    Thank you for this. As for the lug nuts, I swapped them out for a similar style solid set when I had the tires changed. It was better than going back to Ford for OE nuts that would just swell again.

    Always use a 6 sided socket when removing lug nuts on these. I found that out the hard way when I nearly destroyed a lug nut using a 12 point socket and impact

      OMG yes! Ford lugs are a PITA. I stopped to help a guy on the side of the road change his tire and it was a ford with these silly lugs and it was so hard to get the socket on the lugs.

    Good video. Threw you a like and sub amigo. Im doing the job now and ran into a couple difficulties- the first being that Im having trouble getting the new nut that affixes the shock itself to the mount (the one you mentioned using vice grips to remove) to tighten back down all the way, so much so that i stripped the little metal piece tt the top of the shock. I tried using the old and new nut both but couldnt get eithernl to thread all the way. Second, im having the same issue but on the left upper bolt that affixes the mount to the body of the car. Tried using a jack to relieve tension as suggested but the bolt gets about halfway threaded to the car and stops. Any insight would be appreciated.

    I got a set of Koni str.t rear shocks and the nut that tightens down the metal bracket at the top of the shock spins but I can't get it any tighter. Any thoughts? Thanks. I noticed the car makes a clunking sound when driving now

    Hello do you know if 2015 Ford Fusions have struts in the back? It seems impossible to even find rear struts?

    • @boboyt5
      @boboyt5 7 місяців тому

      I have a 2016 but I believe the suspension is the same. I have strut and then a spring next to it for the rear suspension. You can google a rear suspension diagram for your car and it should help identifying parts so it makes your search easier! You probably already figured this out as its been 5 months since you made this comment but this might help the next person.
      Edit: Sorry I meant to say a shock and then a spring next to it

    Can you get the top shock nut off before removing the bracket? Seems like that would be easier than vice grips, if you can get a tool on it.
    Thanks for the video.

    • @goddom
      @goddom  2 роки тому

      Thanks!. The problem is the shock cylinder can spin freely even if its on the car. It definitely worth a try though!

    • @jamesroy9377
      @jamesroy9377 2 роки тому

      There is a special shock absorber socket available from NAPA and other places for about $3 that is designed to hold the rod from spinning while removing the top nut. I suspect it's not necessary to remove the top bracket unless it has to be replaced but I'll know for sure this week.

    • @jamesroy9377
      @jamesroy9377 2 роки тому +2

      Let me correct that. Even with the tool it appears that the top bracket will likely have to come off. I started on the job this morning and quickly decided to save it for another day. I anticipate some excessive mangling when I try to get those nuts off and don't anticipate reusing them. The upside is they are an M8 1.25 thread and I was able to get some replacement nuts with the nylon inserts at the local ACE hardware. They take a 17mm wrench though.

    My 2014 Ford Fusion SE 2.0 eco post has a n annoying knocking noise coming from the passenger side rear shock. I had the shocks replaced still hear the noise. What could it possibly be ? Informative video by the way, thank you.

    • @goddom
      @goddom  4 роки тому

      Next likely culprit is the ball joint. I assume the top mount is in fine condition - which it probably is.

    • @jonwoz7560
      @jonwoz7560 3 роки тому +2

      I had the same problem. I fixed it by replacing the mount that holds on the upper part of the strut to the car. It has a washer in there that gets loose. It’s not that expensive. I recommend trying that next. Good luck.

    • @shawngtpsvm
      @shawngtpsvm 3 роки тому

      No ball joints in the rear. It's most likely the top mount for the shock. Bad sway bar bushings will also transfer a lot of noise.
