Exellent Composition and Even more so an Arrangement. Greatly enjoyed playing this earlier today with an Incredible Big Band... and still have the simple yet powerful sound in my head. What made it even more enjoyable was a slower tempo, and an emphasized swing (layed back) feel... But this also sounds Great, thank you for posting.
Dump the conductor. Band didn't swing. Played music dead. How can that band play so like a dead person. When they played louder, no edge. This interpretation is like a 10th grade jazz band. Play big or go home. Original recording is good!
Dave-- You may find you actually like "Rock" if you can't/don't appreciate good stuff like this track. BTW very tasty piano concepts need to be recognized. --Rob
I can listen to that Tenor player every day , What a cool tone and how he weaves through the chords with ease is impressive
... Bin überrascht von dem sehr guten Arrangement und der professionellen jungen Bigband. Excellenter Auftritt.
This Tenor Sax Man is so Good.
@johnnyloungejazz5477 I don't know the tenor player. He's good tho...

"Fab, Band”- playing this - ( quite well known arrangement around the big band scene ‘ cheers to you all .
The sound quality is horrible . Being there you would know the dynamics are on it

@@robertqueisser7117 you can defend if you like. But band did not swing
@@davewilliams9978 I can't possibly agree with you. It's all gently understated and works a treat!
Dynamics are great. I disagree about the band not swinging.
The interpretation and subtle restraint, great tenor solo and laid back style is all a hallmark of this chart and here it is played excellently.
