Even with a good clay base it can take 2 to 3 years to seal up and hold water. Fall rain time is the best time to make a first fill. That way you have rain to help saturate the surrounding landscape, and cooler weather to slow down evaporation. Don't be discouraged, that ground has been absolutely parched for years. You will make it a beautiful and spectacular pond!❤❤

You have to 'puddle' it. they used to run cattle in a pond or lake with a small amount of water in it so that they would work the clay until it formed a seal.

I live where there are a lot of deer & I must say I've never heard one do that. Marge was like, "Was it something I said? Do I stink? Did you see a ghost? What's your deal?" 😂 The waterfall feature is going to be absolutely amazingly peaceful when you're all done & the pond is full of water. Love it! ❤

I have had a doe with young (older than a fawn- not a yearling yet) make similar sound and stamp her foot at me when I'm in the park too late. "Okay, Mom I know the park belong to wildlife after dusk, but you're standing next my car."

It must be a different kind of deer than what I have on my little island in the puget sound of Washington state. They are having a second round of fawns. Yesterday it was twins with mom and an older young deer. Let me get within 3-4 feet of them. I see deer every day here. Smell a skunk every now and then and 2 kinds of squirrels. Loads of birds in the 300 ft tall ever greens here. Beautiful. I did see two male deer fighting once here around a group of deer.

Tremendous video!! Loving seeing the pond come together. Jealous of you abundent Clay. We had to use brothers dicarded Clay. It worked. After we got to this stage of our pond, hubby would go out EVERY evening and with his irrigation boots on would tramp around the bottom, up to the water line. Because the next day the pond would be up a couple new inches. Long tedious effort. But did eventually seal and we had a full pond. YES.

I've heard the white tailed deer here in the US bark like that too. They also do a snort. I was working in the vegetable garden at my Dad's this summer and heard a snort and turned to see a white tailed deer standing not 6 ft from me and another 6 ft beyond that. I guess that they were watching me tend their snack patch.
