I have over 2,000 bootlegs I made on professional equipment from 1981 to date but lack the time to transfer them :-( but realise I have some very rare stuff that should be preserved for the greater good !
I have a VHS video of them performing this track live on the BBC - Keith Chegwin introuduces them miming live on stage...the video link breaks and it cust to Rolf Harris before cutting back to Eyeless in Gaza! Classic stuff! Have great perfect Edinburgh recodring of them in 1985 too! What a band!
Comme cela fait plaisir de réentendre le groupe de notre vie étudiante au début des années 80. Toujours aussi frais, ils n'ont pas pris une ride. Bonheur à vous.
brilliant. if you like this stuff, check out the music of marine girls, tracey thorn's first LP solo, everything but the girl, orange juice, and prefab sprout. i can't get enough of this era in UK pop.
@@clvrswine I cannot tell if your comment means you think Eyeless In Gaza are massively, colossally underrated or if you think they are not underrated. I think they are underrated.
It was SUPPOSED to be a catastrophe mate. Destroy everyones heritage, rob us all blind, make us as miserable in the process... and then eliminate us. They believe they own the earth... and we are in their way. They want us all dead or enslaved.
No, I owned the vinyl itself when I lived in England. I thought the same then. It's okay though. Not everyone shares the same tastes, and as I mentioned, I've always loved Eyeless in Gaza. Just not this particular song.
Going back thru their catalog is hardly less "turgid". I love the later, more poppy period, but my favorite album is probably Caught In Flux. To each his own....
I dislike that they are 4 dislikes here. Simply one of best songs ever.
Agreed!
This takes me to another place, the vocal melodies are so soothing
Great song, its the constant changes in time signature and melody that makes it for me.
I too love marine girls and all that early 80's Cherry Red Stuff
Brilliant
I have the Pillows and Prayers album!

This duo is so wonderful.
Saw them in Crewe over 20 years ago singing the look of love - very special moment
wonderful stuff
A perfect pop song - period.
beautiful and timeless
0:41 - Cheer up, lads; you're on a fucking barge!
Cracking early 80s alternative/indie
Amazing!!! love this tune im from peru i like eyeless in gaza
Peruvians always had very good taste in music and the Peruvians babes are amazingly hot 😉
it seems so real I dream you here
when I'm haunted
Missed these guys first time round. Underrated!
You don't know what underrated means.
@@clvrswine educate me then

Aickman would be proud. Love this band
New Rizzin
I saw them in Bedford, UK in circa 1981. Tiny place, tiny crowd, and this was the one song that really stood out on the night.
It means don't keep it to yourself. Tell us if it's posted anywhere.
Love this song even tho it's not one of their best songs
what are their best songs in your opinion? super curious and want to hear more!
"Have great perfect Edinburgh recodring of them in 1985 too! What a band!" Don't Bogart that recording, chum.
where is this canal ?
I have no idea what Bogart that recording means sonny
i assume cos it has a vid it is a more popular song from EIG, no? its hard to tell cos some of their lesser known stuff sounds even better than this
underbart!!!!
Eyeless in Gaza was a black and white tv series in the 1970's this is tripe, the theeme tune was inspirational.
They're rather wonderful arent they.
classic eyeless
England was better when it was England. Globalism has been a catastrophe.

England wouldn’t be England without colonialism. Take your racism elsewhere you muppet.
I adore this band, but this song is a turgid mess, unfortunately.
+David Antrobus This is their only song that I really enjoy. Odd.
Let's Play a Record The mysteries of taste. Don't get me wrong: there's a great song in here, but for me the sound mix is atrocious.
Then perhaps try it on a real record and quality stereo and not a youtube vid with barge and waterfall sound effects added in.
