Some folks that don’t know about trains, This train is special the leading locomotive is a special scheme to honor a fallen flag (Denver & Rio Grande Western) that union pacific taken over in 1989. There are many special locomotives (1982 1983 1988 1995 1996).
In my opinion, UP 1943 is the 7th heritage unit. It doesn't honor a fallen flag, but it honors a plane named after them in World War 2, which some could say is honoring heritage. It's one of those topics that has a varied answer depending on who you talk to
Wisconsin Area Trains' Excellent Reels I back up 1943 as a heritage unit, along with possibly 4141. 1943 pays tribute to the heritage of the UP and America and 4141 pays tribute to a former President who was very close with the UP.

I am not going to wade through 5 pages of comments, but this is West Chicago, Illinois and while it appears as though the foremost gate isn't working, it is a deceptive angle. The gate that is up is for a different line. All is well, safe, and in working condition at this crossing.

The Rio Grande was a railroad that became part of the Union Pacific, the railroad operating in the video. UP painted 6 new locomotives in a conglomerate paint scheme of the former railroads. This is one of them.
Guys, the crossing gate that you're referring to in the upright position belongs to the CN/EJ&E Railroad that the UP heritage unit is crossing { hear that tell-tale clickety clack over the diamond? } and doesn't activate along with the UP crossing protection......they're separate.
