    I normally take the rear control arm down from the center, sure you have to do the links too but that lower knuckle bolt can be a biiiiiitch

      This is great advice. While it was not too bad on this car, I would say this is generally the way it should be done :)

    My neighbor did this to his 2018 Outback Limited same lift and company looks awesome has 10.7" of real ground clearance more than a Tacoma TRD Pro to put it in perspective. Plus he put 245/65/17 blk Motegi wheels with BFG KO2's all around looks crazy like some kind of apocalyptic vehicle!!

    Great straight to the point video! After seeing this and comparing with the lift process for 2013-2017 Crosstreks, I think I’m only considering buying 2018+. Seems way less complicated especially for lifting the rear. Anyone disagree?

    I’ve seen other videos where spacers are needed in different sections of the subframe. There’s no subframe adjustments needed with this kit?

    Also slot of people have problems with this lift because it doesn't have the rear subframe spacers. Making it what they say impossible to get the alignment correct. Have you had any issues? Thank you again

    Love the videos But I have a tech question. The ready lift is 2" in the front and 11/2 in the back. When I emailed reading lift they said this reason is to level out the rake that the car normally has. But my question is why do that? Does it improve driveability? Also these crosstrek have a problem with butt sag wouldn't u want to keep it high in the back?

    Just purchased a 2019 Crosstrek. By installing the lift kit will that void manufactures warranty? Just asking

    • @rallysportdirect
      @rallysportdirect  5 років тому +7

      It would not void the warranty as a whole, however the dealership may deny you warranty service because of the mods. Now they have to be able to prove that the mods cause the failure, so for example, if you install a lift kit and the engine fails, I would imagine they won't even question it and would cover it under warranty. But let's say you have the lift and your swaybar breaks, they could easily(and probably will) say that it was due to the lift and you would have to pay for it out of pocket. Does that make sense?
      Also just a side note, no dealership can "void" your warranty. They can only deny you warranty service on a case by case basis. So if dealer A said no, dealer B might cover it without a problem. It's all a bit confusing, but that's the way it is. :)
      Thanks,
      Rick

    Is there a reason for the quarter inch spacer on the sway bar link? Does that keep everything aligned? I would think the spacing between the lower control arm and the strut is the same, the only length its gaining is at the top. Just asking because I am doing a 1.5" spring lift on a 2008 Toyota Highlander, and need to know if I should throw a quarter inch of washers in between or something

    Will this cause damage to the vehicle? I’m only asking because I have bought a set of 2 inch strut spacers and went to have them installed on my Mitsubishi Outlander Sport at a local mechanic, and was told that if they were installed it would throw the alignment off and could not be realigned after installation i was also told it would ruin my lower control arms as well as ball joint, I was even told that it would cause my brand new tires to wear out in six months or less ? Any feed back would be greatly appreciated!!!

    • @rallysportdirect
      @rallysportdirect  4 роки тому

      Not to this one, but I have heard of other makes having issues with lift kits, but on this platform the 2inch lift is 100% doable without any additional mods. Anymore than that, and you do start running into alignment issues. And honestly I would check with the outlander crowd and see what they say. It's easy for a mecahnic to say it's going to ruin your car, but with any modification, we are willing to accept some things that might be considered "abnormal". Thanks!

    Ready Lift instructions clearly state NOT to torque the rear down until it is on the ground and the suspension has settled. This is exactly why people have trouble with rear alignments with this kit. Follow The Instructions.

    • @Grimbr13
      @Grimbr13 2 роки тому

      Interesting. Because if you didn’t get bigger tires, then there shouldn’t be any rubbing as the tires aren’t any closer or farther away from the wheel well edges than they were before

    Have you noticed any significant change in MPG loss or change in driving characteristics with the new wheel/ tires? I am actually looking at the same spacer kit but wanted to put Sparco wheels and General Grabber AT2’s because they come as close to the factory wheel and tire weight. Those BFGoodrich are awesome but they are heavy suckers!

  • @scottfranza7383

    No spacers on the rest of the rear suspension?? A lot of the other kits have spacers

  • @chrish6373
    @chrish6373 5 років тому +1

    Did you need to get a wheel alignment like you do with HDPE spacers, or is the alignment corrected with the spacers?
    Also at 3:00 you talk about compressing the strut, is that the alternative to lowering the car before you tighten things up, then lift again and tighten?

    • @rallysportdirect
      @rallysportdirect  5 років тому

      I would always suggest a proper alignment with any suspension change. The offset plates are to allow you to get the alignment back into spec without needing additional camber bolts. In regards to compressing the strut and lifting the control arm, that is exactly what we are doing :) basically trying to simulate normal ride height, and then tightening everything down. it helps relieve stress from the bushing when sitting at ride height.
      Thanks,
      Rick

    How did you measure the 30 Foot pounds when you attached the spacer without a torque wrench? It dosn't look like it would fit in there.

    • @rallysportdirect
      @rallysportdirect  3 роки тому +1

      I personally don't as I have a good feel for it, but the correct way would be to either get what's called a torque adapter which would fit in there, or you can buy torque wrenches that have interchangeable heads, and the options for those heads include open end wrench types, and basically any type of normal tool you can think of. Hope this helps!!

      It would to some degree, but likely would only have a minimal impact. Basically I think you could run this kit for the life of the car and the slightly higher wear of the CV's would go unnoticed. Hope that makes sense lol.

    How much did wheels/tires and lift affect your gas mileage?

    • @rallysportdirect
      @rallysportdirect  5 років тому +3

      Granted we've only put on a few hundred miles since the install, and most of those have been going and finding trails, but it seems like we might have lost maybe 1 MPG? I've seen some people say they did not notice any loss, and it's possible they are being truthful, but without concrete data it's hard to say for sure. But I think it's safe to assume you will loose a bit, but not as much as some might expect.
      Hope this helps.
