I took my wife and kids there two weeks ago. The biggest takeaway for me was how genuinely friendly people were. Even the border guards let my 5 year old stamp our passports. Denmark is recommended by me! 🇩🇰

Fun fact: The guards at Amalienborg is top trained soldiers. They look goofy and harmless but they don't mess around. They will take action if a situation arises. 🤫

Fun to see the family visit Copenhagen, sorry it was in the middle of the winter. This is when Copenhagen is in hibernation, if you come in the spring or summer, the city is a lot more fun and the kids can go swim in the harbour, visit Tivoli etc.

I'm from Denmark and have visited Copenhagen a few times. To be honest, I also think it's awesome, but I find it challenging because of my social anxiety. What I loved most about the video is when you guys visited the museum because it was filled with information about the history and vikings that was so cool! I would also suggest visiting the Moesgaard Museum, which is a huge place with a mix of histories. I may travel to Copenhagen this year and the zoo is such a lovely place and also because it has pandas, one of my favorite animals. also, the area where the queen is are really cool because guards are keeping it secure and there is various music playing there. Also, when we were in Copenhagen, my mother asked to see the Little Mermaid, but I refused because I was too exhausted from walking every day. But, I may consider the next time when we travel together because I keep thinking about it. I hope you all had a great time in Copenhagen.

@@wildgooselife She resides many places, but Amalienborg is home. By resides I mean like staying at other castles during the year, like in the summer where she resides at Marselisborg in Århus, our 2nd largest city. Or on her yacht while traveling the Kingdome (Greenland and farao islands are part of the Danish Kingdome) and visiting parts of Denmark that isn't close to where she would otherwise reside or live. She also have a chateau in France where she visited a lot with her late husbond (who was French) - I dont know how often she has been since his passing - but she could if she wanted too. So yeah, she lives at Amalienborg, but has been (or is) traveling a lot and thereby not always "home" =)

Viking ship, not boat😉 And open faced sandwiches is the traditional norm here in Scandinavia. We don’t really use the word sandwich either unless the American style one. I’m Norwegian and we eat so much bread as well as being the nr. 1 coffee drinking country int he world apparently. We don’t have free food or hot meals in schools, so the norm is to bring your own lunch/lunch box, and it’s usually bread, and condiments aka the open faced sandwich. But now days many has cafeterias where they sell or make baguettes, buns etc. Or if you live in the big city, you just go to the nearest Deli, 7/11 or grocery store and buy your lunch.

The Viking ship in the National Museum is the longest and largest ever found! It was found by accident, digging a new "Viking Harbour" to the side of "Ship Museum" in Roskilde, with the famous 5 ships, which was found as a barrier in the fiord. Its keel is full length, so we know how long it was. And we have more Roman swords found in Denmark, as sacrifices, than in the rest of the Roman Empire at all!!

At several places an Iron Age army has invaded Denmark and became beaten. At Nydam on Als their ships was taken to the moor and many weapons became sacrificed to Holy Powers in the moor! As also in Illerup to the north. It was insane amounts of valuable weapons which became bent and ruined before the sacrifices! But for a good reason. The locals had won!! And I suppose they kept a lot of the good stuff?

Great video and I'm so glad you enjoyed our "little" country😀 But, if I can give you some pointers on places when you come back. Yes, copenhagen is our capital and is filled with history. But you mentioned Vikings. There's is Ribe, that was the first viking settlement here, Roskilde was a big trading city and later, burial site for our former kings and queens. We have the "old city" in Aarhus that dates back hundreds of years and is still standing. We have kronborg castle in Helsingør where i'm from, where Holger the dane, or Holger Danske, sits in the tombs waiting to fight if Denmark is invaded again. We have several viking museums all over Denmark and several churches going back ages, in Roskilde, Viborg, Aarhus, helsingor, Ribe. If you cime back, don't just limit it to copenhagen, if you wanna see danish history😉

(Fact about the rundetaarn) People actually used to jump off the building thinking they would survive, though that was like a million years ago. Yeah.. I'm pretty sure they did not have a fence. I'm not sure about this fact, but you could always search it up if you're curios.

While we actually haven't made it to Billund yet, from everything we read on blogs it's better to buy tickets online in advance rather than at the gate.. which is most likely what we would do. www.legoland.dk/en/tickets-passes/tickets/

@@wildgooselife But not really why or the truth. The Metro are a automated driverless train. Had you put your hand in the door it would have stopped, opened a bit, but not fully, before attempting to close again. Time lost would be won by a higher speed to next stop. Although you got separated I guess it were not for long. I do not know exact time between Metro´s going to the airport (guess it are a few minutes) but the Metro´s city ring are departing every 2 to 4 minutes 24/7 so no need to learn any timetable. I do not know if you used this option, but if you buy a 24 hour ticket, you can take as many trips you want for 80 Danish Kroner per head. You can buy it at the airport, the 24 hours do not start when you buy the ticket, but when you first time bleep yourself in for first trip.
Btw. Great to see that some frisky temperatures, did not seem to prevent you from having a great time here. Welcome back another time. If it are summertime then consider renting a bike, can be done via a simple app on your phone that unlocks the bike. If you want a less urban day then, I can recommend my own favourite beach, "Amager Strandpark". 15 minutes -ish from downtown Copenhagen,

@@Mike-zx1kx This is great info!! We took advantage of a 48 hour metro pass near the end of our trip, and it worked really well for us. Your info is fantastic and we wish we'd known going into the trip because we definitely made the mistake of buying 1-time-use tickets the first time we bought -and regretted it. 🫤 Thanks for the information! 😊

@@wildgooselife My pleasure, you are welcome. I thought so well of your video, that I also just watched the next one from Tallinn. I got to say, I suspect you have some Viking DNA in you! I am referring to your comments about history but also, not least, the winter bathing! It are an old tradition, not only in Scandinavia/the Nordics but also in the Baltic nations. When flying from Copenhagen to Tallinn, you flew over the Baltic Sea. The Nordic countries, that all were on the lucky side of the Iron curtain after WW2, had to look over the Baltic Sea for 45 years, watching our friends caught in a dystopian nightmare ,while colonised by Russia. Every summer, we saw desperate people caught behind the Iron curtain crossing the Baltic Sea on everything from inflated rubber tires, to homemade surfboards to escape that reality. Absurd that we now again have to see war in Europe, because of a dystopian Russian dictator. I really appreciate your comments regarding the history. So many Americans have no real idea today, how sad a situation it were. Only by remembering history can we prevent ourselves from making same mistakes again and again.
Imagine how few years it were since they got out of Russia´s grip and how worn down their nations infrastructure and economy was. Now they are fast approaching Scandinavian standard and here we are SO happy and proud, how they have lifted themselves up by the hair, to move forward fast.
Anyway, happy you could use the ticket info, just sad, now that I know you are a winter bather, that my info about our many beaches, did not reach you before. Many here start the day, year round, with a dip in the local waters.
I am a middle aged man but my father were an airline pioneer, resulting in the entire family of 5 travelled the world, at a time were only the very rich did. It has brought me an international outlook, that have shaped my life positively. Your investments in experiences like that, will come ten fold back to your children. Congratulations with your choices.
I am looking forward to see the rest of your trip.
