R&L isn't Union, you pay for your health insurance and no pension at R&L. I used to work there. Hourly pay is good though at R&L for hourly drivers. Just no time and a half.

You Need to do your research, Yellow Freight has been around about the same amount of time and was the no. 1 LTL freight carrier in the world. I just don’t know exactly what the figure will look like, but it’ll probably an extra 3. Guy’s don’t understand what they make today is because of organized labor. Company’s don’t want them, so they’ll pay more to keep folks happy. Unfortunately, they’re not getting fully compensated for what they do.
I got hired at abf part time when I was already at odfl 2 years and wanted to work both but after they told me my starting pay I laughed and quit. 16 and hour in LA area? Not worth it
16hr? Are you serious? In LA? That sounds well below standard for LTL anywhere..
Teamsters!! If we all unionized the jobs would be better because we as workers would have a voice
Have heard a lot of bad stuff about them in New Mexico. Guys getting hired and only being able to work 2 days a week. They ended up going broke and getting jobs elsewhere.
Yep..That’s what sucks about a lot of LTL companies. Especially if you’re a newbie with little to no seniority.
@@imanthonytv it's actually happening to me right now at xpo.🥴
I been working for abf for 5 months now. It’s ok, but they got me on the docks most of the time. The real money is on the road, but the senior guys hold on to it.😑
They offered me a position but that’s why I didn’t take it. I can’t do the dock anymore lol

So is UPS better or ABF? I saw one video where it sounded like UPS was proclaimed the best.
Both are union jobs with similar benefits. Both have pension plans. I think in terms of overall pay, I would have to give the edge to UPS.
@@imanthonytv UPS pays way more. Their top rate is like 40 or 41 an hour and they are union too. ABF is LTL, two different types of jobs though.
How can u apply for either one boss?
I worked for ups and work for Abf now. Get in ups, but it’s way more stressful than abf. Ups pays more. Ups is easier to get fired from the politics drama between management and the union Stewart’s.
@@CJ-un6sz there top pay is 43/hr. They bidded on a new contract which starts in August for all ups drivers will raise top pay for 60-65/hr
Not hating but customers have told me they are high priced and have a lot of damage freight, so ..........🤔

Do you keep your truck at home on day off or u go to terminal
All trucks are kept on our drop yard.
@@imanthonytv thank you sir much love great video
Just to follow up because I’m not sure if you’re aware but I don’t work for ABF. If you’re referring to where they keep their trucks I always see them at the terminal. I doubt drivers are allowed to take them home.
No problem..Thanks for watching 👍🏾
I work there ,and you get your birthday, and anniversary day off with pay.
You have any videos on labatt food services?
No
Yeah there mainly all Hispanics for the most part lol
Former ABF Driver.
Definitely one of the best LTL companies out there.
They put forklift driver down as well because they offer flatbed services.
Ahh I gotcha.. Thanks for the info
Do you know if they hire independent contractors?
@@Kim-in8ri ABF Freight does not directly hire independent contractors but there parent company Arcbest has a lot of options for owner operators such as driving for panther. Check it out
Do they hire drivers with automatic restrictions
No, most of the trucks are automatic and all will be in a few years. They'll still hire you and pay you hourly for training to remove the restriction.
WHAT ABOUT INTERMODAL TRUCKING LOCAL
Wheres the link or how can u apply at abf?
jobs.abf.com/
Have they gotten better at loading we used to joke about them years ago consolidated freight corn flakes abf already broken freight 😂✌️
😂
How much they pay by the hour?
Estimated salary in my area (FL) is $20-$28 per hour depending on qualifications. Not sure about other parts of the country.
Sorry but fedex freight is #1 in the LTL industry, just gotta build seniority that’s all or go to a hub to move up quicker. And pay is top tier.
How much do you pay for medical and how much do you contribute to your 401k.
In the long run I've heard they wish they would've went to UPS
What's ltl?
Less than truckload
That was a good one I’m in NJ I was trying to get down with ABF but my TWIC card is taking for ever to come in (I know a twic is not needed it’s your hazmat, I did twic first for the discount that you get when you try to get your hazmat once you got your twic .. Yeah, MB seems like a decent company. Probably wouldn’t be my first choice but definitely an option.
@@imanthonytv MB in my area is union. $31 an hour. Lifetime free health insurance. $6.40 an hour towards pension. 4 day work schedule.
@Team touch trucking nice!
When they offering bonus’s, that means they can’t keep drivers
I work at ABF ,and that's not true alot guys are retiring, and the company is expanding.
opinion!!
Old dominion is the best Ltl job out there they’ve won the Masteo award the last 13 years
No OT until after 50 hours is not the best. You'll be lucky if you make 100k then start deducting you're medical and retirement.
Do they hire put of school?
time in a half after 50 hours high medical no retirement old d is not the best by a long shot.
Not in Cali. OT after 8 hours daily or 40 weekly.
Old Dominion is definitely the best in every aspect. Best pay best benefits best uniforms best looking trucks. Official freight carrier of the MLB and now of college football.
I’m only a dock worker and we get paid more than most other ltl companies pay their drivers. $30 an hour after 3 years of automatic raises and yearly cost of living raise
YOU SHOULD DO PAPA JOHNS TRUCKING JOBS LOOK THEM UP AND DO A VIDEO THEN YOU SHOULD DO UBER DRIVERS HOW MUCH CAN YOU MAKE DOING UBER
He already did papa john lol
never seen any talk about papa johns trucking
they have papa johns trailors but i dont think the drivers work for papa johns
ABF might be taken over by another ltl company this year
Fedex freight, saia, abf etc….All these LTLs about the same… except UPS. Them mfs get paid
2 of those companies you get a pension ,and that's ups ,and ABF not Saia, or fed x ,so they're not the same
I drive for R&L CARRIERS we have something like that as well
R&L isn't Union, you pay for your health insurance and no pension at R&L. I used to work there. Hourly pay is good though at R&L for hourly drivers. Just no time and a half.

