@@562mjohnsonMmmmm, Unfortunately, I didn't have the time to connect all the stuff... I want to install together with some other interlinks, polarity checks etc and then do a 1st listening with all the gear set up in the best way possible for me. That will take a few hours and I'm trying to find them somewhere these days.... I must say, when auditioning these SCM40's just before buying, ...I was so surprised because within 10 seconds I was convinced and totally overwhelmed by their beautiful, full and impactfull complete sound. So refined and at the same time raw (like pure and honest) sound. Comllete, overall, from bottom to end. Fantastic. I didn't hear something close to that experience last weeks, when auditioning about 6 speakers in the same price range. None of them touched me. These ATC's DID very much. Immediately! I'll get back here when experienced in my own system........ Cannot wait:)
@@topkho oh yes, almost forgot. Like my description above when auditioning this pair, I still think the same about them. Lovely. True pearls, shining. I have them working together with a Primare Pre30 and a Cambridge 851w. Tese SCM40's sound really cristal clear and also warm, defenitely not too analytical, precise with much details. They sound true and honest. The impressive dynamics and full bodied sound make rhem rock. Meaning, for every kind of music they impress! That's about it. No negatives found yet and I'm aware of my story is totally not objective but just my coloured opinion. Nothing more, nothing less. Please, tell me about your experiences... Cheers, René
You mean: the match is not oke. Or you have little experience with musical instruments. These are studio speakers my friend, used to mix your cd's and lp's.
I like The style of this demo but would like more info about ancillary equip and was it selected as being a good match after listening to otherchoices. Also what mikes aryourecording with as the speakers general sound is different to how I have heard them before but not in a good way. They lack musicality to my ears here
no matter the cabinet shape, nothing totally stops cabinet resonance, it is impossible. All that can be done is try to reduce them to a non intrusive level, so they cannot be heard and interfere with what is heard coming out of the drive units.
80w? When I was looking at the stand mount atcs the shop advised a minimum of 150-200w if you want to hear a true sound of that speaker. I can only assume these whoppers will need the same or more.
Wattage specs dont tell you how those watts will work in various real world conditions. Years ago I sold the original Naim Nait which was 8wrms and killed a 100watt Yamaha at the time including in its dynamics
@@russellparker4568 Not really they need at least 75w the stand mounters you referred to are further up the range possibly the SMC50, SMC100 or SMC150's and they do indeed need greater driving.

Soyou did try themwith a different front end to your own to make sure they just weren’t mismatched with your gear? Also what doyou mean by unimpressive?
@@georgecav Why would I bother? My system is excellent, speakers must work with them. I am not changing components to suit speakers; the tail doesn't wag the dog. Perhaps if I were starting from scratch, but I wasn't. You can find a definition for unimpressive in the dictionary.
@@johnratcliffe6438 Unimpressive can only apply to the sound of the whole. With another front end the atc 40s might be very impressive so the most you really can say is they didnt work for you with your front end but not that the speakers are just unimpressive unless you are just trolling... Personally thats exactly my experience with them. I have heard them sound excellent and then unimpressive in differing situations and with different front ends
Whaaat? I think you're the first person on the planet to not be impressed by these speakers. I don't know what gear you ran them on but I can tell you the problem would not lie with the ATC's. I've been into audio for 30 years, I've owned plenty of gear and been to the audio shows and I've never heard a better sounding speaker than the ATC.
Just bought them today, picking up on tuesday and installing them on wednesday and probably be in audio heaven before the weekend!
Good choice, you will hear a mid-range that Wilson, Focal and Magico owners can only dream of.
How are they?

As I always say;
*"No Highs, No Lows, Must Be ATC"*
Love the demo music though!

❤ simplemente impresionante 🤩 saludos
What was the traditional folk/fiddle music playing in the background near the beginning?
I find them a little muddy sounding...I prefer a Dali, open and airy...wide sound stage
passive ATC's haven't got a patch on the active versions .
It’s a matter of taste. I like the passive more than the active when driven by my amp.

Of course, any enclouse does something one doesn't want.
Can you tell us a little more about the integrated amp which is driving the ATCSCM40?
80watts is barely enough for these, surely? The active version comes with 242watts, I think? But thanks - great speakers

I play them with a 35 Watts tube amp. Is enough for most brutal metal!
