that's the most complicated mains powered small LED i've ever seen
I agree. It's funny that a scammer wants to power the LED properly and without flickering. I thought they would use a simple diode + resistor.
@@Bruno410086 if they didn't want it to flicker they could have put two of those LEDs close in anti-parallel and put simply a chunky resistor in series, i saw a LED in hand warmers powered simply trough a quarter watt resistor... but probably they want to fool the customer with a mumbojumbo circuit and the varistor is part of the illusion
15 k Ohm in line!
I think such power savers may act as some nice boxes for DIY projects.
The too short EU plug pins kind of ruin it... It comes out of the socket a bit easily.
Not really, you can get proper project boxes cheaper.
@matyaskutik4072 I mean I haven't seen project boxes with plugs
Your cat gives very intelligent feedback :)
Indeed, listen to the wisdom of the CatCulator 😄
The cat is concerned about who will bring food if the human electrocutes himself.
* Negative feedback at that!
It's not cat's feedback, Diode adds the captions post-edit
@@RotatingLocomotive are you sure about that? Doesn't the cat add the captions himself? Or if diode does, who's to say that it's not the cat's feedback?
You let all the happiness out when you opened the energy box.
It went from happpaines to happailess
These creatures are fooling people for no reason, thanks to your channel people are learning the truth about scammers THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!🙏🙏🙏
They havee a well-defined reason: to separate the suckers from their money.
"AI-generated video summary" - what a time to be alive!
and it didn't say the most important thing, that it is a fake product, that's why I don't trust AI.
Mirror mirror on the wall, which electronic engineer has the prettiest cat of all? Louis Rossmann: Noooooh not that guy in Chechia!!!
so the conclusion is...... dodgy!
And not saving anything
We could buy these for project boxes if they would sell them as such. Otherwise, I won't buy from scammers, though it's fine to buy them to show people here that they're fake. I suspect that they took out the capacitor and then the fake capacitor because the market price kept decreasing as they ran out of suckers to buy them. Hard to understand why they still bother producing these.
Ist cheap and easy. Its a rule how to make Money with least efford
@@antibrevity the plug isn’t compliant though, it might fall out. Also, we don’t know if the plastic is ul94-v0, which is required for stuff you plug in the outlet or that can draw more than 15 watts. Alas, it’s pure junk.
Using and selling less of chrom plated metall at a part is good for the environment.
Every one needs an Elon Musk power saver.
Not only does this new scam product not improve your household power factor, the fact that it's just a capacitive dropper night light actually makes your power factor worse.
Only proper ways to save electricity
Use some power saving/low power need appliances n stuff
Make your electrical system efficient as possible, starting by wire usage (too much wire used/too long will waste some energy)
Don't leave some unused stuffs plugged
And more
Exactly.
I would think that by now the manufacturers of quack saving devices profit of not the consumers buying them but reviewrs buying them to make debunk videos 😂
Anyway, good video as usually. I really enjoy watching them. ❤
@ YT: this video is subject of copyright strike for disclosing protected designs.
They cutting even more corners, lol! nice video! 👍
Yes it brings on happiness when the unit explodes in one’s hand as it is being plugged into the outlet and pumping mains voltage into the individual.
It did bring us happiness!
LoL!😆
Now c'mon, don't be _too_ rude! 😂
Be reasonably rude.😊
Cool video as always. Please make a video about testing the inrush or fusable resistors, MOV's etc. I doubt if these component are real.
Thanks for sharing this with us. Where did you get your Multimeter from?
Big Clive got some air "ionizers" from eBay that use a similar plastic case and those have brush bristles poking out that are connected directly to mains voltage. Also they are just for decoration but connected to mains anyway.
For the next version I suggest they use neon indicators with a dropper resistor that gets overly warm and melts the housing.
Neon indicators typically run under 1mA, so the combined power of the lamp and the resistor is below 0.23W for 230V.
That's what the original was, With a sand filled fake capacitor.
Actually they do save lots of electricity simply by blocking the outlet. 😁😇
Hey diode, can u make some good videos for beginners? and where to salvage parts and whats uselfum to value or not
What!!! All this composants for one green led....? ohh the electronic 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Is this big clive's distant cousin?
😂
I've seen someone call Diode "A more dangerous version of Clive" before
And he (DGW) has own fire extinguisher
A few years ago, there was a time slot of about a week when Fran, Big Clive, Diode Gone Wild and Electroboom were all away from their usual bases and visiting various destinations in Europe.
