    I was listening to this while preparing dinner. Just at the moment the young women was getting her book, my son knocked unexpectedly at the back door. Embarrassingly I let out a blood- curdling scream. He was non-plussed as he is used to me startling easily 😏. I continue to be enthralled by your ghost-story readings and am surprised you are not a trained actor!

    I love A.M. Burrage. I don't know how this only has 531 upvotes. This is an awesome story, and you narrate it beautifully. Edit: I love that line, "She looked her best by candlelight". Doesn't everybody? The older you get, the more candlelight becomes your friend. :)

    Lovely story. Remind me of my grandparent's tale. Never let a beggar go empty handed. Give without asking questions. Lovely scenery of the autumn with the path laded with yellow leaves bathed in the moonlight.

      yes, it is. The intonation seems better, and it can be made to sound hauntingly gothic, or upper class royalty, or Yorkshire or cockney...it just seems much better for a ghost story. Even though I'm American, I have to say nothing is worse than an American accent for a ghost story....you have the Southern drawl which only works if you have a Deliverance style story. lol or NY area which is more gangster. The Midwest isn't bad, but it isn't that great for the narrating of any kind of emotion or pathos; it sounds like a newscaster reading the weather :) Let's just home there are enough English people out there that will narrate all of the ghost stories!!! and Tony of course, does a fabulous job!

    This is what I have been looking for. This is how I want a story read to me. Not in a sterile, dry, perfect manner, but with a mispronounciation, and a side word, and a laugh or sigh, and above all, the actual sound of a page being turned. This is story telling at its finest and I am so thankful I have found your channel. Please don't change your delivery. It is perfect.

    Many years ago as a young man, I had a gentleman of the road stay overnight at the cottage I lived in, before he made his way on the next day to look for seasonal work in Blackpool. He was called George, probably in his sixties and lame in one leg. I was preparing our evening meal in my kitchen, chopping vegetables for a stew, while he sat in the living room, and we were discussing politics (not arguing), through the open door between the two rooms. By way of emphasising a point I wandered back into the living room, but as I spoke I became aware of a sudden stillness and silence, apart from my own voice. I paused, looking across the room, and saw George staring at me with a look of horror. Following his line of sight I saw that his eyes were fixed upon the large kitchen knife that I was gently waving in support of my commentary, and he was suddenly realising that he was alone, with a large man wielding a sharp knife, and that no one knew he was there. I think I shrugged, lowered the knife, grinned at him and carried on speaking, at which point the tension was broken. Next morning I gave him a lift up the road and the change in my pocket. Some years later, after I had moved to another village, I heard that he had been asking for me at the local shop, so he had obviously gotten over his fright.

    If you are ever able to set up a corner similar to this in your house that is flanked by antique and vintage books with appropriate sound dampening materials and a high quality lavalier mic with the camera 50% closer, I believe those videos could be extremely popular. I’m picturing it like the character Peter Vincent from Fright Night 1984.
    Your narration is on another level and I hope to see you earn the success you deserve.

      @amandine512 8 місяців тому

      @@ClassicGhost popularity isn't the driver, your talent is. Your channel views are high and you have only been uploading for a few years. The next level might be making your channel stand out with a weekly "live" reading (not a live stream but as described, reading on camera) with a reasonably high production value (not high cost).
      This is just my opinion, but I know talent when I hear it. Your more recent uploads indicate a marked improvement over your early recordings and it's hard to imagine they could get better than they are.
      I am thinking also in terms of AI voice taking over a lot of things and how you can stand out. Being on camera is the most obvious way you can compete with AI.
      Whatever you do, you'll always have a loyal audience.

      Interesting idea but i don’t have the facilities to create such a place in my little house so it would have to be built as a set somewhere . But where and at what cost ? Hard to see how the income from the videos would cover it
