I’ve been a fan of Tangerine Dream since the early 70’s and this brings back memories of driving my wife crazy because I would play them over and over again. 😬
This is an amazing cover. I think that some people are missing the small fact that by covering this they are keeping the original sound and feel of TD alive. Considering the path the band has taken in recent years I welcome the covers that State Azure has done, and hope that they continue to be inspired by the early works of TD and create new original works in the same spirit. In no way will these covers replace the originals, but like a newborn artist learning to play Mozart before going on to make their own contribution to the world, we must celebrate this effort to introduce TD to a new generation who can by hooked by State Azure, and then go back to the originals, and then load their musical library in both directions to make a fulfilled collection of awesome ear candy. To the haters : Edgar Froese is dead. We need to pass on his legacy along with the respect to the remaining original members and those who have lit their torches from the fire of the people who have brought us such amazing music since 1967. We need this music , and music like it, in the future. We owe it to those who will come later looking for this sound the way we did : with discovery and awe.
I couldn't agree with you more. A really balanced view point. State Azure has done a beautiful cover TD for us older ones to enjoy again (I was born in 1950) and absolutely love Psy-Trance music. State Azure and Dreamstate Logic are right at the top of my choices.
Seen a comment saying no one should ever try to cover this absolute masterpiece from TD. Well, they are wrong. This cover captures the essence of the original. I agree, no one will ever produce a carbon copy of the original. Ricochet was conceived, written and recorded once, using the tech of the day, using unique sounds. It happened once. This cover is the only one that captures the essence, the sequences as near as possible by a new master. Brilliantly.
Loved this in the 80's when I discovered it, the 90's during tough times, 00's as I was settling into life, 10's as I was hitting a peak and now in the 20's as I face a slow inevitable decline...thank you
Life’s odd like that, isn’t it? Yours rather mirrors mine, and TD has likewise kept me company. I’m doing my best to avoid that last bit! Good luck with your journey.
I have to leave a comment here as well .... first Richochet is one of my favorite early TD albums and State Azure nailed it again... Really appreciate your hard work ... Thank you
Please cover Phaedra. You are a genius This has kept the soul of the original piece whilst even injecting new life into it. Thank you. Have listened over and over here in the mountains of Northern Portugal.
@@polreamonn Hahahaha. It's so true. And it becomes more apparent, every day, just how many people there are like that. I have pieces of music that are sacred to me, and I cringe to think about people covering them, but I applaud when they have the balls to commit sacrilege. This sound amazing. Better than me daring to cover Lead A Normal Life by Gabriel or gosd help me, Marquee Moon by Television. I learned the whole album and recorded it on 4-track. I used up and recorded over the master before someone else could find it. So as long as State Azure doesn't try to cover Rubycon, we'll be cool. Man this is good.
I wore out my 1975 vinyl eventually. When I got married in 1977 my new wife and I sat up all night listening to this on my Transcriptors Reference turntable. I do love this . I will be listening again and again ,through my highly amplified system !
Cheer to all from Taos
Today I was working with my computer, writting some documents while listenning to this music, played in a UA-cam Mix containing some of my favourite musicians' music, with the UA-cam screen minimized (so I couldn't see the video, and was just listenning to the music). While this music was playing I said to myself "Tangerine Dream are really wonderfull!!!". At about 06:00, I decided to make a pause in my document work to maximize the UA-cam screen and see the images of the video. I then realised that it was you playing the music, and said to myself "Yeah, State Azure is really wonderful!!!" 🙂
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed this one 🙂
Beautiful
Thanks Rachael!