I’m a dockworker/forklift operator at Old Dominion and I’m at $30.35 an hour after 3 years of automatic raises. We have the best equipment too. Brand new Toyota forklifts.
It’s literally a fact that Old Dominion Freight is the best LTL carrier in the country. The statistics and awards and volume of business proves it.
Fedex freight is bigger but still second to ODFL. I’ve worked at both
I agree I think ODFL is the best LTL carrier. I work for a lock shop and we have OD deliver to us. Between them and FedEx Freight our skids look flawless, never damaged.
Old dominion is literally the best. And has the statistics awards recognition number of terminals and fleet size to prove it.
I’ve worked for Fedex freight 4 years before coming to OD and OD is better in every single way.
It’s OD first Fedex freight second then maybe saia or averrit
ABF isn't the best !
Who is?
Nah. Old dominion is at the top
Can you be a convicted felon
dont be a convicted felon
You Need to do your research, Yellow Freight has been around about the same amount of time and was the no. 1 LTL freight carrier in the world. In '08 they got into some trouble but are still going strong, and are coming back. ABF has NEVER been no. 1 nor will they ever be. Back in the day the 4 top LTL carriers were: Yellow Freight - CF - Rodeway - ABF. I worked there and the company SUCKS management sucks treat you like shit, the UNION is the only thing that makes them tolerable. I was with Yellow for 26 yrs. way better company, and since '08 they are still 10 times bigger than ABF. All the other LTL carriers should be forced to become unionized, fuck these big corporations Yellow is the best, and always has been and there Teamster based. This I know for a fact, and from experience!!!
I appreciate your opinion. 👍🏾
I'm set to start with Yellow after I get my hazmat so seeing this comment was encouraging.
Sorry brother Yellow if far from the best. Lowest paid, no longer have pension, haul freight for free, ABF is definitely one of the top LTL carriers not as big as Yellow but definitely much more profitable smarter and still has the pension for its employees
In the past yes yellow and roadway. Currently ABF is a way better company to work for than yellow. It's the best LTL imo. Yellow/ reddaway has a pest control problem from what I've been told by the numerous drivers who left.
Well what place did you work for abf at
Is it possible or advisable to be an ltl driver your first year driving?
Yes, it’s possible. Some companies like Estes & Saia even have training programs for new driver’s.
@@imanthonytv hmm. I always thought it was more difficult because of all the backing you do in one day.
