Dusty Strings pickups Rock! I installed two P20s into the 2 DS Crescendos I have (one in Hawaii, one in Michigan), and just a few days ago installed a DS P10 in my 27 string Jessie Nightingale. I ordered the Jack Clamp, but at the last moment we decided to drill a hole instead (I kept the 1/2 Brad point drill bit I used for the other 2 harps.) Dusty provides excellent instructions, and I was very pleased with the job. Anne, I am intrigued how you record directly into your computer. I shall check you videos to see if you have mentioned this yet, but it would be interesting to see how you do,it. Thanks for all of the videos! ❤
What an informative video! Very nice of you taking the time to record this video for us! ❤ May I please ask what kind of an amplifier you are suggesting (using)? Thanks a million ❤
You have such wonderful teaching and presentation skills. I installed mine as Im quite handy, but doing a “how to” is altogether another skill. Love your videos.
We have this pickup and jack clamp installed on Miriam’s Salvi Mia. You made it look so easy! It was tricky…but doable ❤. In the video you mentioned being able to plug directly into a computer. Would you please share what type of cable allows that capability? Thank you.
I like the jack clip - I'd be leery about punching a hole in my DS. Looking forward to the sound because I may do that as well. (I want to use my harp with my guitar pedals!)
@@annecrosbygaudetmusic yes, I have a Muma lll 36 Concerto. I had tried a couple different ones but didn’t like the extra noice and my tremor caused rustling. I have considered the Dusty P20 just never knew enough about it to justify the cost and shipping. Your video has taken my installation concerns away. Now I just wonder about touch noises or how extra sensitive it is.
Well, this was certainly well-timed for me; I've been considering installing one of these in my FH36, but was hesitant because I didn't want to ruin the instrument. This is an excellent guide that answered all my questions. Great tip on using the quarter as a spacer. I'm thinking this might be the time to take the plunge! Thanks ever so much for this excellent tutorial.
@@annecrosbygaudetmusic what amp do you use and/or recommend? I was told a keyboard amp or PA amp is best for reproducing the range; would you advise avoiding a regular electric guitar amp?
Super interesting! Super glue (cyanoacrylate) has an accelerant spray to make the glue bond faster. I wonder if it's safe to use inside a harp. The accelerant usually contains acetone.
It's the glue that Dusty Strings recommended and supplied in the kit. Some people use double sided tape, I opted to do exactly what Dusty Strings suggested.
@@annecrosbygaudetmusic Always a smart move! The glue you showed in the video is a cyanoacrylate "super glue" which bonds with both wood and metal ("CA8" on the label).

Does this work on pedal harp, but with a P30 pickup? And instead of superglue, can I use heavy-duty duty double side tape?
Thank you, Anne, for your video.
I'm making a pickup system for my harp inspired by the Dusty Stings one, so the placement tips were helpful.
Anne, thank you for this video! My P20 pickup is being delivered today and I'm feeling much more confident after watching your clear explanation. 💗

Wow, great! I didn't know there was this possibility of installing a pickup without a hole! Thank you. ❤
Isn’t that great news?! Drilling a hole is too scary for me.
Nice presentation, thanks for sharing dear. Like 60 ♥

I think you’re a very daring hero doing all this. I get cold feet even looking at it😅
I just took my time. The pickup is an investment, so I really didn't want to make a mistake!

The jack clamp is such a great solution! The sound has been amazing, I was testing it out today.
I have started using guitar pedals on my harps…fun! See Emily Hopkins UA-cam channel for more harp effects pedals fun!
This is great. Need to see this.

I'm really happy with the result. I've been testing it through my amp and just today tested the recording setup. It sounds so good!

I would like to know your intake on this as I'm also looking for an amp for my concert grand pedal harp! Thank you!
This is beyond helpful and opens up a whole new world! Is the K & K big twin pick up you mentioned also permanent?

Curious if this template would work for harps made by other builders and/or smaller harps
Hi Jill, go over to the Dusty strings website, they list various harps, and which pick up is the best choice.
Will this work on a Lyon & Healy Ogden? Seem to be about the same size. My Ogden has 34 strings.
If you go over to the Dusty Strings website, they list which pick up is best for various kinds of harps.
