    The transmission grind isn't a Honda issue, it's a Honda owner issue 🤣🤣 Love that

    should be picking up my 94 ls next week. its been off the road for 8 years so itll need some refreshing. previous owner passed away. old mans last car with just 68k miles. all oem but its a slushbox. i think its worth a manual swap but thats way down the road. a fine score since i traded 3k of labor for it over the last 3 years. its been a long time coming

      @@KanjoBrothers i know right? he bought it in 97 with 62k on it. around 68.5k now. he just used it to go to the clubhouse for the golf course he lived at. garaged the whole time. all stock with hubcaps and those plastic strips in the wheel wells you mentioned. his daughter moved in and kicked it out of the garage with no plans of doing anything with it. even with the auto i had to save it.

    I got a 94 RS with 219k in September of '23. One thing I wish I had known was how short the gears are. Turning 3500 RPM on the freeway just feels wrong to me. I don't know how you GS-R guys can do any sort of a halfway long trip. I've been in other vehicles that sit at like 13-1500 at the same speeds, and yes they had V8 engines but it's just a very stark difference. Other than that, everything on the car is SO serviceable and simple that it's been a pleasure to get it back up to a decent condition

    • @KanjoBrothers
      @KanjoBrothers  9 місяців тому

      Haha, yeah the 4 bangers need the rpm and can take it all day. They're built for it. As long as you don't have a loud exhaust, they're nice cruisers. GS-R trans is definitely worse on the interstate here since the highways are 80mph and everyone does 85-90. But my LS Integra at that speed was perfect for highway cruising

    Nice rundown or pros and cons. 👍
    For upgrades: Nail on the head with going faster. Suspension a very good idea, I"d also replace the bushes. They're nearly always very tired. New ones transform the car. Tbh if given the choice between new coilovers and bushes I'd do the latter. Though I wouldn't put polys in, _especially_ the main rear trailing arm bush, as that's part of Honda's patented design for the rear. It's designed to be flexible horizontally which adds toe in under braking and stabilises the rear end.
    The very next mod I'd do is add a limited slip diff. This really transforms the handling and imho is the single biggest notable difference between the R and the rest of the range. Actually it's the very first upgrade I'd do to any front wheel drive.

    • @KanjoBrothers
      @KanjoBrothers  10 місяців тому +1

      Thanks dude! And I totally agree. Bushings are always neglected on Hondas and the limited slip diff makes the world of a difference hammering out of corners

    I bought my GSR new in 1994. It currently has 91,200 kilometers on the odometer. The only mod I did was to install a Yonaka catback exhaust on it. What a mistake, it drones most of the time. I'd like to get my hands on a stock replacement exhaust or an after market replacement that is easier on the ear.

    • @KanjoBrothers
      @KanjoBrothers  7 місяців тому +1

      Mine isn't that bad, might be the test pipe. It's loud at like 85mph but that's a given with the GS-R trans. I had the same exhaust on my LS Integra and it was perfect. No drones, pretty quiet with the longer gear going 85mph

    • @marcperras9072
      @marcperras9072 7 місяців тому

      @@KanjoBrothers That Yonaka catback is meant for other trims such as the LS, hence, no problems. It may have something to do with the location of the 4 inch extension. Mine was a 4 inch pipe addition between the cat and resonator. Bad location perhaps. I couldn't return it after the modification. Yonaka had warned me that their exhaust wouldn't fit without such modification which voided their warranty.

    • @KanjoBrothers
      @KanjoBrothers  7 місяців тому

      @marcperras9072 yeah, it didn't fit my car either so I just made a test pipe with my neighbor and got rid of the factory cat

    How is the clutch pressure- amount of leverage needed to engage - also ease of use in start stop traffic? I have a 97 civic hatch with a d16y7 and it is great for a daily driver from a mileage and ease of drivability in start stop traffic standpoint but that 106 horsepower gets old…😅 I would like to engine trans swap to the a Gsr or type r for the additional horsepower but I don’t want to lose the daily drivability

    • @KanjoBrothers
      @KanjoBrothers  7 місяців тому +1

      As long as you just put a stock clutch in it, it feels the same as a D-series pedal wise and drivability wise. Then you have a lot more power when you want to put your foot down. Very smooth and easy to daily drive. Some people think they need to put a stage 2 clutch in their car when they swap a stock B-series in and it is completely unnecessary and makes driving it harsh

    • @KanjoBrothers
      @KanjoBrothers  2 години тому

      @danielvalle266 yeah, sounds like you bought one that was extremely neglected and owned by a kid or something. If you buy one that has actually been maintained regularly like any cars should, and not beat on, then they last forever. My Integra in this video was neglected pretty bad when I bought it but I knew that going into it. Didn't take much to get it up and going reliably again. If you buy one that has been taken care of, literally change the oil/fluids and regulat maintenance stuff and it will last to pass onto your children someday, haha
