@rosevevoswag I could see Isaac singing on this if he were in the band. I agree, the genre is the same, it's just a very different vocal approach that makes people think it's a different genre
@@yashim08it does lol literally listen to the bit post harpsichord the only difference is a female vocalist, post punk doesn’t have to be so moody plus the term post punk is pointless anyways it means like 20 different things now
I totally get it for people who may not enjoy this. It’s a different vibe from the earlier work. That’s expected when you lose vocalist with a presence like Isaac Wood. It’s less dark and anxious and more wistful and longing. But honestly, everything that I love about AFUT is here. The complex chord progressions the lush instrumentation, unique songwriting. Just channeled into a new mood. I’m really pumped for this record.
I think that judging by the new songs that they have performed live that will be on this record I think that people who are fans of their other records will be happy too. May and Tyler both have these very whimsical and fantastical lyricism that channels plenty of weirdness, maybe not in the same vein as Isaac did but it's great in it's own way. This new song isn't my favorite TBH but if the other stuff on the record is anywhere near as good as nancy tries to take the night when I saw them live then we are so fucking back we never even left

Idk, i think the music is relatively in the vein of AFUT for sure but vocally there’s not as much emotion coming through which makes the instrumental feel a bit hokey in a way, though it’s still beautiful in many ways and im quite hyped for the record, very much hoping to hear Tyler Hyde do some lead vocals! edited “lyrically” to “vocally” because the lyrics are completely serviceable, it’s moreso the delivery that isn’t doing it for me
To me what I liked about BCNR wasn’t that it was sad is that it sounded like a soundtrack to a musical from another planet and this fits that honestly if BCNR are a post punk band than they did the right thing because what’s more punk than pissing people off and this song did that

@@Zoombeanie132 oh I agree, grass is one of my favourite songs of all time. I should've been clearer in that I think that instrumental choices were similar (such as the harpsichord in the beginning), not necessarily like Besties could be an instrumental on that album :)
Its all very pretty and well written, but it lacks that fire and drive that made BCNR unique imo. Maybe it works better in the context of the album but as it stands I feel no sense of urgency from this.
It’s a different genre. Doesn’t need a ton of urgency. It’s extremely beautiful, incredibly produced, well written, and performed. Doesn’t need to be “urgent”. Still a 10/10. Not rock music.
I agree that it's well made, they're all fantastic musicians. But by saying it does not feel urgent I don't necessarily mean it has to be aggressive or in your face to stand out. You can't compare to pre Bush Hall stuff because that was a completely different band. Isaac wrote and sung everything and dictated the tone/atmosphere/length of the songs through his lyrics. This is pretty consistent with Dancers/Laughing Song off Bush Hall ... if your looking for something more quirky and distinctive May will provide that on the album. She did Turbines and The Boy

Not my favourite because it feels like a transition piece already. Seems they’re going down a new route but they haven’t quite got over what they used to make.
