I'm an Afghan War Vet(2010-2011) and while these guys certainly exist within the ranks, they are a minority. Most of us love this country, love our people, and genuinely thought we were serving our people.

Ok. Let's get one thing clear.. Elmer Stewart Rhodes was never in combat. He was in training to be in the Green Berets but he broke his back in a parachute accident and was medically retired. Then he went to work on a gun range as an instructor, and used such poor range safety that he managed to shoot his own eye out. He didn't loose the eye in combat. Butter fingers dropped his own weapon on a civilian gun range, and having left the safety off, the weapon fired when it hit the ground, and the bullet struck his face, and he lost his eye.

I've seen for decades that our chickens will eventually come home to roost. We can't send out soldiers on nefarious missions, feeding them propaganda to justify our bad foreign policy, and expect they will be level-headed and non-violent when they settle back into society.

Same reasons people join gangs, terrorist organizations, clubs, churches, kickball leagues… people are looking for likeminded people to feel apart of bigger than themselves… this isn’t just a military thing. Military people are just predisposed to look for that sense of community after serving.

After WWII when Germany looked back on how the Weimar Republic slipped into fascism it decided that criminalizing anti-constitutional political groups BEFORE they become violent was necessary to protect democracy. The USA urgently needs to do the same!

You can tell which vets have seen battle and which vets haven't.

Hey, why don't we establish an actual "well-regulated militia" for these people to join and put them to work doing things that really help people: building shelters for homeless people, improving state and national parks, providing triage for drug addicts, setting up urban gardens, doing outreach to home-bound people, etc.?
There are actual organizations like Team Rubicon that do that kind of work. They mainly operate when there are natural disasters. The problem with these organizations is they have strict guidelines on who can join. Many veterans that suffer/suffered from mental health disorders are left behind because they may have legal issues or addiction issues. I think a lot of that is due to not having a community of brothers after discharge. The very thing that could help these veterans (Team Rubicon), is the very thing they are denied.
The home-grown "militia" has no interest in actually serving anyone but themselves. Their purpose is to intimidate people whose political, ethnic or religious qualities differ from their own.
Most of these guys never served in any real military or anywhere else.
When you say we'll regulated militia are you gonna arm them with tools to do the work or guns to make sure we do the work not viable
We've had a well-regulated militia for 108 years: The National Guard.
They're vastly better in training and equipment and professionalism than the DIY "militia".
I love the idea! Make compulsory public service in "a well-regulated militia" a condition of gun ownership. You want to burn up ammunition and shoot at targets? Fine, but you have to put in 5 hours a month serving food in a homeless shelter, or building Habitat for Humanity homes, or cleaning up trash on the side of a highway. Miss the five hours for 2 months in a row, your firearm(s) are taken away. Simple, and wholly in compliance with the text of the 2nd amendment. The FULL text, not just the part that ammosexuals quote.
Having a ruthless professional armed forces usually bites you in the behind.
This should be freely available for anyone to watch across all streaming services including UA-cam. Can't find it anywhere.

An important aspect to understand is that those who want to foment an insurrection and fundamentally change the United States through any means necessary, including violence, specifically TARGET military veterans. They infiltrate veteran groups, especially on the social media, and they look for the vulnerable veteran*. Particularly those who have struggled with transitioning to civilian life. Veterans with combat experience, including common arms trade or specialized skills are highly sought after, but any veteran is a target.
* vulnerable veteran is one who is not transitioned to civilian life and is likely struggling with any of the following: loss of sense of identity, loss of community, physical or mental health issues, and loss of sense of purpose. This is not all veterans, but it is a sizeable group.
What is amazing to me is that trump calls these people total losers, yet they are happy to serve his evil empire. So sad and an awful critique on American society today. Is the lack of a basic education the problem here? Where does this mind set begin? Serve those that despise you, seems like a mental health problem.

That's absolutely true. They formed the Friekorps, a para military organization and after with the N party and Hitler as their leader attempted an armed coup in 1923 of the existing government which failed. Strong similarities. History does not always repeat itself but it rhymes as they say.

a lot of guys that i grew up with ended up like this- in no way because of "loss"- although, all of them are the type who love telling sob stories and acting like they've overcome some adversity. in reality, there just guys who can't recognize their accomplishments and are bitter, anxious and desperate for validation. all these groups do is pat each other on the back and complain about made up grievances. i don't mean to pick on them, it's sad. seriously, they're so far gone that well placed compliment will bring them to tears.

