- This is a bi-annual railfan outing amongst railroad employees who are railfans and railfans in general. This was probably the best outing we ever had as the CSX River Line ran a parade of trains by throughout the day. Between 7am and 7pm, they stuffed 15 trains by including some with EMD power plus a BNSF crude oil train. We also saw MN heritage units, Conrail #201/Beach ball #208/Penn Central #217 across the river plus the Hickory Creek observation car on Amtrak #233. A great time was had by all as you can see. You’ll see a lot of kidding around amongst us all between the trains.
Entertaining commentary and great train locations. Thanks so much for sharing.
I know I'm late (been a lil busy) anyway, I love these videos with you and the guys. A day of great train action and friendly banter between friends with common interests.
You getting out, doing what you love is inspiring and I try to do the same, especially as I age. I find it very important to get out and find hobbies to keep entertained.
great to see EMDs leading hot intermodals on this line. Barnstormers is always amazing.!!!
Looks like a busy day along the River Line. I was planning on heading up that day, but couldn't. So now I know what I missed!
Ok for the people who don't know the lighting bolt under the locomotive number indicates that the locomotive has ac traction motors 😊
RRFHG you guys rock. I've ridden Amtrak and Metro North on the Hudson line millions of times. I would take days off from work to come up from DC to train watch with you guys.
Man, them P32s are some loud locomotives.
A great way to forget about the leafs ouch.
Great video. Paul is still the same. Whether that’s good or bad is debatable. 😂😂😂
Great video! Love the River Line. Some entertaining banter with the guys. Nice to see railroaders who are also railfans.
27:02 There's me in the navy blue Amtrak hoodie with the tripod
OUTSTANDING VIDEO! I really enjoy freight action👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥💪🙏🙏🇺🇸
Great railfan outing on the west Hudson River line!! Good seeing you dedicated railroad men!!
Thanks Tim💚👌
Welcome to my beautiful town
Go Celtics
I wonder if we will see any amtrak trains in this video
Just one. The freight action was so intense and the metro North Heritage action was so intense Amtrak kind of got overshadowed.
Great video! If you’re interested Amtrak is doing some major construction on the Keystone Corridor between Lancaster and Harrisburg.
I’m aware of that.
Awesome video, i was in manitou when this was taken
Caught some of these trains
And to think on what I missed out on since I was at the Tigers--Yankees game yesterday! I did get to do some train watching on NJ Transit because I had non scratched windows on the bilevels out of Trenton and New York Penn Station
Amazing!!!!!
You’re lucky you got 208 because it got towed to Croton Harmon today.
Wow.
Good stuff, great variety that’s very characteristic of the route and the area. The negative comments are irrelevant. ALL trains are important to this nation. And thanks for the great trackside action.
Just to be clear, I didn’t say that freight trains weren’t important. I just said that I don’t like taking pictures of them. There’s little variety in the appearance and you can’t ride them. With that said, I’m a huge fan of the Retired Railfan.
@@Leonard_Wilson Fan. As we all are. I see your point about variety if you’re talking about unit trains (e.g. coal hoppers, auto racks, grain trains, and others) but a mixed freight or manifest can be a map of our industrial base and, in some instances, an inventory of fallen flags. Plus, the mix of motive power is fun to watch - and catch. I hear you that you can’t ride them - legally.
Good day Tim, question would you know of a vintage train event at Grand central Terminal for national train day this Saturday May 11th 2024
Not aware of any
What time did you guys get there and see the first train?
730am
What's the name of the restaurant you guys eat at?
Barnstormers. It’s up the road.
@@3985uprr oh nice I have to check that out
I’m not a fan of freight trains. I just find them boring. However, I like passenger trains. If there’s another outing them I may join you guys for the second half (where the primary focus is on Amtrak and Metro-North). I can meet you at Manitou.
I enjoyed watching the Kentucky Derby on Saturday. Exciting photo finish, What is the status of the Belmont Race Track station on the LIRR? Rumors have it that it's abandoned. The Belmont Stakes is coming up soon. No more race trains? That's a huge event.
No more service. Now you go to Elmont UBS station and board a shuttle bus.
Racetrack is under construction for the next two years so the races will be held in Saratoga until then
When will you have the next outing?
November possibly
@@3985uprr ok looking forward to that video
