  • In today’s video, I’ll be sharing with you guys the process of getting your hazmat endorsement on your CDL. Ride along with me as I go take my hazmat exam. I’ll also be discussing why I’m not ready to haul fuel at the moment. I think it’s a good idea for all truck drivers to have all of their endorsements. It just gives you as a truck driver more opportunities to do various jobs within the trucking industry. #truckdriver #cdl #trucking #trucker #truckingindustry #hazmat #endorsements #fuelhauler #tankerlife #tankerdriver #imanthonytv #Fuel hauler

Previous food service delivery driver for 2 years. I’ve now been hauling fuel for 1 1/2 years and it’s the best thing I could’ve done. I love it, it’s easy money and not much stress on the body. I can see myself doing this job until I retire

I’m a female food service driver been with PFG for a year now working the ramp. I have every possible endorsement including my TWIC. I’m just trying to rack up more experience years to make myself more marketable in this industry. I’ve been subscribed & watching you for a while now even before I got my class A. I appreciate all the info you have provided me throughout my journey towards becoming a veteran driver. I’ve been also thinking about getting into fuel cuz this ramp life is killing a sista but you’ve made some very valid points here that I will take into consideration before my next move & they’re appreciated. I'm a hazmat driver and I helped a buddy get his endorsements...
Got a tip: The questions on the tests at least in TX are basically the same as what's on the "CDL prep" app on iPhone - think it's a grey steering wheel icon and blue background. They have a practice exam mode you can use and when you take the tests it's pretty much exactly the same. In TX at least. Got blessed to get on a dedicated route hauling gas cylinders 🙏🙏
Edit: Also if you're having a hard time finding appointments in your area but are willing to drive 30 mins to an hour (or more) you can often find DPS/DMW offices that have open appointments earlier than the local city you may live in. I often would drive an hour away or more to get my appointments done and drive back and knock it out instead of waiting weeks for the local appointments to open up.

Not on the other team but you see this guy's company on the shirt and you know why he's in shape. I have done many types of trucking jobs. Coremark, McClane, Sysco all of them are tough. Dollying boxes, up and down ramps, sometimes icy. Old hood stores are the worst because the parking lots are screwed to wheel across. Only thing that was worst and I almost passed out, unloading tires.

A lot of fuel companies do rotating schedule 5x2, 5x3 schedules. Most times you might have to start night shift before there’s an opening for day shift . I started off at Gordan for a year and after my year I quit and went to fuel hauling and I love it! I’ve been doing this for a year and a half already . Another fuel haul company gave me a chance and bro its way better and i have Sunday and Monday off and first shift. The reason im saying this is because if you go to love, pilot or circle K and Kag its more than likely you will go on nights. Those companies are larger and more bodies but if you go with your locals or area fuel hauling companies you more than likely will get days and a better schedule day off like i lucked up with 2xs. You make a good point bro. The only pushback I would give you is that private carriers tend to offer more job stability in my opinion. All it takes is a couple of lost accounts & lost revenue for for-hire carriers to start making changes that could impact driver pay. So there’s definitely pros & cons to both.

    • @brandonevans9182
      @brandonevans9182 11 місяців тому +1

@@imanthonytv it depends far as stability imo. But I work in the field I'm telling you it'd more than just fuel stations so locals will have fuel stations and pump offs aka above ground tanks for industrial. Dawg, when I was in the army transitioning out.
Idk how or why you stumbled on my algorithm but you inspired me to get my CDL. My son’s mom at the time would come into my barracks room and always ask “what is this”? My response would always be truck shit.
For the longest I thought trucks was just OTR shit, I never knew about foodervice, the avenues you could take, or even local.
So boom I started studying like 3months out from my ets date ended getting my permit, and applied for a school here and was there for 8 weeks , stressing cause it was just so difficult, especially being outside all day In The heat. Got all my endorsements + TWIC card. First job I applied to was Sysco and got hired, it was like a 3 week wait from the application to the interview.
I watched your early videos on just the day to day life and using the handcart and here I am a year and a half later one of the only ones left in my orientation working flawlessly and building relationships.
I can’t thank you enough, I used to be in the comments of your old videos asking noob questions but I’m glad I asked.
Your channel is underlooked and you changed my life from making 1350$ every 2 weeks in the army to making that in damn near 3-4 days here at my job now.

