact thing when I was 13 on my first guitar.
This is the best D1 demo for preset ideas and using it in a real band context.
Thanks a lot man!! 🤘
Man, I do NOT need another pedal on my wish list. This one sounds amazing!
You have become one of the best guitar youtubers!!!! keep it up!!!
Wow! That's some compliment. Thanks so much dude, I try my best! :)
I saw many delay pedals videos, and this pedal really impressed me, also your nice playing.
Helpful video indeed.
Thanks
there should be a button just to activate or not the "dual"(stereo) option, as this function could optionally work in all modes and that would be incredible
btw, Its hard to decide between this and the keeley eccos delay.
a lot of good and unique delays coming out the past couple years
I have a Volante, but man, the D1 and Keeley Eccos sound SO good too. I keep telling myself I don't need a second delay, that spot should be a modulation lol
You always need more delay man, two delays opens up so much. I have 3 on my board
That's how you make a potentially complicated pedal into a easy to use time machine. Great pedal!
great review Kris! ordered one, can not wait to check it out.
Thanks man, I think you’ll love it. Cheers

Thanks a lot Jesse, yeah I try to make videos that I’d also love to find on UA-cam when I’m looking for something. :) cheers

i love delay. this sounded nice. has a good amount of features for a smaller box
Deine Demos sind sehr cool
Hubert Rausch vielen Dank!! 🤘
hey Kris thank you. very informative and great playing!
john harris thanks a lot John!
What a fantastic pedal!
Finally Got Mine In & The Subtleties Will Have You Rethinking Your Songs- As In “How Did I Write Without This?” It’s Worth Every Single Penny.
you should make an album just with the intros u play... they r sweeet!!!
Amazing pedal, great playing !!
Amazing sound buddy, really round, well balanced and defined! ❤️👌
Kicking the video off with 'Popcorn'? Wonder how many viewers will remember that one?!
Thanks - it was in the dregg's of my mind but wouldn't have remembered without help!
Great video Kris! Are there Alnico ll’s in that es-335? Sounds awesome!
Thanks a lot! It has the stock Memphis PAF humbuckers. Sweet guitar, isn’t it?
Thumbs up for the "Popcorn" intro alone.
Great review and a great player.
OK Kris. You sold me. Mine is on the way.
Haha! Dude you’ll love it! Have fun with it. Cheers

I sunscribed because of your awesome riffs. You should make songs out of them man.
intro cracked me up. wonder how many people know what that was.
Awesome!. Care to share a good reverb type setting? Thanks much appreciated.
That's the video I've been waiting for! You could have kept going, I wouldn't have minded! The delay pedal should be plugged into the effects loop on the amp and not in the pedal chain, right?
Great demo Chris... i am surprised you only have 11k followers, where are you located?
Banjo Bones Thanks man! Well I only started uploading videos a year ago. UA-cam is a crowded place so it takes time for a new channel to grow. That’s alright though, I’m not in a hurry. Haha!
I live in Germany for over 10 years now. How come?
so it's like a strymon timeline for half the price :D
@181Burnout timeline is 450
Timeline can be found for about $350 used
3/4 of the price where I am - and still it seems you have to chose between stereo (dual) and the delay types you want. So no wide stereo vintage. I don't understand that.
Great pedal, but I think that after the Strymon delay, Boss DD8 is the best Delay. 😉
Greetings Kris! Amazing content, quick question, Did you play the sound samples for a lot of guitar products on Thomann? The first playing part sounds and feels like the "Indie" samples on most of the products.. cheers and be safe!
He is also at Thomann yt channel

Incredible Pedal Kris. Endless creative options. Does it have a dotted 8 setting on it ?
Tom Corr yesssss sir! I had a shot of that somewhere hidden in the vid. They really thought of everything at Walrus.
Thanks Kris. It’s like you read my mind. I was just thinking earlier I could do with a great delay. I’ve got some saving to do.
Uhhh is that the Neck from the giveaway-caster?😄 (in the Background)
L2B7 Music Good job! 👏 I was wondering if anyone will ever see it. I thought it’s gonna be a nice little teasing. Haha!
Are u using a trs cable for stereo out or are you running a mono and mono out it
I love the oxygene bit!
your a star Mr Barosci sir!

Can this be setup to double track, kinda like Randy Rhoads with the AMS DMX 15-80 digital delay trick? Kinda sounded close at 9:30.
Which pedal is better? This walrus D1 or the boss dd8? Anybody answer me?
I'm stuck between this and the Boss D-500 🤔
Yeah, sounds awesome! 😍 Gotta fast for some time now for it... 🤣
It's worth that! Haha! Such an inspiring delay. Csók Danim!
For Ambient these 2 are great for sure : Earthquacker Devices Avalanche Run and KMA Audio Machines Cirrus. Hope i helped you.
thisss or the EQ Dispatch Master??? I just want to have fun playing at home
this or the keeley eccos??? hard decision!!
amit reznik it is hard. Both are fantastic. It depends on what you want from it. The Eccos probably has an even more realistic tape delay sound and the D1 offers endless possibilities. And the tweak and attack knobs... man!
I know I'm late to the party but it's actually 9 on board presets
D1 vs Strymon Timeline? Help
I've tried every bypass mode I'm Going In Mono out stereo and no matter what I do every time I bypass the pedal by signal goes to the left side
I saw in another review that you have to change it from true bypass to buffered for the mono to go out to both sides.
Oops!!!! Kris that is!!!
leftymadrid 😂 it’s all good mate! Thanks!
You should really have demo-ed this in stereo...
Walrus and they "space effects" ... ahh ... ARP-87, Fathom, SLO, Fathom, Descent ... how to choose, how to choose ...
stanislavmigra yeah man, it’s not easy. For reverb I love their Fathom. For delay? Man, the D1 is insane!! I wasn’t kidding with the title. :)
Next time "Funky Town" please! ;)
So you said it doesn't get in the way of your tone what you are playing. I'm a man who HATES delay because of that alone. It just sounds cluttered. How sure are you I'll feel the same way about it as you do
Turn off the distortion!