I will watch this movie on prime video and i want to give a big shout out to Ben Meiselas and Ken Harbaugh.
As a combat veteran myself (OIF/OEF 05,06) I saw these guys in my unit and other units I interacted with. Unfortunately, the military doesn't always attract people who are well read and have a deep educational background. A lot of the guys I served with were uneducated sometimes shockingly so, and easily led.
Racism disguised as hazing was the norm instead of the exception.
What I saw as a private was everyone I viewed as being reasonably intelligent got out as soon as possible. At first, I didn't understand it, but by the time I was a corporal, I fully understood why most of the smart ones never signed another contract.
It's no surprise to me or anyone who served to see a lot of these guys fall into openly racist, pro facist groups.
Don’t forget get the gangs on active duty. At least there were gangs when I was in back in the 90s. Veterans are regular people and as such fall for the same propaganda and misinformation as the average citizen.

Agree as a Drill sergeant for several years you see so many different type of background, under educated, whites, black, Latino's, rich, poor people that join the military I can say that some of the best soldiers were the under educated, that took pride in serving. Most educated soldiers don't really reenlist. I was 17 years old when I join, because my family was poor, and I saw how the military at that time could help me go to college, because my parents couldn't afford it. My two Son's served this Country in Iraq, and Afghanistan . Many of the Younger Vets that get out still need a place to go, we need to support the one's that need help. Show them a better path and our long time Vets can help with that. We don't need Domestic violence in our own back yard.

Rhodes shot his own eye out and his military career was shorted. Acting as the leader of a militia group gave him a career satisfaction proving he’s still a man as our culture deems highly of individuals with such background. He did that to fill in his own void not because he truly believed he was a patriot. He’s one of those said things to gain social desirability.
Against All Enemies is such an important documentary.

Those veterans had it in them before they joined the military. Some were deliberately sent there to learn on the tax prayer's dime then train their comrades.

Is there an exit programs where they have a check in monthly with someone who monitors and guids the vets as they reenter the civilian world and counsel whether it is employment, isolation, etc so they are not susceptible to these deceptive brotherhood and influences? The US is pretty weak with vet support programs.
This is a real issue I think and a huge negative to any presidential candidate .. any candidate seen remotely close to groups like these here at home would be wise to distance themselves from them because they will lose .. I won’t support a candidate that relies on them for influence or intimidation here at home .. it’s because of groups like this the best and brightest seek to take their talents elsewhere which isn’t what you want as a country or society

The Heritage Foundation, the Manhattan Institute, the American Legislative Exchange Council, The Sarah Scaife Foundation, The Allegheny Foundation, The Carthage Foundation, The Scaife Family Foundation, the Koch Foundation, Adolph Coors Foundation, the Cato Institute, the American Enterprise Institute, the Foundation for Government Accountability, DonorsTrust, the Federalist Society, The Heartland Institute, the John Birch Society, and 500 other think tanks and organizations under the Atlas Network.

My husband was in the Army in the 90's, he said extremists groups go after our service men and women hard core, even overseas. What's so sad is all of these people think they are doing the right thing and the people behind it vote against any legislation that would ACTUALLY improve their lives.
This video helped me have compassion for veterans with complex PTSD have been drawn into violent activities, especially after being urged to do so by a despot! 😢

I served from 1986-1990 as a Marine infantryman. ALL of the Marines had a H.S diploma and could read at a H.S level...no Rocket Scientist but no dummies either.

I found it funny that the producer of this film said that the left doesnt get violent??? As someone who lived in Portland during the riots and watched ANTIFA do the most despicable things with more violence then Jan 6th and for 100+ nights I must disagree with that statement, also when you see the state of this country with the southern border migrant crisis and what it's doing to our cities and the economy with the sky high inflation and the crime that's happening all over the country and all the tax money going to other countries and to illegal immigrants who are receiving on average 7x the amount given to veteran families in need of assistance??? well its not a huge leap to see why some of these vets are feeling disenfranchised by their Govt. if any of my facts are wrong please feel free to enlighten me but I have eyes and a brain and I see whats happening and although I in no way agree with or support extremist groups I feel the reasons that these film makers give for these vets joining said groups couldn't be more of base.
