I begin every section of my distance learning preschool videos with “Ok everybody...”😂. I tried to break myself of the habit, but I’ve learned to embrace it as just my style.🤣
Thank you so much for watching Barbara and thank you for taking care of those sweet little gemlets!! Yes...embrace your style :) Be safe and be well, Elizabeth
I'm positive your way is the way to go! I am so inspired! Your work is just gorgeous and better yet attainable in everyway! I'm making you my journal guru!
Thank you so much for watching!! Aww, what a sweet thing to say :) I do hope you try your hand at it; it is a wonderful way to collect memories of everyday life. Be well, Elizabeth
Just want to say thank you, Elizabeth, for inspiring me to go back to a composition notebook as my Fauxbonichi! I kind of became addicted to Traveler's Notebooks, but with your videos I realized that the comp. notebooks worked best for me and my style. Your pages are beautiful and artistic and mine aren't anywhere NEAR that gorgeous, but my goal is to find my style, like you mentioned with the ladies in your FB group. Oh, and just wanted to say that if a person is inclined towards keeping a journal like these, nothing will really stop them, once they get a taste of it. Just like I've heard, for instance, that a writer can't NOT write, I think a journaller (journaler?) can't NOT journal.
Thank you so much for watching and for your lovely comment!! I'm so thrilled that you've been inspired; I think it's important for everyone to journal, no matter what type of book they use. I too attempted my hand at TN's and after six months, I just had to go back to my trusty ol' comp books; I am just comfortable with them. Glad you like them as well. So true about the statement you shared, "A journaler can't NOT journal" brilliant!! Be well, Elizabeth
good advice. The "ring bound" you were talking about is called "disk bound" or "disc bound". they are nice but better for bullet journaling than faux. If you paint or add bulk, the page warps and won't stay on the disks or they get too heavy and won't stay.
Thank you so much for watching!! Yes! Disk bound, sometimes the words just don't come out when I need/want them too; I even have that type of journal, LOL :) Thank you for the information about the warping; I'm sure it will help those that are considering this type of journal. Wouldn't it be nice to find the "perfect" journal that would hold up to everything? Be well, Elizabeth
Thank you so much for watching!! Yes, for now, I do this for me, but I also do it for my family, so they have something to look back on years from now. I would've loved if my mother and her mother had journaled; I would've so treasured those books :) Be well, Elizabeth
Thank you so much for watching!! Ah, the girl with the pink hair, she was one of the first girls I painted, LOL :) I do enjoy drawing the occasional face, and I really enjoy decorating my pages; it's all part of the fun of journaling this way. Be well, Elizabeth
This is sooo good. I am going to watch more of your videos. I too have a chronic illness. I do a large amount of my crafting from my recliner. I am making it work, challenging, yes, but oh so worth it.
Thank you so much for watching Debby!! I'm so sorry you suffer with chronic illness as well, but you are right, crafting in any capacity is so worth it :) Be well, Elizabeth
Another great video about journaling Elizabeth. You’re a very clear speaker. I absolutely agree about the positive mental health benefits of journaling. I cant imagine not enjoying my half an hour a day of decorating my page and journaling about my life. Thank you for sharing a really positive view of the subject.
Thank you so much for watching Joy, and for your lovely comment!! I can't imagine my life without my journaling or the wonderful friends, like you, I've met along the way. My hope is that one day, my kids and grandkids will enjoy a little glimpse into our lives. Be well, Elizabeth
I have 3 chronic illnesses and I can barely keep up housework so I do leave my book undone for a day. But you know what? I jot stuff down in light pencil in my journal like -baked cookies -got mom's package -got through history with (son) -too much laundry Then I erase it as I sit down and in pencil write that into thoughts that are better put together Then I write in over it in pen. I definitely don't have it together like you. My pages are not as pretty. No washi, few stickers. Tons of card already and it's still just the earlier part of May. I want ribbons like you have to close up your journal.
Thanks so much for watching Rhea!! Sounds like you are off to a great start :) Please try not to compare, everyone's journal is unique and special because it is essentially an autobiography about your life. I very rarely work on a page each day, even though I do have daily entries. I usually have catch up days where I sit and write out multiple pages at one go. I have a chronic illness as well you know, and some days it's all I can do to get out of bed, you are definitely not alone. Do what you can, when you can. Most importantly, have fun!! Be well, Elizabeth
I love journaling and keeping memories of my family and places we been or ate at or just packaging from thing I ate or something I got just find it fun
Thank you so much for watching Debbie!! Glad you've been inspired to paint some envelopes; it's a great way to add secret journaling as well :) Be well, Elizabeth
do you have a flipthru of that chunky one you showed in the beginning? id love to see it...love the washi tape row and that envelope.. you inspire me a great deal.. thank you for your lovely lovely videos...