I could not help thinking of "Ocean's Eleven" .....
Look at the capitalization of the units. It is not V or Hz, so these must be some strange Chinese units.
Also KW is not Kilowatts, it is Kelvinwatts! At room temperature, we are talking about 0.1 Watts then.
Love it, ordered a dozen! :)
Merci pour la traduction audio en français 👍
Problème, les titres sont aussi traduits en français et pas moyen de le désactiver. La traduction en français est faite par IA, ça marche pas toujours bien (condensateur dropé : kézako ?)
The led is lit until the mov not go short by line overvoltage.
So when it working u need to be happy abaut the great money saveing performance of this product.
The old X capacitor is just lowering the sensitivity of display so it is work better now and gives u more happynes!
Someone send this guy something expensive like a server power supply. we miss complex schematics
In Thailand, same round pin plugs. But they are parallel. I wasn't aware that in UK they are angled.
EU pins are angled, UK shaver pins are not.
....6:32 OH YA ...AND THE ALL MUST AND IMPORTANT COMPONENT ........THE CAT......YES.....YES...I LOVE THAT CAT......nice video.....
Can't wait for my units to arrive and save hundreds of dollars in electric bills next year.
One person says their electric bill is now only $15 a month.
Can you make video about Test(load) a Magnetic USB Charging Cable power capabilities?
Danyk. Is it possible you can make a series of the theory (and experience based advice) covered in an electrical & electronics engineering degree, as well as advanced mathematics, usage of it or application of it?
Cat food advertisement at the end of the video. The advertisers are getting really clever!
This thing is huge! It will save you energy by blocking the socket from being used by an actual appliance.
It may even save you more by being large enough to block a double socket. 🤣
Probably costs them like half a penny to produce
When the production cost are bot high
They: REDUCE THAT
I got some with the same box Costed me 0.1€ for six + postage. Soon will make my one video as well. I guess the estonian seller sold them because the plug is for UK, and we cant use them without adapter. I have not opened it yet but it says that it is inteligent but i bet there is just resistor and LED and capacitor that might be fake as well. Mine has logo in the center, some LOD-s in the bottom and two green lines on the side.
There's not really a technical reason to use a safety capacitor, as it is neither across the mains, nor from mains to touchable. That said, you'd need a 700V (DC rating) or higher capacitor (630V will work but fail prematurely). In practice this would mean 1000V. Since that's more expensive, the economical choice would be an X2 safety capacitor anyway. Ideally one that's rated by the manufacturer for series operation. In practice, the cheapest one is chosen which doesn't really give any better result than a 630V capacitor :(
I wonder if they start cutting out the fake capacitor to save on shipping cost.
how much energy would an led put back in to the mains with a light shining on it.
but it's a good reminder to turn the socket off 🙂
None. Even if the LED could work as a very crappy solar cell, it would produce DC.
@@DiodeGoneWild But just think of the market potential, I've not seen one with this as a selling pitch. 🙂
If this is very inefficient for just one LED, what is a easy but still very efficient way to light up an led from mains?
A capacitor dropper doesn't have to be that inefficient, if the inrush resistor isn't a high value and the discharging resistors aren't a too low value.
Wow, not even a fake capacitor this time. Wonder if it originally had one where those pads with ripped off wires are, and they removed them to make them lighter and save on shipping.
Also like how the “useful load” has gone from 25kW to 30kW.
Coming next year, the wireless energy saver!
Can you buy and do test and measurements for step down 240V/120V transformers?
the device box looks like that of a cheap wifi repeater 🤣🤣
Show us the cat more. She seems to observe the best practice to stay behind the door.
Like the one Big Clive made a video about, it doesn't even have a PFC cap... Super Dodgyyyyyyyy!
Nice......
Páči sa mi tá ohorená zásuvka :-)
As they omitted the 10 uF capacitor, now it's even useless as a spike buster.
Idea for a new power "saver": no capacitor, just an LED driven by a resistor
Next level: no LED, no PCB, just a piece of fluorescent sticky tape on the box.
Next level: electricity saving app on your smartphone.
Next level: ESaaS: electricity saving as a service.
The goldfish forgets quickly! These always come up. The giving of fools. 🤣
It's like bro just taking a break
I hope you're doing well, not seen your videos for a while and you sound a little unwell.
smart guy told me "free" is only cheese in mouse trap
Personally, I would use a KP3310 chip if I needed to power a LED from the mains.
