Annual statice (Limonium sinuatum)has always been a little tricky for me to grow from seed, but this year, I was finally able to do so successfully. In the future, once I have more experience, I'll most likely add a growing guide to the channel. For now, I hope you enjoy taking a closer look at the variety called, 'Sunset Mix'. Hope you enjoy!

Many ornamental flowers and cut flowers are TOXIC. ALWAYS do your own research and take responsibility for the plants that you introduce around your kids, pets, and everyone else. Use common sense when handling plant materials: wear gloves, always wash hands, avoid contact with face, etc. NEVER consume any plant which you have not positively identified with complete certainty to be safe and edible. Before planting anything, research to determine whether specific flowers are considered invasive where you live or if there are laws that apply to their planting in your area.

What is "The Mud Room"?
"The Mud Room" is what I call my basement. No, seriously. During heavy rains, it floods and muddy water pours in. It's not glamorous. While you probably won't see my flooded basement featured on this channel very often, you will see my random projects and journey into starting a specialty cut flower farm from the bottom.

I love statice but I've only ever seen it in deep purple. Do you know if these other colors hold their color after they're picked? These flowers are so pretty in dried flower arrangements.

The purple ones don't fade at all, I've had some for years. Hopefully, these other colors will keep as well.
I don't like that the flower heads on the pastel shades aren't as full as with the darker varieties. To me it emphasizes the small tatty nature of annual statice flowers. ~ Often hybrids diminish, not increase, the beauty of plants and their flowers, in my opinion.
+John OBrien I'm not sure the pastels are hybrids, but I agree in a lot of cases. Scent seems to be the first thing to go when breeding flowers. To me, thats just as important as looks. This is my first time growing statice, I'll have to grow some of the darker ones next year and see how different they are! Thanks, as always!
+The Mud Room They may be varieties not hybrids but my past experience has been that the heads are smaller but maybe you have an improved selection. Either way they are easy to grow and make long lasting filler in a bouquet.
