I'll never forget watching this as a freshman in college in dorm common room and 38 year old yadi throwing a DOT to Wong for that caught steal against acuna great game the Martinez almost blew 😂
Can the next episode of forgotten classics be 2022 WS game 1? It was SUCH a a great game. I actually went to this game as an Astros fan. It was my first ever WS game. Devastating loss but probably the most entertaining game I have ever attended.
The Arozarena that appeared in the game for the Cardinals would be the same Randy Arozarena who set all sorts of records for the Rays in the postseason the very next year.
That 9th inning was so dramatic, but it set the tone for Carlos Martinez being unable to hold the 1-0 lead in game 3 after he nearly choked this one. Their was also a crucial double play turned before Freddie Freeman hit that home run. Had only one out been recorded, the game would have been tied and gone into extra innings and who knows what could have happened from there. This was forgotten because the Braves lost this series even though it seemed like they were gaining momentum by nearly winning this game and then actually winning the next 2. They came within 4 outs of winning this series until Yadier Molina tied the game in the 8th inning and eventually won it on a walkoff Sacfly in the 10th inning. Game 5 was likely the worst division series game ever with that nightmare 10 run 1st inning by the Cardinals although last years Kershaw meltdown 1st inning could give it a run for its money. But that was game 1 where the Dodgers still had chances. This was game 5. Even worse, the Cardinals got absolutely wrecked by the Nationals after this series. Still a great game. Other than game 5, this was pretty much how this whole series was. Exciting, tight and lots of late drama. That's what made game 5 so bad and shocking even said by Brain Anderson the head broadcaster of this series himself
Correction, their was a crucial out on Ozzie Albies before that Freeman bomb to cut the deficit to one. Had Goldschmidt not kept his toe on the bag, Albies would have been safe and the game would have been tied up. With Carlos Martinez shaken for chocking a 4 run lead, no outs, no mound visits remaining, and the Cardinals bullpen just starting to get loose, the Braves would have almost certainly won this game and the series since they actually did win the next 2. Could they have overthrown Washington, we'll never know. I just re watched that 9th inning to make sure. In fact, their were many crucial calls in this game that influenced the outcome of the game both outs and strikeouts. This is why instant reply was invented. I'm sure many fans wish it was around as long as technology has been. There would be so many crucial calls that would be eliminated and change the course of baseball history!
If I may humbly ask, could one of the next entries to this series be the 2014 AL Wild Card OAK @ KC? I feel like most people don't remember how back and forth and exciting that game was.
I thought of more ATL VS STL 2019 NLDS GAME 3 ATL VS STL 2019 NLDS GAME 4 STL VS ATL 2019 NLDS GAME 5 NYY VS HOU 2019 ALCS GAME 6 MIN VS NYY 2017 ALWC COL VS MIL 2018 NLDS GAME 1 STL VS ATL 2012 NLWC SF VS LAD 2021 NLDS GAME 5 SF VS WSH 2014 NLDS GAME 2 HOU VS CHW 2021 ALDS GAME 4 BOS VS HOU 2018 ALCS GAME 4 PHI VS ATL 2021 REGULAR SEASON COMEBACK LAD VS STL 2013 NLCS GAME 6 PHI VS ATL 2022 NLDS GAME 1 STL VS SF 2014 NLCS GAME 6 MIL VS WSH 2019 NLWC
This was such a great series to watch! I remember sweating bullets when Martinez came and gave up those 2 hrs.
I feel this series is pretty forgotten , I think cuz of how awful game 5 was too watch but games 1,3 and 4 were very fun to watch.🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I hope exe edits put up the Kansas City Houston 2015 ALDS Game 4. That was an intense comeback
He put that has top 10 greatest game I think
Braves should have won this series. The bullpen injury to Chris Martin which brought in Luke Jackson was a key inflection point in that series.
they lost the series when they lost game 4. had them held on and won game 4 they win the series
Gonna cry about it?

A good regular season forgotten classic was the Braves comeback from 9-0 deficit to win 11-10 in extras against the Nationals. Was in 2012.

It's a great game, but I think it's a little too recent to be forgotten!

This was probably the best game in the 2019 postseason.