....MAGICAL
If they are gonna fake even having a big capacitor why not just use a single neon lamp with resistor, or a single LED and resistor (running half cycle)?
Fascinated by these silly things, but also love your accent and how you describe the poor circuitry within. The soldering job on that makes me cringe so much though!
the puny mov is only moderately good thing in this green nightlight
That's not a British plug, whch has fatter pins at a slighly different pitch.
Did not know that the European pins are supposed to be non parallel.
Only on the Europlug, the 2.5A unearthed variant. On earthed variants (like Schuko) and on the 10A-16A unearthed variants, the pins are parallel.
There was an annoying ad for ad blockers that I can't block!
Hey, it's not a power saver !
It's only a factor saver !?
Written on the box ...
Wow they didn't even bother even putting a fake capacitor in there!
Nitpick when talking abt such a blatant scam, but I would have appreciated it if they had put the load as the max load of a single phase (8kVA).
That would be no good for Europe, as the max load per phase would be between 2300 and 5750VA usually.
The only thing that saves power is turning the mains switch in the electrical board.
I expect the next version of this dumb device to just have a LED and a 9V battery connector .. and it makes you put a 9v in it . and then plug it into your wall. The wall side is connected to nothing and that way they can just use recycled parts to make them. Who the heck is buying these things anyway ? Thanks for cutting it open and showing us its dirty insides. Love ya brother !
should it bring me happiness? just take my money!
Ciekawe jak dużo takiego złomu się sprzedaje?
Najwyraźniej wystarczająco dużo, żeby opłacało się go dalej oferować...
A night light that doesn't even work as a night light.
Just to release the results of recycling plastic waste.
Not even a good little project box anymore. Times are tough!
Make automatic led night lamp please i am begging you
There are loads on youtube.
It can be achieved by putting an LDR across the LED in this circuit. That would work but is somewhat crappy.
I want the led as the sensor
@@ruayfe7342 I don't think you know what you want.
@andymouse leds can work as light sensor
Ooh... They don't even put the big black sand filled capacitor...
Since you used colored markers to draw the schematic it may have cost you more than it cost the scammers to make the fake product!
" Don't take off too often" xD wth
Lol, this one doesn't even have the large and often fake capacitor in it.
They wasted far too many pennies on that oversized dropper capacitor, could have used 33nF and still been fine.
What a voice ;-) ;-)
Jako způsob, jak z hejla vytáhnout aspoň pár peněz dobrý ...
I view Chinese electrical products with fear and concern, assuming that they may have a possibility of burning down my house.
It might be possible, if the 220nF capacitor shorts and the 100 ohm resistor isn't fusible...
even a scamming device has become a scam 🙄
30KV 😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😵💫😵💫
WooooW
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Placebo efekt by mal lepší efekt ako toto čudo 😂
Turkish subtitle please 🙌🏻
Only the Pest Reject is worst...
The capacitor could be useful for small ac motor compensator, but this is one is quite useless
0:58 😳🤣 Such devices should be banned, I think we are only harming the climate unnecessarily! 🙁
how do u get views on youtube, im having a mental breakdown
They could have saved the discharge resistor if they also left out the electrolytic capacitor. Really these are not the most efficient scammers.
All resistors are Fuseable !!
Today i learnt ive been using all the basic units wrongly feels scammed :(
v: Voltage not V
HZ: hertz not Hz, he must be proud
KW: kilo Watts and not Kelvin Watts never heard of this unit ;)
but they managed to get CE, FCC and RoHS correct lol
CE is china export.
Another Chinesium crappy "power saver" that mostly do nothing
The power saving that mostly work:
use low power/power save appliances and devices or don't leave inused device plugged
Make sure your hoke electrical system and wiring is good and efficient, like use good wires and not wasting some wires/overwiring/use too much wire that may decrease power output
Also crappy wire quality will just waste your energy efficiency (using low quality wire = less amps output, use proper one)
How can something that uses that uses electricity save energy? You don't have to think to much to realize that is a big BS
The one who made this should be sued for this kind of crap
The cardboard box would probably work better.
Needs more salt. Even more salt. The whole room is shaking...
...Even more salt... Water is splashing everywhere... Even more salt...
What a rubbish 😂
Thank you❤
They started to faking a fake
and it's a wallet buster
Am I high, or they really put a Y1 capacitor in this scam stuff? While cheap chargers dont even have one...
The blue disk is a metal oxide varistor.
@@DiodeGoneWild good to know. I tought I was tripping, because it looks like a Y1 capacitor. (I dont even know why they make them like that)