Thank you so much for watching!! I'm so glad you've been inspired :) I do not have a specific flip of that book, but I do, in my playlists, section have 112 flip thru videos; they are like vlogs, only in illustrative/storytelling form. I am considering doing a series of flip thrus on each month without all my yammering though :) Be well, Elizabeth
I keep forgetting that it’s not something on a deadline. I get to do what I can do when I can do it. Five minutes is better than 0, and no memories written down. I also keep forgetting that I don’t need to write a novel on every page for every day 🤣. I beat myself up for no reason😊. Thank you for sharing, I just love watching! Take care 🤗💗!
Thank you so much for watching!! Yep, your journal, your way, on your time :) Do what you can, when you can. I do try not to get too far behind, but if I do, I don't really worry about it. I don't include every single event on my page, and since I write big, not too much can fit. There are lots of other things that I could write down, but I generally just include my every day goings on, not necessarily my feelings or thoughts, if that makes sense. Be well, Elizabeth
Luv, Luv,Luv.. thank u for the tips.. that envelope is gorgeous n u suprised me because I thought it was a painting that came like that..❤️❤️❤️.. I look forward to seeing how u color ur pages.. I bought crayons but I don’t know if that’s what u use to give ur pages those beautiful colors.. I look forward to seeing more..thank u again💐💐💐🙏🏼from Gloria
Thank you so much for watching!! I love to add little things here and there into my book; it's a fun way to add extra space and color. To color my backgrounds, I use Prismacolor color pencils, but anything will work :) Enjoy yourself!! Be well, Elizabeth
Never Hopeless by Elizabeth thank u so much for ur help..👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼I also would like to know the other groups that u mentioned so that I can see their inspirations n find my place in the fauxbonichi world😊thank you dearly🌹
The Facebook group is called Fauxbonichi Journalers and I do believe the link is in the description box. It is a fabulous group!! Hope to see you on there :) Be well, Elizabeth
The Miguel Ruiz journal has fantastic paper. I love the way it writes. I’ve done a.lot of gluing and it is chunky. It hasn’t split or lost pages but then I don’t use watercolors ever. I’d intended to just journal in it but I’m a gluer what can I say!
Thank you so much for watching!! I've heard great things about the paper in the Miguel Rius. I'm glad yours hasn't broken. I think that originally when people started using the MR for Fauxbonichi, it was intended to just have writing and drawings in it, similar to the Hobonichi. I enjoy cutting and pasting too! Be well, Elizabeth
I used my miguel ruiz for a bullet journal.. i taped in tip ins and simple stuff & my spine BROKE!! my 2nd MR it didnt happen too.. I called them and their customer service is amazing! But also.m it has 350 pages of course the bulkier it gets the spine will break. Its 10$ you get what u pay for. The paper is nice to write on.. Bleeds through extremely bad
Thank you so much for watching and for your experience with the MR. I think when the MR is used as a DIY Hobonichi, it is intended to just be written in as in the traditional ways of the Hobonichi. Over the years, people including myself enjoy adding bits here and there which can bulk up the book. So sorry yours broke :( But glad to hear that the 2nd one is holding its own :) Be well, Elizabeth
Totally inspired by and enjoyed this video; I have been doing written journaling my whole life (and I will be 75 this year); but want to begin to do an illustrated type journal--thank you so much for your encouragement...hugs, Julierose P.S. I have begun watching your videos from the start....Can't thank you enough...;)))
Thank you so much for watching!! I'm so glad you've been inspired to do this type of journaling; it really just ticks all the boxes for me. Oh my, going all the way back to the beginning?? That's a lot of videos :) Be well, Elizabeth
Thanks so much for watching Shannon!! Glad you enjoyed. First it was all the "ums" now it's "okay" I seriously don't know how you all endure my videos sometimes!! LOL :) Be well, Elizabeth
Love this.. as always! I’ve been so off my game and switching books and can’t find my groove again.... but I will be back soon and am always inspired by your videos and your pages!
Thank you so much for watching!! I'm sure you'll get back into your groove again, we all go through that at some point or another. I'm so glad you enjoy the videos :) Be well, Elizabeth
Thank you so much for watching!! The gridded composition notebooks, I buy at Staples, usually when the back-to-school sales are going on. The POSCA paint pens, I buy through Amazon because they are a Japanese import; I've never seen them in a store, but don't quote me, I don't get out to the craft stores too often. Be well, Elizabeth
Super video, loved it, and I’m on day 3 of my new journey in my Fauxbonichi. Yay.. And it’s ok, to say ok, I constantly say the word (little). Ha ha ,, this little tag, this little pocket, etc. lol
Thank you so much for watching Charlean!! I'm so glad you've started a Fauxbonichi :) LOL, I guess when we get to talking, our own versions just come right on out :) Be well, Elizabeth