if you value having a life, forget fuel hauling. They only care about the load getting in the ground. Weekends, holidays, more people on the road hence more fuel used, more work. Running nights is hell on the body. You mess up its natural circadian rhythm. If you're health conscious and into fitness this will mean a lot to you. Short days are few and far in-between. You'll mainly be running 12hr shifts, if you get 2 consecutive days off they'll probably be a wack ass weekday combo. Mine was Friday off.. I ran 6 nights a week till I had enough. They frown on vacation and time off. Nature of the industry, If you're a family Man, kiss em goodbye. You won't see em. When you're home you'll be sleep until you wake up and hit the road again. The oil companies and refineries make billions, suppliers distributors, marketers make millions. By the time it reaches you the driver, it's peanuts compared to what they make for the hazards of the job. If you still want in, use it as a stepping stone to even more specialized hauling like cryo or LNG Much better work/life balance and big-time bread.

Everyone has to consider what it is for them that they need. For some greener grass is a needed search for others it's about finding green grass. Trucking is individual. There are enough lanes, company's and trucks on the market to work thru options to get to a comfortable resting place.
For me I don't commercially stop at a single scale house in 5 states of running. I never have to stop at all RR crossings. I don't smell like diesel or gasoline and neither does my truck. My clothes don't stink up the house just from air residue of the job. I still bust a decent 4 figures a week, net. I don't diversify myself out of employment. I make it and run with it. If I want 685 miles today I bust them out. If I want consistent local traffic and tight turns on crowded streets and jammed parking lots then I make a decision for that and run my hoses.
We ALL have a decision to make.
    Good video. Keep it real.

Anyone who wants the universal healthcare (meaning the government runs healthcare) should spend a day at the DMV.
It would be the same thing. Endless waiting and bad information.
I just got my CDL last Tuesday. The DMV here in Los Angeles is a joke. Had an appointment on Friday for my drive test. Wait all day and they tell me, sorry come back another day. We don’t have enough time to get to you today. Made another appointment for 10:00 the next week. They called me at 12:30. Finally finished around 2:00 after the inspection, brake test, yard maneuvers and road test. Didn’t get out of there until after 3:00 when all said and done.
Glad it’s over. Got my Class A with tanker, hazmat, doubles/triples.

I would recommend using the CDL Prep app by Jeffery Diaz to study for your hazmat exam. The info will also help you pass the ELDT test. You can go to the App Store on your phone and download the app. I’ll also put a link below that you can use to take your ELDT test. It’s one of the cheapest courses ($59) out there. LOL Honestly Anthony what you started out at in 2019 - $20.33/hr was really not that great. But trucking salaries were much lower in 2019 !! Therefore, his overtime rate is $30.50/hr. So his 60.41 units at $20.33/hr and 20.41 units of overtime hours which equals his bonus or overtime pay of 1/2 of his base pay of $20.33/hr = $10.165 / hr X 20.41 hrs = $207.51.

Hauling fuel comes with a lot of stress (so does all trucking) that can immediately affect you and the general public's safety.
You learn to compartmentalize this very quickly (sink or swim off rip) because there are so many crucial details that cannot be bypassed. You must be on point with paperwork, loading/unloading, driving/maneuvering should be your last concern. Nobody honestly cares about what you need to do to complete your job, at truck stops or gas stations. You need to have thick skin like a walrus and patience like Yoda but still be aggressive/calculated.
Appreciate your honesty as always, just wanna drop that for the folks who comment and think they just need to do this, that, and the 3rd regarding entering this lane and then its all gravy from there.

Tank driving alone is a completely different beast than a box. 6 weeks training at the minimum, safety procedures, loading procedures, unloading procedures and every terminal you load at has different ways they operate. 3 Load minimum at each terminal before you're allowed by yourself. Then you have the regular stuff that comes with driving a truck, traffic, assholes cutting you off, hazmat road restrictions, knowing your weights and gallons and much more.@@IMaBeastDoWatDEn
